I stared at him. There was no going back now.

“I gave it to him,” I said, my voice just barely above a whisper.

Dominic blinked, once. Then twice. The color drained from his face like a curtain being pulled back to reveal the storm underneath.

“You… what?” he asked, slow and careful, like he didn’t trust his ears.

“I gave it to him,” I repeated, this time steadier. “I gave him the file.”

“You… gave it to him?” His voice came out hoarse, stunned. “How?”

I curled my fingers in my lap and looked away from the way he was looking at me. “We’ve been in contact for a while now. Long before I met you.”

His brows shot up, like the puzzle in his head was trying to rearrange itself and just couldn’t. “What do you mean, you’ve been in contact?”

“I mean… I’ve been working with him. Varen and I have been in cahoots.”

Dominic stared at me like I’d just sprouted horns and started humming a demonic lullaby. His hands tensed on his knees, his shoulders too still.

“So you're a spy?” He said it mo

{Dominic}I had to get out of there. But the cruel reality was no matter how far I walked, I could still smell her. Her sunshine and storm and sugar. My damn wolf kept reaching for it, kept howling inside me like I hadn’t just been stabbed right through the chest.“Lyra.” I mused. “Lyra Graves.”She had gone from being Evangeline; the woman I had married, to being a slave girl I had bought years ago, and I thought was long dead. I hated how it dawned on me that she was the same girl I pulled from that auction house in Ravenshire. The same girl who acted all timid and shy, trembling from when her stepfather shoved her into the backseat of my car.I didn’t know who the hell she was anymore. And the worst part was that no matter how much I tried to deny it, I still loved her.I let out a low, feral groan as I stormed down the hallway, the sound bouncing off the polished walls. One of the guards turned toward me, about to say something, but the look on my face must’ve shut him up. I sla

{Dominic}Back in the day, Dahlia was what we called a huntress. The kind of she-wolf who didn’t wait for orders and would happily track a threat, tear it apart, and return with a smirk on her face. She and Ava may have been twins, but they couldn’t have been more different if they tried. Ava was a calm soul, and also one of the best healers the pack ever had. She was soft-spoken, patient, always humming some old tunes under her breath. But Dahlia on the other hand… Dahlia was a wildfire with claws and teeth. Back then, she was rising through the ranks faster than anyone else, clawing her way up with nothing but instinct and sheer force of will. One of the youngest wolves to make it into the inner ring of warriors before she'd even turned twenty. Then Ava and I fell in love, and when she died, Dahlia went on a rampage, killing over a dozen of Varen’s men. And somewhere between all the ashes and grief, Dahlia traded her leather armor and blades for tailored pantsuits and business text

{Lyra}I ran through the smoke, through dust, through the blasted remains of the wall. My legs could barely keep up with my lungs. Every heartbeat felt like a cannon drum in my chest as U did my best to navigate through the space. It was hard to see, but I kept my hands outstretched and just kept running. And just when I thought I could catch a break, I slammed into something incredibly solid and nearly fell.I peered closer and touched the wall I had just collided into with a groan. "A freaking dead-end?!"I pressed both of my palms against the damp stone, pushing, tapping, knocking, hoping there was some trap door, but there was nothing of the sort.“I don’t have time for this!” I groaned in frustration.I took my clothes off, wrapping them in my coat, then I took a few shaky steps back, inhaled deeply, and closed my eyes, calling my wolf forth so I could shift. The last time I’d tried this in the lab, the suppression magic had practically rendered my wolf useless. But here, there w

{Lyra}My heart was beating so fast I was sure it could be heard from at least a mile away.I was desperate to delude myself into thinking that it wasn't Varen who had just opened the passageway and was on his way down, but I wasn't that stupid. There was nowhere to hide or run to. Once Varen found me down here, it would be game over, and I would never see Isaac, Odessa, or Dominic ever again. My brain was working overtime, desperate to come up with a solution on how to get out of there. But when his shadow spilled into the entrance of the lab, I panicked and ran to hide behind one of the tubes. The second he stepped into the lab, I could practically feel his presence. His eyes flickered across the room, then his nostrils flared and his eyes narrowed. He knew something was amiss.I crouched lower behind the glass tube, pressing my body into the cold metallic support beam.A couple of seconds passed, and then I heard Varen yell. “…Where the hell is it?” His voice dropped to a menacing

{Dominic}I didn't expect that after so many years, Ava's death would still be able to get such a reaction from me. Maybe it was because I was sitting in front of her sister, who looked like a carbon copy of Ava, or maybe it was because the guilt of her death never really left.I opened my mouth to defend myself, and yet not a single word came out. Dahlia's eyes blazed as she glared at me; she had managed to hit me where it hurts. Usually, she'd be ecstatic about getting to me, but the words also affected her as well.“What's wrong, Dominic?” Dahlia scoffed, “No witty remark, or silly retort this time?”I gritted my teeth and got up from my seat. “Clearly this was a waste of time. Goodbye Dahlia.”I had turned and started toward her door when I heard her stand up and slam her hands on the table. “Yeah, that's right. Run away. The same way you ran when Varen had his hands around my sister's neck.”I stopped dead in my tracks, and my anger surged out of me, followed by my Alpha aura tha
