Chapter Thirty-Four

Amy POV

I wake inside a tent just as the sun rises over the mountains. My wrists are bound.

“What the fuck? I think to myself.”

Then I remember rogues attacked our pack last night. Layla tried to drag me away, but when I saw my father fighting for his life, I was duty-bound to try and help him. I get up, trying to wake Ava; I need to know where Layla is.

When Ava starts to stir, I ask.

“Ava, can you sense where Layla is and if she is alive?”

Ava responds, “No, I can't, Amy.”

I sob quietly to myself. I should never have left Layla's side. Please let her be safe; we have never been apart in the eight years we have known each other. I suck in a deep breath,

“Get your shit together, Amy. You won't find her while your crying like a baby”.

I crawl under the blanket, thankful that someone had thought to cover me with it, or I would have been lying here stark naked, freezing my ass off.

Just as a man enters the tent, Ava says

“I wouldn't mind getting that one naked.”
