SOMMY BLACKWOOD POV

"Why do you look so scared?" Ronan Wolfhart says as he walks out of the washroom.

He only has a cloth on his waist. His arms are huge. His chest is big and strong. He looks like a powerful alpha. He is the Supreme Alpha of the Wolfhart Bloodline, and he rules Moonscar City.

"Can we just skip the divorce?" I ask.

My voice is small. My hands shake under the fur blanket. I feel small on this big bed inside the Wolfhart Moonkeep. I have bite marks on my neck from last night, but my body feels so cold.

"Why are you acting like a baby?" Ronan says. His eyes are very cold. "Zanele Nightshade is back in the Lycan Dominion."

My heart stops. It feels like a big rock has fallen on me.

"I know she is back," I say.

Zanele Nightshade is his first moonbond from when they were kids. But she is an unclaimed blood heir, so the pack did not want her.

"She does not belong to a real pack," Ronan says, sitting next to me. "But you do. Your parents died for us."

"They were the late Blackthorn healers," I whisper. "They died in the Bloodmoon Blaze."

"Yes," Ronan says. "They saved Matriarch Esi Wolfhart from the fire. That is why my grandmother made me take you as my mate. She was sick. The pack healers said she would die. I had to do it to make her happy."

"You told me you would never love me," I say. My eyes get wet.

"And I kept my word," Ronan says. "I told you that for three years, you would be the Luna. After that, we divorced. I will give you plenty of pack resources when you leave."

I look at his face. I did not marry him for pack resources. I married him because I loved him since I was a little girl. Now my dream is totally broken. I am just a weak little wolf to him.

"Ronan," I call him.

His eyes change when I say his name. He always gets wild when we are close like this. He thinks I am trying to trick him with my soft voice.

"What?" he asks.

"Ronan, I have a pup inside me," I say.

His face gets very dark and angry. "What did you say?"

I get so scared that my legs shake. "I am pregnant with your pup."

"Get rid of it," Ronan says fast.

"What?" I look at him, shocked.

"I said get rid of it!" he shouts. His face is full of anger. "A pup will not stop this divorce. I do not want any baby to get in the way of Zanele and me."

My face goes totally white. He wants to kill his own blood. He is so cold.

I start to laugh, but it hurts.

"Why are you laughing?" Ronan growls.

"I am not pregnant," I say, wiping my eye. "I lied to you."

"You lied?" Ronan grips my arm hard.

"Yes," I say. "We can go to the pack healer right now if you do not believe me."

"Good," Ronan says, letting go. "Because if you were, you would have to abort it. I can give you an extra pack of territory so you can heal your body. It will help you find a second mate in another pack."

"A second mate?" I ask. I feel like crying. "I do not want your extra things. I am not pregnant."

Ronan grabs my chin. "What will you do after the divorce?"

I put my arms around his big neck. "I want to work in the Lycan High Council."

Ronan looks surprised. I studied leadership in the Northern Pack Territories before we married. I could have been a great leader if I had not married him.

"Fine," Ronan says. "I will change the divorce papers. I will make sure the Council gives you a top job in five years."

"It does not matter," I say. "How will you tell Matriarch Esi Wolfhart about this?"

Ronan looks mad because his grandmother hates Zanele.

"You will tell her," Ronan says coldly. "She loves you. If you make her agree, I will give you a whole new pack house for yourself."

I want to scream. He thinks everything is about pack houses and resources. He does not care that my heart is in pieces.

"Okay," I say. "Ronan, hold me one last time tonight."

"You really know how to get what you want," Ronan says. He pulls me close and kisses me hard.

He holds me like he wants to break me. He acts like he wants to take everything from me before I go away forever.

The next morning, a loud sound wakes me up.

A phone is buzzing on the table. Ronan usually keeps it totally quiet because he knows I hate loud noises in the morning. He used to protect me from small things like that.

But today, it is very loud.

I reach out to grab it so I can give it to him. Then I see the name on the screen. It says Zanele Nightshade.

My hands go numb. He changed the settings because he is waiting for her call. He wants to make sure he hears her.

I sit up fast. My whole body is shaking. I finally see the truth after three long years. I am just a fake mate. He only kept me near him because I look exactly like Zanele.

The officer nodded respectfully and withdrew to begin tracing the rogue's escape route.Gemma fell to her knees in front of me, her hands shaking uncontrollably as she touched the blood on my coat. She dealt with dead wolves every single day in the trauma ward, but seeing her own brother’s blood smeared over my skin shattered her cold composure.“Gemma... I am so sorry,” I sobbed, tears spilling over my bruised cheeks. “He took the war club for me. It should be me lying on that operating table!”“Stop it, Sommy!” Gemma gasped, gripping my face tightly with her cold fingers. “Darius would tear this city apart before he ever let an assassin touch a hair on your head. Don't you dare blame yourself!”The heavy red light above the surgical doors suddenly clicked off.Dr. Shawn Green stepped out, pulling off his bloodied gloves with a dark scowl.“Dr. Green! How is my brother?” Gemma rushed forward, her voice desperate.“The skull fracture is severe, and his inner wolf is struggling to seal

“Because I don’t love him anymore,” I said, my voice dropping to a harsh whisper.Darius blinked, his dominant scent spiking with sudden shock. “You don’t love him?”He clearly thought I was still helplessly obsessed with Ronan. Last night, when he caught me screaming hysterically at the Supreme Alpha outside the venue, he assumed my heart was completely shattered because I was still desperately in love. A she-wolf only tore her own soul apart like that when her mate bond meant everything to her.“He never recognized your true worth, Sommy,” Darius growled out softly, his jaw set hard.“My worth means nothing to an Alpha whose eyes are fixed elsewhere,” I replied, taking a ragged breath. “Let’s drop his name. You always swore you’d join the Lycan Enforcement Corps when we were pups, and here you are, wearing the High Officer crest.”Darius let out a faint, dry laugh. “I only pushed for this rank because of you.”I froze, staring at him. Years ago, back before the Blackthorn Healers we

SOMMY BLACKWOOD POVRonan read Zanele's frantic message on his communicator screen and his golden eyes darkened into a tight scowl. He typed back: I have located a compatible bone marrow donor for your treatment. Now we simply wait for the she-wolf to consent.Zanele replied within seconds: A match? Why didn't you tell me sooner, my Alpha?Ronan: I wanted to secure her absolute compliance before making promises to you.Zanele: Has this donor demanded terms? Do they want land in the territory, silver coin, or elevated pack status?Ronan: The matter is complicated. Focus on resting. I will handle her.Zanele: I trust you implicitly, Ronan. I will wait for you.Ronan: Get some rest now. I will arrive at the clinic by daylight. He tossed his device onto the nightstand and turned to stare coldly at my pale, sleeping face resting against the white pillows. How was he going to force me to surrender my marrow to save his childhood moonbond? Ronan stiffened as if I had struck him with a silver blade, his golden eyes darkening into a stormy gloom."Ronan, it's not that I want to delay the divorce," I said, wiping the last of my tears as my voice went stone cold. "Matriarch Esi is terribly ill, and I was terrified the news of our bond breaking would kill her. But I can't do this anymore."I looked him dead in the eye, my voice steady despite the tremor in my chest. "We will sign the papers tomorrow at the Royal Lycan Court. We can keep the truth hidden from your grandmother until her health stabilizes. Meet me at the High Elder's office at noon tomorrow."Without waiting for his response, I pulled myself into the back seat and pulled the dark privacy door shut.I curled my body into a tight ball on the leather seat, staring out at the passing shadow of the trees as the driver hit the gas.I hadn't wanted our marriage to end in such a chaotic, explosive fight.I had intended to walk away quietly, preserving whatever tiny shr

SOMMY BLACKWOOD POVDarius Thornridge knocked firmly on the wooden frame after ending his call with the Wolfhart guards.I was standing inside the doorway when the wooden entrance creaked open, my body still shivering from the shower, my face pale as death."I brought some roasted game meat," Darius said, his voice flat as he looked at my fragile frame. It felt incredibly awkward facing him, considering we both bore the phantom scars of the Bloodmoon Blaze that wiped out our families."Thank you," I whispered, stepping back to let the border enforcer step inside the small cottage.Darius placed the wrapped meal onto the rough table. "It's still warm from the hearth. Eat up.""Seraphina went to work her shift at the Top Healing Center," I murmured, my hand resting gently over my hidden bump. "I didn't expect her to become a high-ranking pack nurse. She's amazing."Darius froze, his amber wolf eyes darkening. "Nothing is amazing about it. There are dozens of healers in Moonscar City who

SOMMY BLACKWOOD POV"That won't be necessary. Matriarch Esi Wolfhart is in poor health, so it would be better if you don't tell her, lest she worry for me," I said, my voice trembling as I clutched the blanket over my chest."Have you been alone throughout the years, Sommy?" Seraphina Ravenshade hung her head low as she sat beside me on the cottage couch, her hands clasped tight."I suppose," I replied softly, my heart aching with the weight of my secret pup."You suppose? What does that mean?" Seraphina asked, her eyes full of deep confusion.I pulled my lips into a thin, bitter line, the phantom scent of Ronan's heavy Alpha aura still clinging to my senses.Ever since I accepted the forced mate bond to Ronan Wolfhart, I was mostly alone, even though we shared a bed every night in the Wolfhart Moonkeep."Sommy, you're quite lucky. You at least have Matriarch Esi caring for you," Seraphina said, her tone dipping into dark sorrow. "Darius Thornridge and I are different. Neither of us h
