I was right. The moment my dad could get me to the office, he practically dragged me there, shoving me into the important alpha chair—what I called it—and then dramatically tossed a huge stack of papers in front of me, telling me to “go for it”. I wanted to call him an ass, but I knew he could see it in my eyes and silently warned me not to push my luck. I raised an eyebrow at him, and he stared back. Eventually, I sighed and shook my head.

“You’re the one who wanted to run off with your mate. Now you have to deal with the consequences,” he said. “Actually, you kidnapped her.”

“No, she came with me willingly, as she’s already expressed,” I countered.

“Was it really that willingly?” he asked, taking a seat across from me, disappointment etched on his face.

“It’s not like I threw her over my shoulder and carried her off while she was kicking and screaming,” I replied defensively.

He raised an eyebrow this time.
