Kieran’s POV

“You’re teaching her to be indispensable.”

Mera’s statement is not praise or complaint. It is observation, delivered in the corridor outside the records room where Juni has spent the morning arguing—politely, then less politely—through a boundary dispute that had been rotting for a year. I watched her find the hinge: not who owned the fence, who repaired it when the last storm took the west post. The room followed her. She looked surprised. I did not.

  • The Alpha’s Forbidden Omega   The Shape of a Day

Juni’s POV“Don’t open your eyes yet.”Kieran’s voice is close enough that his breath touches my lashes. Morning has found the window, but the room still holds the soft dark of a house that has not yet remembered its wars. The bond lies quiet between us—claim warm as a held hand, the older current only a distant tide. For once it does not arrive with reed or iron. It simply waits.“Is the roof on fire?” I murmur.“No.”“Is the river at the gate?”“No.”“Then why are you awake before me like a problem?”His mouth curves against my temple. “Because you asked for an ordinary day. I’m enforcing it.”I open my eyes anyway. He is propped on one elbow, hair rough, throat bare, looking at me with a seriousness that would once have meant maps and deaths. Today it only means me. The difference still undoes something small and careful in my chest.“Strict Alpha,” I say.“Temporary post.” His thumb brushes the edge of the mark, not claiming, only acknowledging. “After breakfast we walk the orchar

  • The Alpha’s Forbidden Omega   Ordinary and Claimed

Juni’s POV“You’re still listening for horses.”Kieran doesn’t deny it. Morning light lies across our bed in a pale band. He is already half-dressed, one boot on, the other in his hand, head tilted toward the window as if the road might produce Seraphine’s dark horse again out of sheer spite. The bond carries his watchfulness straight into my ribs—claim warm, older current low and sore after yesterday’s ink and her voice on the track.“I’m listening for quiet that stays quiet,” he says. “There’s a difference.”“Come back to bed and listen from here.”He looks at me. I am still tangled in the sheet, mark bare, hair wrecked, holding the ordinary day I asked for like a dare. For a moment I think duty will win. Then he drops the boot, returns to the mattress, and lets me pull him down by the collar until the bond stops sounding like a wall roster.“One hour,” he mutters against my mouth.“You said a day.”“I’m negotiating.”“You’re losing.”He kisses me instead of arguing, slow and thorou

  • The Alpha’s Forbidden Omega   Ink and Old Laws

Juni’s POV“Enter it exactly as it happened.”Torvin’s voice is calm, but the pen in the clerk’s hand is already poised like a weapon. The waystation hall smells of cold stone and lamp oil. Kieran stands at my shoulder; the bond is still vibrating from the road—his rage banked hard, my pulse loud, the older current under the mark humming with Seraphine’s parting words about laws that do not care for soft titles.I sit because my knees have earned honesty. “Seraphine of Alder’s house blocked the track with five riders. No banners. She addressed Alpha Voss by name. She looked at my mark as if pricing it. She said the river still wants me whole. She said she preferred me contained in a way that left him standing. She referenced the marsh timing moving after her name entered neutral paper. She told me to enjoy any Luna seat the pack might offer, then said that when the old laws wake properly, soft words will not hold me. She left toward the river spur. We did not pursue.”The neutral seco

  • The Alpha’s Forbidden Omega   A Woman On The Road

Kieran’s POV“Riders ahead. Centered on the track. Not ours.”Wren’s voice is low. The column slows. Dawn has fully opened over the border rise; the waystation’s granite roof is already visible beyond the next bend. The bond kicks hard—Juni’s attention sharpening beside me, the older current under her mark rising like cold water.“How many?” I ask.“Six. No banners. One out front on a dark horse. Woman.”I know before the glass confirms it. Posture. Stillness. The particular way of occupying a road as if the world has always been expected to move around her.Seraphine.Juni’s breath leaves her once. Through the bond I feel fury, fear, and a hard bright focus that is pure mate. “If she runs—”“She won’t run.” My voice sounds like someone else’s. “She came to be seen.”I lift a hand. The escort spreads into the positions we use for a talk that might become steel. Juni stays at my left. I do not put her behind me. She would not go, and Seraphine would enjoy the attempt. We close the dist

  • The Alpha’s Forbidden Omega   One Day Out

Juni’s POV“You’re packing like we’re leaving forever.”Kieran looks up from the open satchel on our bed. Dawn has not fully committed to the window yet. One day until Torvin’s stone. One day until marsh witnesses put Seraphine’s posture into neutral ink again. The bond is already taut—claim steady, older current restless, as if the bloodline can smell the road the way horses smell weather.“I’m packing like I’ve been surprised by a marsh before,” he says. “There’s a difference.”I cross the room in his shirt and push the second spare knife back toward the chest. “We are not a traveling armory. We are going to a record review on our stone with witnesses and a neutral second. If I need seven blades to sit through ink, we have already lost.”His mouth tips, reluctant. “Four blades.”“Two.”“Three, and you stop looking at me like I’m the collar box.”That lands sharper than he meant. I see it in his face. I step in anyway, take his hands off the satchel, and put them on my waist.“I’m lo

I did not.“I’m teaching her to be hers,” I say. “Indispensable is the pack’s problem.”Mera’s eyes narrow, almost pleased. “Torvin in two days. If the river means to interrupt, it will be on the road or at the stone. I’ve doubled the quiet watch on the marsh side. No banners. No noise.”“Good.”Juni emerges with ink on her thumb and a tired light in her face. The bond reaches for me before her hands do. I take both.“I settled a fence,” she says, half wonder, half exhaustion. “I think I also made an enemy of a man who likes long grudg
