(Calla’s POV)

One hour ago…

I was trying to focus on the book in my hands, but the words might as well have been written in an ancient tongue. Nothing stuck. My eyes traced each sentence without meaning, my mind wandering far beyond the pages.

The breeze blew gently through the open window, fluttering the sheer curtains. From where I sat in my small corner of Rowan’s vast territory, I could hear the distant clinks of wooden swords, the shouts and grunts of men testing each other’s strength.

Freya appeared in the doorway without knocking—because of course she never knocked—and crossed her arms.

“I know that look,” she said. “You’re restless.”

I glanced at her. “I’m fine.”

She snorted. “Liar.”

I raised a brow. “What are you here for, Freya?”

She walked in, her expression shifting from amused to serious. “The council met with Rowan. They cornered him. And it’s not looking good.”

That got my full attention. I closed the book and sat upright. “What do you mean cornered?” Maybe I should act

  • The Alpha’s Forgotten Bride   Chapter 64: Steamy Shower

(Rowan’s POV)The hot water poured over me in fast and streams going down on my back like a drumbeat meant to drown out thoughts I didn’t want to entertain. Thoughts that wanted to choke me even with how huge I was.Steam covered uo the bathroom glass walls, curling over my skin, fogging the glass, and still—it wasn’t enough to wash away the image of her.Calla.Calla. Calla. Calla. That damn mask. Those silver strands slipping loose at her temple. The way she moved in the sparring circle—swift, brutal, beautiful. She was grace and danger, restraint and wildness. And every time I blinked, I saw her again—smirking, taunting, the press of her body when she tackled me to the ground and left me breathless, flat on my back, with warriors roaring in the background.I braced my hands against the tiled wall, water cascading down my arms. I tilted my head forward, eyes closed, but all I saw were her sharp grey eyes. Focused. Confident. Unapologetic. The kind of stare that dared a man to knee

(Rowan’s POV)What was this feeling? Like I could burst into tiny pieces of silver flakes and still won’t give a damn about anything or anybody but her.The sparring ring had never felt more alive than it did the moment she stepped into it.Her presents alone sent murmurs through the warriors. Sure but now from the way the elders were discussing that the entire pack must know that I, Alpha Rowan, is hosting a mystery woman. And by the looks of it, they can guess it’s her.The scent of sweat and sawdust clung to the air. All the sorting sessions with the other warriors had made the air a bit dusty. My pulse, though slightly steadier after putting the warriors through their paces, spiked again—but this time not from anger. I turned just in time to see her.Calla.Her silver hair was peeking out from under her mask she always wore. The was one time I caught her sneaking out and she was dressed in this manner. And to be fucking honest, it made her look so hot.Her silver streaks caught

(Rowan’s POV)I didn’t wait to hear another word form those old for nothing elders. As soon as the large doors of the council room slammed shut behind me, I stormed through the halls like I was angry at everything. My were fists clenched at my sides like I was ready to start throwing punches. My blood was still boiling and myy wolf was snarling in the back of my mind. My body felt like it was ready to combust. Rage hummed in my bones, licking like fire beneath my skin, and I needed to let it out before it consumed me.They had no right—no right—to corner me like that.To try to dictate who I marry. Who I breed with. What future I choose. They forgot who the hell I was.I tore off my blazer and yanked open the double doors that led outside. The cool breeze kissed my heated skin, but it did little to cool me. I stalked straight toward the training grounds where several warriors were already sparring, laughter and grunts echoing across the open space. They stopped when they saw me coming

(Rowan’s POV)The silence in the room was quite heavy like something invisible was in the air. Oh yeah, it was also suffocating. Elira always thought she had all the power and authority to question me in this manner. She is not my family. She is not blood. She was just a close friend to my father. So why meddle so much? Her disrespectful question still hung in the air. It felt like a smoke that rises uo after quenching a fire and then it was curling into my nostrils and irritating every nerve. And those nerves hated being irritated.“Is it because of the mystery woman you brought into our pack?”My jaw clenched so tightly it began to ache. I fisted my hand and my nails were digging into the my palm loke anger was about to take I’ve rmy being. And for a split second, I could feel my wolf snarling just beneath the surface, clawing for control. If it took over, someone was going to bear the brunt of it.I stood there like a rock, my heart thudding behind my ribs like war drums sounds

  • The Alpha’s Forgotten Bride   Chapter 59: Poking The Alpha

(Rowan’s POV)The council room was unusually quiet when I entered—no idle chatter, no sips of wine from goblets. Nothing like what elders usually do whenever they gather like this. All I could feel was just a low, simmering tension. The tension was thick and choking that if I had magical eyes, I would e able to see it physically. I could feel it wrap around me, a robe of expectation waiting to be thrown off or accepted.I walked in with chin high as I ignored the piercing gazes and half-hidden sneers. These were my elder council, the pupil that ruled this pack, this kingdom by my side. But most of them feels superior over me at times. My seat was at the far end, carved from the bones of a great beast slain by my grandfather—an old show of strength. I should have sat in to remind them exactly who their alphas is, but I didn’t.I didn’t bother to sit.Instead, I stood behind the high-backed chair, fingers resting lightly on its frame, and scanned the room.Lena and her father were alrea
