Chapter Thirty-Seven

Nathan POV

It's past lunchtime, and Layla hasn't woken up yet. My skin ripples fur starts to sprout along my arms as Neo tries to come to the surface.

He growls at Diana when she says,

“It's ok, Neo; she is young. She will wake up.''

He ignores her and says to me,

“We could mark her and give her our strength.”

I shake my head.

“No. Not just yet; we will wait for a bit longer.”

Neo growls again, not happy. Her scent is driving us crazy with need. It floods the entire house. I need to move; staying still is not helping either of us.

Sensing Neo and I both need the distraction, Diana says,

“Doc and I will watch Layla; why don't you see if you can find Drew and Amy?.”

Knowing she is right, I agree and go upstairs to check on Layla, she is still pale, and her breathing is shallow; I kiss her gently on the mouth before leaving.

Marian is pacing out the front of the packhouse when I walk outside.

“You waiting to see how Layla is?”

I wonder how she is going to take it that Diana is her aunt and he is her brother. Hopefully she isn't upset with Diana for not telling her. Layla needs to wake up soon.
