Cilla’s POVWhen I woke up, I was bound to one of her wooden chairs and she was standing in front of me.“You promised not to double cross me,” I said, regretting why I had chosen to trust another witch. Clearly, these creatures did not deserve any of that. They were willing to ruin anybody’s life for fun.“And I haven’t. All I did was restrain you from making a mistake that could get us both killed. I don’t know about you but I’m not ready to die. I’m also not ready to leave this pack for reasons best known to myself. I have built a life here and I’m not going to let you come and destroy it with a snap of a finger.”“This will not affect you in a way,” I yelled. “It’s my life I’m putting on the line here. My life is meaningless without my family. I may as well die trying to save them.”“That’s where you’re wrong. It’s not only your life that will be endangered. Your siblings will be at risk, too. And me. The people in this pack are not foolish. I’m sure someone saw you coming into my
Ridian’s POVI felt like I was not in charge, and it sucked. For a long time, I had been in charge of everything in my life. I got what I wanted, and tossed out what I did not need. If I ended up wanting it back, I got it back because I was Ridian Jamison, the alpha of Blackmoon pack, one of the greatest packs in the territory. Things always worked in my favour, and if they didn’t, I forced them to. I started feeling that I was not in as much control as I thought when Jane ran out on me. Now the issue of Waterside pack made it even more obvious. I heated feeling out of control, and it was killing me. Therefore, I had to teach Vincent Frey a lesson he would never forget. It was the second time I was speaking to the arrogant man on phone. The first time he had the guts to hang up on me which was not a very polite thing to do. This guy had no qualms about disrespecting me and it angered me the more. But I let it slide, and decided to try again.“You should stop calling me because we are
Cilla’s POVI spent the next few days thinking about Rose and Ren, wondering how they were doing. Seeing Dalia and Malia Frey everyday was always a reminder that the other twins I knew were suffering. They were not lucky enough to have a caring person take care of them. Sometimes, I found myself taking out my frustration on the little girls, especially when they drove me up the wall. Whenever my anger became too much, I would go to the garden and try to cool off.I tried getting to Raven but she was gone. I went to her house almost every day but I never saw her anywhere. Either she had used some spell to make herself invisible or she had gone on a visit somewhere. I could only hope that she had gone to Oakwood pack. It did not seem likely since she had not seemed exited by the idea but I had to cling on to some kind of hope in order to remain sane. When more days passed and there was no sign of raven, I began to fear the worst. I started planning an escape. Not knowing anything was k
Every day after my shift, I left the main house through the back door and used a route in the flower garden to get to the building I resided in. Usually, there was no one in that place, but occasionally id meet a couple chatting or walking around while holding hands. On my day of escape, I was unlucky because I ran into Jardon. I had planned to branch off the flower garden and head to the woods instead of taking the path that led to our building.“Look, who we have here.” He said, coming to stand in front of me. I had no option but to stop walking because he was blocking my way.“What do you want, sir?” I inquired.“You,” he said, touching my cheek with his cold hand. I resisted the urge to push it away. Jardon looked really strong and I was not seeking to get killed. “I’m sorry sir but I have to go. My shift is over and I would like to rest.”“Why are you so arrogant? I’m the one in charge here and I will decent when you leave. I have been wanting you for so long.”I was beginning
Nia’s companions returned an hour later. There was a middle aged man called Mason, and two younger men who seemed to be in their twenties. One was a witch who had allegedly cast an invisibility spell over their homestead so no one could find them. As I ate some of the meat they had brought and roasted, I listened to their conversation. “If this is she then we are going to get some good money from Blackmoon,” the witch said.“Why?” Mason asked him.“She’s the one I told you about, the one who wouldn’t get sold back. Apparently the alpha of blackmoon asked to buy her back from Vincent Frey but he refused to sell her back because she was taking such good care of his daughters.”What? Had alpha Ridian really tried to buy me back?Nia glanced at me. “So she is quite the special one then. It seems we have struck gold. Can you send a message to your witch to make a negotiation?”The boy nodded. “Kaden lives in Ashland pack which is next to Blackmoon. I will draft a message and send him.”“W
The delicious smell of freshly made breakfast became stronger as time went on. Soon, two familiar young women who worked as maids brought in a food trolley. They set the table and invited us to have breakfast. It was nice, being treated like a guest. I decided to enjoy it while it lasted. I knew that within a few hours, I would be back to slaving away either in Blackmoon or whichever pack accepted to trade with the rogues. Given how well my captors were being treated, I had a feeling that I was going to stay at Blackmoon. Thirty minutes later, Marlon and Ridian walked into the house. My heart did a backflip when I sensed him in the vicinity. The air seemed to be getting hotter for me and I couldn’t breathe well with him so near. I could almost feel him. “Good morning,” he said.Everyone responded at the same time. My answer was so low that I doubt anyone heard it.“Let’s talk in the living room,” Ridian said as he walked past the dining table. As if on cue, my captors stood up, push
After getting to my room, Cara decided to return back to the main house while I took care of myself. Since I had not been assigned any duties, I decided to get some sleep after taking a shower. It was after I lay down that I realized just how tired my body was. My brain was so exhausted that only a few minutes later, I had slept off. When I woke up, there was a plate of food and a cup of juice on the table. My stomach immediately growled and saliva increased in my mouth. I sat up, and stretched before standing up. Stepping out, I went to the communal restroom and eased myself. When I returned, I dug in.The food was delicious, nothing like the trash I had been in that stupid pack run by Vincent and Mirabel Frey. The thought of those slaves made me shudder. And to think that I could have ended up being one of them. I was glad the rogues had got me first. I didn’t think Vincent would have forgiven me and put in back in charge of his daughters. He’d probably have sent me to work with th
Ridian’s POVThe crowd cheered loudly as the fight ended. The smaller man had won. Roger Bundog yelled into his megaphone as he went to the ring and lifted Joe Slater’s hand. Behind them Danny Munther struggled to stand up. He didn’t look to happy after being defeated by the smaller man he had vowed to crush. He tried to lunge at Joe but he moved just in time for the big man to fall on his face. Loud, mocking laughter filled the air as Joe and Roger moved out of the ring, leaving the defeated man alone. “That ol’ Danny finally got someone to beat his ass,” John Delvey said. He was a beta from a nearby pack.“That was great to watch,” I told him. “It was great seeing that man getting beaten finally. His arrogance was getting out of hand.”“Tell me about it,” Nigel Thomas from Redmoon pack joined in on the conversation. He placed both hands on his hand and used them to brush his hair back. “I didn’t think this skinny Joe had it in him. He has never dared to fight such a big guy before
