Thud!! The bag of fruit Debra held slipped from her hands, crashing to the floor. Her feet moved hastily on the shimmering white hospital floor, towards the sick bed her father lay on. “Dad!” She cried out softly, holding his hands, as he coughed out thick, clotted blood on the white cloth he had over his mouth. “I'm calling the doctors now!” Debra squeaked, quickly rose to her feet to run to the nurse’s counter, abruptly she felt a strong pull on her wrist stopping her. “No need, Debra. I feel my time here is all up!” Jeffrey managed to say, his voice low and cold. Debra’s feet went cold as fear rushed through her. Her eyes welled up with tears that rolled down her cheek in a straight line. She quickly leaned over, embracing her father. Her arms wrapped over him tightly, raucously muttering prayers in her mind to the Moon Goddess for some miraculous help. “Come on, my little princess shouldn't be crying,” Jeffrey's hands reached for the strands of hair over her face, brushing them over her ear. His eyes were tinged with love and pain. “Always remember that Daddy loves you and will always protect you, even if I'm not right by your side,” Jeffrey muttered, his finger pointing at Debra's chest, as she cried, shaking her head from side to side in disapproval of his words. “You can't leave us…” “What do you want mum to do without you? What do you want me to do?” She asked sadly. “I still need…,” Debra froze in her utterances as her father's hand instantly went cold, slipping away from her hand, falling limply onto the bed. “Daddy!!!!” Debra cried out as the life monitor beeped, the doctor and two nurses rushing in immediately. “Miss, you have to step outside,” the nurse said to her, gently taking her out of the room. Her hands clasped over her mouth, lost in grief. “Alpha Jeffrey Elsher died at 2:30pm on Sunday 12 July 2026,” the doctor declared, covering his body with the white cloth. “Miss Debra,” the priest called out softly. “We are all waiting for you to put sand into the grave,” the priest said softly, staring at her with pity and sadness. Debra couldn't forget her father. She couldn't bring herself to send him forth to the afterlife as the rules guarding the Moonfire pack demanded. Her mind flooded with the beautiful, sweet memories of having him by her side. “Are you going to keep us waiting forever?” Karen scorned her, her eyes flushed red from the tears she had been shedding for days. Debra bent over, taking a handful of sand and pouring it over the grave. As the burial ceremony went on, Debra swiftly made herself totally invisible at the corner of the funeral home. Her legs raised high to her chest, her hands wrapped around her legs, as her jaw rested on her knees, eyes crimson, her heart arching like a ticking time bomb that might explode. “Isn't she the wolfless daughter of Alpha Jeffrey?” a voice asked, staring at her with a facial expression mixed with pity and disgust. That's what they always called her, ‘the wolfless girl’. Ever since Debra was born, she showed no sign of the essence of a spirit wolf in her. No magic, no powers. She was simply ordinary. Before her 18th birthday, she prayed deeply to the moon goddess to prove them wrong, to put those who scorned her to shame. But the full moon came and went. Nothing changed. ****At the House Residence of Moonfire Pack ( Alpha Jeffrey’s Dining Room)***** The table was filled with heart-wrenching silence, wavering with discomfort. The only thing heard across the room was the sound of cutlery playing on the white plate as Karen munched on her food, her eyes occasionally averting towards Debra. “If I were you, I would eat to have strength. You don't know what or who is coming for you,” Karen snorted in a feigned concerned voice. Debra had barely touched her food, staring at it like it was some disgusting meal placed over her. No appetite. Suddenly, the door to the dining room opened, and two men dressed in well-tailored dark suits entered, large black shades that didn't reveal their eyes on their face, their feet colliding with the floor, announcing their presence with a commanding aura. “Is she the maiden Lady Karen?” One of the men asked, on reaching the table. “You can take her,” Karen spat out, without raising her head from her plate. Debra's eyes widened in shock. “What do you mean?” She asked abruptly, as the two men grabbed her arm and started to drag her out of the dining room. With so much struggle, she broke free from their grip, rushing towards Karen, her knees scrambled to the floor. A faint echo of pain escaped her lips. “Did you sell me?” she asked, her eyes curling up with tears. “You didn't, right? I'm your daughter, Mom!” Debra pleaded, her grip tightened on Karen's thighs. Karen quickly brushed her hand from her leg and continued eating without a flush of guilt. “Why do you hate me so much? Did I do anything wrong in becoming your daughter?” Debra yelled, her heart arching with pain, eyes full of fury. “Oh, sweetheart,” Karen slurred in a slimy tone, dropping her fork on the table, as she gently raised Debra to her feet and embraced her in a warm hug. “Yes, you did everything wrong in becoming my daughter. It's your fault you are that despicable man's daughter. If only you weren't and didn't remind me of him, maybe…” “Just maybe I would have loved you the way you want,” Karen whispered into her ears, signaling to the two men with a stamp of her two fingers. The two men grabbed Debra and left for the residence of Silvermoon. ****At Silvermoon Pack***** “I'm Rachel, the headmaid here and in charge of the kitchen too,” She introduced herself, taking a pause at where Debra stood with her head bent on the floor. “Your head should be up when I'm talking to you!” She commanded, jerking Debra out of her trance. “I'm sorry, Ma'am,” Debra apologized. “There are only a few rules here keeping us alive in Alpha King's residence,” she sneered, snapping in a breath. “There is no room for mistakes if you don't want to lose your life! The Alpha King doesn't spare! Is that understood?” She asked, her voice caulked up with seriousness. “Yes, Ma'am,” the maids chorused. “Good, now back to your Duties,” she commanded. Being assigned to the kitchen at the King's residence was one good omen of a bad omen in Silvermoon Pack. Debra had thought it was going to be swift work, at least there was free food. She won't go hungry. But the first two weeks in the kitchen were tough. She could count how many times she could have collapsed from the hours of standing, yelling, and running helter skelter to get things done. The Alpha King was quite a picky eater. In a day, meals could be prepared up to ten times, but only one or two meals could catch his taste buds. Every maiden was constantly on their toes. “Debra, inform the king his dinner is ready!” the head maid, Rachel, said as she reached for the testing spoon to check the white soup that would be served in the next few minutes. “Yes, Ma'am,” Debra replied in a shaky tone, as her feet quickly plumed the floor heading towards the king's chambers. “My king,” Debra called out, her voice soft and low, but only a deep silence lingered in the atmosphere, with no response coming from inside. Her hands reached for the doorknob and gently pulled the door open. Immediately, the door slammed close behind her. The Alpha King lunged at her from the corner of the room, his eyes white, his hair disheveled, black veins running down his hands and feet. His hands grabbed her throat, slowly squeezing the life out of Debra, whose eyes were shut from the fear that washed down her nerves, struggling to break free from his grip. “Alpha King, you are hurting me,” Debra managed to scream, her voice barely audible, her face turning pale. “Died!!!” The Alpha King mumbled, tightening his grip.Five - The Insincere 'Can I Be Your Friend’“You are always weak! The weak wolf should hide themselves,” Alpha Hugo blurted, his tone laced with no emotion.“Father!” Jewel called for the umpteenth time, glaring at her father for the embarrassment, as her eyes swept around the preying stare that pierced from behind in the hall, back at Madison, whose fists were clenched and aggravation swelling through her. Without a word, Madison's feet chugged aggressively on the black tiles, running off.“Maddy, wait!” Jewel shouted, running after her.*************“My king, I think you should stay away from Madison,” Brandon warned, his voice contorted with seriousness.Alpha King Steven tilted his head, stealing a glance at him with a raised brow, eyebrows furrowed with surprise. Not muttering a word, swiftly narrowed his eyes back to his wrist, gently unlocking the wristwatch.“Why?” He asked gently, not looking back.“I can't really explain, my king, but I sense this dark energy around her, l
Four - Be On Your Best Behavior“Does it still hurt?” he asked in a caring voice that made Debra's heart skip a beat.“As the King's Shadow, you must make sure not to hurt yourself,” he enunciated, his voice tempting as he tenderly wrapped the white bandage on her palm.“And if anyone hurts you, make sure to let me know,” He added, raising his face to meet her gaze, boring into his eyes as her heart pounded profusely against her chest as though it will explode.‘What's going on with me?’ She mumbled to herself, her hand laced over her chest.“Are you trying to seduce me?” She bluntly asked, her face filled with bewilderment.******The Festival Of Moon******The hall dazzled with a long table filled with different well prepared meals and expensive drinks that lined up in the table. Maidens dressed in different colors of dress that shimmered sparks under the yellow-white light in the hall. The Fangors stepped in with their family into the hall, gently nodding to soothing music that fill
Three - What Happened To You?Debra could feel the blazing stares in their eyes shooting at her back, but her eyes dared not leave her plate.“Who knows if she had seduced the king with her damn body?” The second maiden sneered underneath her teeth, jealousy creeping across her face.“Brandon!” Alpha called out, reaching for the napkin as wiped off his lips, and threw it angrily on the table.“Yes, Alpha!” Brandon replied.“Have their tongues cut off so they never gossip again,” he ordered, picking back his fork, taking a stake of meat into his mouth. The maidens crashed to their knees, “Please…!”“Please spare them,” Debra pleaded, abruptly cutting off the maidens' utterances. The king stared in bafflement, utterly amazed by her words, “Fine!” he spouted, pushing away his meal, swiftly rising to his feet. His feet clacked on the tiles as he walked away from the dining room, his aura excuding dominance.******At The Fangor's Council Meeting Room*****“My king, this is absurd!” Alpha L
Two- The King's Shadow “Alpha!” Debra screamed, opening her eyes. Her eyes instantly locked on the Alpha King's dilated white eyes. His eyes shifted back to normal, the dark veins that crept around his arm vanished in a daze. His face tugged with curiosity, staring intently at Debra. “Who are you?” the Alpha King asked, slowly loosening his grip from her throat, turning away from her to grab his shirt.Abruptly, his eyes rolled back, dilating to white, with fury, he narrowed his eyes back at Debra. This time he gripped her shoulder tightly.“Ahhhhh,” Debra winced in pain, her back pressed against the wall, pain rushing through her body.“Alpha!!” She screamed, staring intently into his completely white eyes, fear shivered through her bloodstream. His eyes swiftly rolled back to normal, and his black pupils appeared.‘Did she just make me regain myself?’ He thought to himself, loosening his grip on her shoulder but not letting go as he locked his eyes with hers.‘Is she the one I was
