LOGINSOMMY BLACKWOOD POV
"Do not cry, Zanele, I am coming right now to your side," Ronan Wolfhart says into his phone. His voice is very soft and gentle.
He never looks at me with that sweet face. He only looks at me like that because I look just like her. It hurts my heart so much. I hate my own face because I look like a girl who is not me. I am just a fake mate for him to use.
"Kellan Stormfang will take you to the pack healer soon," Ronan says to me after he hangs up his phone.
"You really do not believe my words?" I ask him. I feel like I am in a bad dream.
"No, I do not believe you," Ronan says. He is very mean.
"Okay," I say, and I squeeze my lips together.
"Go tell Matriarch Esi Wolfhart about our divorce fast," Ronan says as he walks around the room.
"She is very sick these days," I say, looking at his big, scary face. "Are you sure you want me to tell her today?"
"Yes, Zanele cannot wait anymore," Ronan says.
He does not even care if his grandmother dies. He only cares about his first moonbond. I know I lost this fight. I lost everything today.
"Fine," I say, and I nod my head. "But you must give me three days. Do not rush me."
"Okay," Ronan says. "Do not make me mad."
"I never make you mad," I say with a small smile that hurts my face. "I was a good mate to you for three years in the Wolfhart Moonkeep."
Ronan stops walking. He knows I am telling the truth. I always do everything he wants, especially when we sleep on the same bed. He likes my body a lot. He does not want to lose that part of me.
"Good," Ronan says. He goes into his big room to put on his clothes.
I stay under the heavy blanket. Is this really the end of my life with him? I feel so sad, but I cannot stop him. He is the Supreme Alpha.
After he goes away, I get up from the bed. I wash my face and put on a nice dress. I want to go see Matriarch Esi Wolfhart. But when I walk out the door, Kellan Stormfang is standing there.
"What do you want?" I ask him. I cross my arms and look at him with a mad face.
Kellan looks very confused. He thinks I am a sweet little wolf when Ronan is here, but now I am very angry.
"Supreme Alpha Ronan wants me to take you to the healer bloodline," Kellan says.
"Hmph!" I say. "You guys do not trust me at all."
Kellan does not say anything back to me.
"Take me to Moonscar City Top Healing Centre," I tell him.
That is the biggest place for sick wolves in the whole Lycan Dominion. It has the best things for wolves. Kellan looks at me like I am being too proud.
"Is it too hard for you to drive me there?" I ask him very coldly.
"No, Luna," Kellan says fast. "Please get inside the car."
I get in the car. I do not have any makeup on my face, but I still look pretty. I just look out the window at the trees and the roads. I chose this place because my parents, the late Blackthorn healers, worked there before the Bloodmoon Blaze. I was born there, too. All the old healers there love me like a daughter. They will help me if I ask them to hide a secret.
"We are here, Luna," Kellan says after a long time.
I jump a little and get out of the car. Kellan walks behind me. He wants to talk, but he stays quiet. We walk to the room for mothers and babies.
"Stop right there, Kellan," I say, turning around. "Boys cannot come inside this room."
Kellan looks at the sign on the door, and his face gets very red. "I understand, Luna."
I turn and walk inside the room.
"Elder Kairo Duskwalker," I say to the healer.
Kairo looks at me, and his eyes get huge. "Sommy! Is that really you? I saw your name on the paper and thought it was another wolf."
"Yes, it's me," I say, and I sit on the chair.
"Are you here to see if you have a pup?" Kairo asks.
I nod my head. "I think I have a pup inside me, Kairo. But you must hide it from everyone. Do not tell anyone."
"Why would I do that?" Kairo asks. He looks very shocked.
"I am getting a divorce from Ronan," I say, and I look down. "I want to keep my baby, but the Supreme Alpha will make me throw it away. Please help me."
"Why are you doing this, Sommy?" Kairo says. He looks very angry and sad for me. "It is too hard to raise a wolf pup all by yourself."
"I know," I say. "But I have packed resources. I can buy food and a house for my pup."
"This is not about resources!" Kairo shouts. "Who is your mate? When you got married, you never told me his name. Tell me right now! Is he treating you badly because your parents are dead?"
"It is better if you do not know his name, Kairo," I say. My face feels very cold and white. "I knew this would happen when I accepted the bond. Now we are done. I just want to leave Moonscar City with my baby when the divorce is finished."
I cannot stay here. Ronan will smell the pup if I stay. Kairo looks like his heart is breaking for me because I have no pack to protect me.
"Sommy, you should go tell Matriarch Esi Wolfhart," Kairo says. "She loves you like her own blood. And Ronan treats you like a sister, right? He will kill the bad wolf who did this to you."
I look away from him. "I cannot tell the Wolfhart bloodline about this. Please, just help me hide it."
"Okay," Kairo says with a sad face. "Lie down on the table, let me check your belly."
"Okay," I say.
Kairo checks my body and then fixes his glasses. "The pup is eight weeks old inside you. But your body is very weak, and you need more red meat."
"I was born too early when I was a baby," I say. "My body is always like this."
"Does your mate know you are weak?" Kairo asks.
"He never asks me about my body," I say, and I feel like crying.
Ronan gives me lots of food and things, but he never asks if I am sick. He just tells the old maid Lady Adanna Wolfhart to watch me. He only gives me pack resources, nothing else.
Kairo sighs and gives me a white paper. "This is the paper you want. Think about this carefully, Sommy."
I look at the paper and laugh a little bit. "It does not matter what I want. In this mate bond, the Supreme Alpha has all the power."
I stand up to walk away, but Kairo calls my name.
Left alone under the towering stone arches, Ronan stares at the carved wooden doors. His chest feels tight, as if an iron band is slowly crushing his lungs. For an entire year, he thought he could survive the silence. He thought the bond-severing would cure the madness. But seeing her today—healthy, beautiful, her dark hair glowing under the sun, her skin flushed with life instead of the pale gray of death—makes his wolf claw at his ribs, screaming to tear the world apart just to hold her once more. When Ronan finally steps back into the grand dining hall, the room is filled with quiet laughter.Sommy sits between Adanna and Matriarch Esi, her soft voice carrying over the gentle clinking of crystal and silver. But the moment Ronan takes his seat at the far end of the long mahogany table, the room falls dead silent."Must you sit there?" Adanna mutters, rolling her eyes."It is my seat," Ronan says emotionlessly, his eyes fixed entirely on Sommy.I keep my gaze locked onto my plate, fo
"I am not asking for your permission, Ronan," I say, keeping my voice smooth as ice as I set my crystal glass on the polished mahogany table with a quiet thud. "I am telling you."Matriarch Esi Wolfhart and my brother, Tarian Blackthorn, sit across from us, their expressions frozen.Ronan Wolfhart's dark, golden Lycan eyes narrow into dangerous slits. "Is that so?" His low, rumbling voice vibrates through the floorboards like distant thunder. He doesn't glance at the crucial pack alliance documents he rushed back to retrieve, tossing them onto the table as if they mean nothing."Come now, Sommy, eat your sweet-berries," Matriarch Esi says, breaking the suffocating tension by sliding a small bowl toward me. Her sharp eyes dart to her grandson, shooting him a warning glare. "These were brought straight from the Frostfang Hollow border this morning.""Thank you, High Alpha Elder," I say, forcing a soft smile as I take the bowl.Across from me, Tarian leans back in his velvet chair, his j
"Kellan, I'm fine. Let's leave," I say calmly, turning away from my ex-mate.Kellan shoots his cousin a look of absolute disgust. "A word of advice, Supreme Alpha. Don't make a complete fool of yourself in front of the entire council."Without waiting for a response, Kellan takes my hand and leads me down the terrace stairs.Ronan doesn't move. He stands under the pale moonlight, his fists clenched so tight his claws draw blood from his palms.A fool? he thinks bitterly. We will see who has the last laugh, cousin. The ride back to the Blackthorn Estate is quiet. I stare out the carriage window at the glowing neon runes of the city's market district, my thoughts far away."Relax, Sommy," Kellan says softly, breaking the silence. "You're going to cross paths with him again. It's inevitable while you're in Moonscar City, especially when you go to see Matriarch Esi.""I know, Kellan," I reply, my voice steady. "You don't have to worry about me. I know how to handle Ronan now."Kellan purs
I knit my brows, my chest tightening with frustration. "I don't know.""Ronan, why do you need to know?" Kellan sneers, stepping slightly between us so his massive shoulder blocks Ronan's line of sight. "You don't plan on lying in wait like a rogue when she visits Matriarch Esi at the Wolfhart Moonkeep, do you?"He is laying Ronan's manipulative tactics bare right in front of me. I might have been a young, naive female once, but I am not that innocent little pup who fell for every dark, possessive word out of Ronan's mouth. Not anymore. Never again.I shoot Ronan a sharp, sidelong glance. He thinks he can still play mind games with me, but he is dead wrong."I will visit the Matriarch whenever my schedule allows," I say, setting my crystal glass down on the stone table with a sharp tap. "I don't need your permission or your interference, Supreme Alpha."Without waiting for his response, I wrap my fingers tightly around Kellan’s forearm and pull him away, striding toward the grand arch
I slam the door of my quarters shut, my heart hammering against my ribs like a trapped wild beast. Pulling out my communication stone, I tap the glowing blue rune and connect to Kellan Stormfang.“Kellan, are you out of your mind? Why on earth did you agree to Tarian’s insane scheme?” My voice cracks, sharp with anger and panic.“Don’t yell at him, Sommy. I made the call,” Kellan replies, his smooth tone completely unfazed.I drop onto the edge of the carved wooden bed with a heavy sigh. “Thank you, Kellan. I know you’re trying to shield me, but you don’t have to sacrifice your own reputation for my sake. I can never repay what you’ve done for me.”“Have you ever considered repaying me with yourself?” Kellan asks, a quiet, dangerous humor laced in his voice.Speechless, I grip the stone tighter, my throat tight.Kellan lets out a low, dry chuckle across the link. “I’m just messing with your head. Will you attend the Grand Council Gala with me tonight? I already informed the Alpha High
Ronan. What is the Supreme Alpha of the Wolfhart Bloodline doing at a public transit hub?I pull my fur collar up around my chin, my fingers trembling slightly beneath my leather gloves, though I force my posture to remain upright and proud.Ronan’s dark golden eyes lock onto me instantly.Even with the silk veil hiding my nose and mouth, his wolf knows my scent. The air between us grows instantly thin, charged with a dark, suffocating tension that makes every wolf in the square lower their heads to the cobbles.Tarian steps slightly in front of me, his hand resting on the hilt of his short-blade. “Don't be afraid, Sommy. He cannot touch you under international Healer immunity.”“I am not afraid,” I whisper back, though my heart is beating violently against my ribcage. “He is probably here to meet a high-ranking diplomat from the Royal Lycan Court.”Before I can take another step, a towering shadow falls across the stone floor.A heavy, rich scent of fresh cedarwood, dark leather, and
