LOGINBradley’s pov
No, it wasn't possible. I refused to believe it was…there had never been anything between Mercedes or Chris to hint they wanted to be together.
Besides, I knew Mercedes loved me and nothing would change that.
“You have no idea what you are talking about,” I growled and my mother's lips turned downwards.
“I know you think you love her Bradley but-”
“Stop…just stop right there. I know what Mercede
Mercedes' pov“To the Luna and Alpha of this wonderful pack,”Benjamin finished his toast and all the pack members raised their glasses with a cheer.I felt Bradley’s gaze on me and I turned to him with a wide smile.“My luna,” he whispered softly and I bit my bottom lip.“Alpha,” I purred and Bradley looked inordinately pleased.“Well…are we going to get a speech?” Someone from the crowd called out and Bradley tightened his hold on me.“I want to thank you all for being here today. You are my pack but ultimately, you all are family and I think it’s safe to say Mercedes and I wouldn't be together here without any of you…even if you all were against us at first.” Bradley began and the whole crowd laughed. The rest of Bradley's words were blurred as I scanned all the faces in the crowd and I still couldn't believe how far Bradley and I had come. I couldn&rsquo
Mercedes’ povI groaned as heat crawled up my neck and I clawed at my clothes. Why was it so hot?My lips were cracked dry and my throat was unbearably parched.I groaned again as I tried to peel my eyes open but I was too weak.“Hey, it’s all right.” a voice whispered to me just as a cool cloth was placed gently on my skin. The sweat was wiped off me with the cloth until I felt considerably calmer and I was finally able to pull open my eyes.“Water?” the person asked before a glass appeared in front of my lips and I slowly emptied its contents.“I must still be asleep.” I muttered as I stared at Bradley’s mother. What other way could I possibly explain why she was the one in my room other than because it was a dream? She smiled ruefully as she brushed away a stray strand of hair out of my face.“It’s not a dream Mercedes, it’s really me. Although I can see
Bradley’s povEverything from there on out was a blur as I transformed mid air and crashed into Steve. He changed as well and we fought viciously against each other, no one ready to surrender to the other. We bit and nipped and clawed against each other and there was only one thing drilled into Dax’s head; kill Steve.I groaned as Steve's claws scratched the left side of my face and my eye and blood blurred my vision but I kept going. We tumbled against the floor and I sank my claws into his side before I retracted them and without giving him time to recover I pinned him against the floor.I stared into Steve’s eyes before I lowered my head and sank my canines into his neck and he thrashed underneath me but I didn't let up.Suddenly another wolf slammed into me and I stumbled away from Steve. I instantly rose and I stilled when I saw it was Ethan who was standing over Steve’s whimpering wolf. He was on Steve’s side now
Bradley’s pov“Bradley!” I heard someone call out to me in the distance but I didn't care as the feel of Chris’ warm blood on my body drove me to keep going.I was abruptly pulled away from him and his body dropped to the floor.“Forget about him, you need to get Mercedes.” Ethan reminded me just as I heard a familiar high pitched scream. My neck snapped towards the door of the pack house and I immediately stilled. Mercedes struggled against her captor but that wasn’t what caught my attention. How? How was it possible?“Hello brothers, isn’t this the most unconventional family reunion?” Steve asked and Ethan stilled beside me as well as though he was just realizing who he was. Steve had changed a little, his features, his physique…there was just something rugged about him now.“Steve?” Ethan called out hesitantly. I could understand how he felt. I felt as t
Bradley’s pov“I thought you left permanently,” I commented as Ethan sped the car away from my pack borders. I still couldn’t believe I had to sneak out of my own pack to retrieve my mate. When this was all over and done with, I would dissolve the council. They were more trouble than they were worth.“I heard about Mercedes and I had to come back.” Ethan replied and I cast a glance at Benjamin who shrugged in return.“I received your letter and there was little I could do alone.”Benjamin offered in explanation.“How did the council manage to restrict your movements and your power on the troops?” Ethan asked and I looked out the window. We weren’t moving nearly as fast as I would have liked.“It’s a long story,” I muttered.“It seems like the council has more power than the alphas right now.” Benjamin commented and I growled.“Trust me
Mercedes' povI stared into the darkness as I wrapped my arms around myself. This reminded me of the first time the rogues had captured me and more importantly it reminded me about Nicole. I stared at a spot I imagined her dead body had laid as life seeped out of her eyes.Wolves from Bradley's pack had died because of me, Nicole had died because of me, no one wanted Bradley and I together. The odds were against us and now that I had ample time to reflect, I couldn't help but wonder if it was all worth it at all.Maybe it was for the best that the rogues had captured me. I only wished the council wouldn't let Bradley come after me and then maybe the rogues would realize I hold no power over him or his pack and they would let me go, but knowing Bradley, he would find a way to come get me no matter what. The thought was both comforting and worrisome. The metal doors clanked open and I shielded my eyes as the lights came on. Two sets of footsteps echo
