Layla POVI was hoping to get here before Nathan; he hasn't taken my eyes off me. Zach snorts as he says,“Is that him?” I nod. “Yes” “He's smaller than I thought he would be.”I laugh, shaking my head as I go to open the door and say,“Everyone is smaller than you, Zach.” Zach reached across my seat, putting his hand on mine,“Stay where you are, Layla; it's time to get this show on the road.” Then he climbs out of the car, nods to Jackson, and opens my door for me; when I climb out of the vehicle, he kisses me on my forehead before saying,“I will get the girls out, sweetheart, if you want to say hello to your mother.” I chuckle before whispering, “Omg, your crazy; please don't overdo it, Zach.” He winks and slaps me on my ass before opening the backdoor to get Ellie out. I can feel Nathan's anger reaching me from where I am standing; I take Ellie off Zach so he can get Beth and motion for him to follow me to the porch. Nathan smiles, saying, “It's good to see you, Layla.”

Layla POVI watch Nathan as he fidgets in the chair; there is no denying that he is one of the most incredible-looking men I have ever laid eyes on, but I don't feel the overwhelming pull of the mate bond anymore because of his actions, not mine. Layla POV I could kill Zach; of all the times he could have found his mate, it had to be today; I actually felt sorry for the girl. By the time Zach’s finished with her, she won't be able to walk for a week. It's not that I am jealous because I am not; it's just right now, I could do with a little bit of his advice. When Zach said the wolf from the mountain, I was expecting Darius to look like a bear, but no, he doesn't. I noticed everything about Darius as soon as I laid eyes on him. Darius POV We stayed late at the packhouse tonight; it's evident that Layla loves Ellie and Beth, but I intend to play a significant part in their upbringing. Layla POV I am still sitting in my office; my mood hasn't improved since the meeting with Darius and Riley, ‘Who the fuck do they think they are?' Why haven't I got a mate yet? Darius POV Curiosity is eating me alive; when Layla said her mate rejected her, I couldn't believe it. What kind of a moron would throw her away. The moon goddess pairs us for a reason; on the other hand, I should be thanking him because if he hadn't rejected her, I wouldn't have had the opportunity to get to know her. After sending Riley to talk to our warriors, I spent the rest of the day with Layla and the twins.
