Chapter 29: The Explanation

We stared at each other, both with wide eyes. Fuck, I didn’t mean to say that. I covered my mouth and turned away quickly. I attempted to leave because I didn’t want to explain anything yet, but my father held onto my arm. 

“What did you just say?” He looked at me, perplexed. “Am I hearing right? Did you just say…. baby? Then, why…. why are you here?”

I looked at him with tears in my eyes. I was so tired. I’ve been enduring the pain all alone these past few days. I broke down in front of the man that hasn’t seen me for more than ten years. He looked at me, worried, and placed my head onto his shoulder. I sobbed into his shoulder, my breathing becoming ragged. He held me, and I hadn’t felt this warmth in such a long time. Was this what it’s like to have a family?

“What’s wrong with my baby girl? Is it me? Come, I’m sorry. I’m sorry.”
