The next day Zeke and Sébastien returned to the invisible barrier to search for clues to the identity of their nocturnal visitor. Walking along the perimeter, they found nothing so they ventured out past the barrier until they reached the creek mouth. They split up, moving in opposite directions before doubling back to meet back where they started.
"Nothing. It's like there was no one here", Zeke complained, as he came within sight of Sébastien.
"There's always something. Look harder", Sébastien responded, as he continued studying the water.
Zeke stood on the riverbank and watched Sébastien as he moved slowly through the water, his eyes intently studying the riverbed. As he watched, the Darkmoon Alpha bent forward, pulling something from the water and holding it up to the light.
