Annalise's POV

Theron studied me for a long moment. "You're planning to betray your allies."

"I'm planning to use every resource available to achieve my goals. If that requires keeping certain allies in the dark, so be it." I met his gaze steadily. "Are you having second thoughts?"

"No. I've invested too much in this to walk away now. I'm just making sure you understand the stakes. If your allied Alphas discover you're planning to drain entire packs, including potentially their own, they'll turn on you instantly."

"Then I'll ensure they don't discover it until the ritual is already underway and they have no choice but to see it through." I returned to my bedside, my brief surge of energy fading. "But first, I need to heal. How long do you estimate before I'm at full strength?"

"At least two months, possibly three. Your magical channels are severely damaged. Pushing too hard too fast could cripple you permanently."

Two months. An eternity when I wanted to act now, to make Silverm

  • The Alpha's Forgotten Mate   Chapter 65

Aeliana's POV* Maya's hands twisted together nervously. "I know you probably have a lot of important things to deal with, and I don't want to be a burden, but..." She took a deep breath. "I want to see my sister. Vera. They told me she's being held in a cell, and I understand why, but I just... I need to see her.Just to make sure she's okay." The desperation in her voice tugged at something in my chest. I thought about the bond between sisters, about what it must have been like for Maya watching Vera suffer under Annalise's control for three years. "You want me to take you to her," I said. "If you could. I know it's a lot to ask, and I know Vera did terrible things, but she's still my sister. She's the only family I have left." Tears gathered in Maya's eyes. "Please. I just need to see her, to talk to her, and make sure she's really alive and safe." I glanced back at Caelan. He was watching us carefully, with his tense posture. If I told him I was taking Maya to the cells, he'd i

  • The Alpha's Forgotten Mate   Chapter 64

Aeliana's POVThe garden was supposed to be peaceful, a time out from the chaos of the past days. But peace felt like a foreign concept now, something that belonged to a different version of me—one who didn't carry an ancient, conscious being inside her body, who was normal.I sat on the stone bench near the rose bushes, Caelan beside me with his arm draped protectively across my shoulders. He'd barely let me out of his sight since telling me about what happened that night.I understood his fear. I shared it. But understanding didn't make the constant hovering any less suffocating."You're tense," Caelan murmured, his thumb tracing circles on my shoulder."I'm fine.""

  • The Alpha's Forgotten Mate   Chapter 63

Aeliana's POV"There's something else," I said quietly, looking away. "Something I haven't told you."His posture tensed. "What?""The dreams I've been having. They're not normal dreams." I wrapped my arms tighter around myself. "They feel like memories, but they're not mine. I see places I've never been. People I don't recognize. And sometimes...""Sometimes what?""Sometimes I wake up knowing things I shouldn't. Even languages I never learned. Information about magic I've never touched." I finally met his eyes. "What if those aren't dreams? What if it's this thing, showing me things? Or, you know, preparing me for something?"The wariness spiked again through the bond, but Caelan's expr

  • The Alpha's Forgotten Mate   Chapter 62

Aeliana's POVWarmth surrounded me, but not the kind that brings comfort. This was a suffocating, restrictive kind, like being wrapped in bands of iron that were pretending to be arms.Soft sheets brush against my skin, and morning light filters through the curtains. Caelan’s body is pressed against mine, warm and solid, his arms wrapped around me like he’s afraid I’ll slip away if he lets go.His breath is steady against my neck, but mine isn’t because his grip on me makes it difficult to be even.My first thought was that it was sweet. Protective, even…well, if one overlooks his attempt to murder me with his grip. He was probably still shaken from yesterday… from finding me unconscious in the garden, but I would really like to breath

  • The Alpha's Forgotten Mate   Chapter 61

Caelan's POVHer glowing eyes fixed on me, and I saw something flicker, recognition or maybe curiosity."You love her."It wasn't a question. The voice...or voices, I still couldn't tell...seemed almost curious about this fact."Yes.""Even without knowing what she carries? Or what danger that brings?"My jaw clenched. "I don't care what she carries. I love her, not the power, not the key, or whatever you are. I just want her, only her."All I receive is silence. But the symbols slowed their rotation, and the light dimmed, just slightly. Eventually I could breathe again."Your bond is strong," the voice said, and it sounded almost... surprised. "Stronger than we expected.""The mate bond doesn't break," I said, my voice steady despite the fear still clawing at my chest. "Not for power or for danger and definitely not for anything. So whatever you're doing to her, stop it and let her go.""We do not hold her. She holds us. We are awaking because she allows it.""Then put her back to s
