Chapter 5 Rejection?

(Nikita's P.O.V.)

I went back to the venue and left Beta Poppy shortly after. I kind of regret raising my voice at her. I knew that she only wanted to comfort me and that she was just following orders. I shouldn't have let my temper get the best of me.

I'm just a little worried that Alpha Trojan will announce me as his mate later. How should I react to that?

I don't want to hear it, and I might lose my temper and attack him on the spot.

"Nikita..." Alpha Lucia called me in a small but stern voice. I forced myself to look at her in spite of the feeling of sulking I have towards her. "I want you to watch the ceremony carefully." She gave me a commanding look. I nodded my head in a yielding manner.

It looks like I'm going to be forced to watch the man I hate speaking in front of me.

I calmed myself and looked at the stage.

"Thank you for coming, everyone. I appreciate each and every one of you for being present at my son's oath-taking ceremony," Alpha Leon started his opening message. I looked at the stage boredly. "Introducing, the heir of the Blue Moon Pack!" he introduced cheerfully, followed by the loud applause of everyone inside the venue.

A tall guy came out backstage and walked in front. His big, handsome smile melted all the ladies in the venue. I'm not going to lie. He looks astonishing in his suit. It was fancier than the last one he was wearing earlier.

He gets the microphone from his father.

"Thank you, Dad."

Alpha Leon proudly tapped his son's shoulder before leaving the platform for him.

Trojan faced the crowd confidently.

"I, Trojan Wolfheart, solemnly swear to be a good leader of others by treating them with respect and dignity, no matter what rank they're born with. I will nurture my people's unique gifts and talents and give them opportunities to continue to grow and advance. I will protect them and not let power win over my clean intentions."

His oath echoed in the vastness of the venue. Everyone was just looking at him. All attention is on the man standing on stage with an aura of confidence. He wasn't afraid to look everyone in the eyes, including mine.

"WARRIORS!"

I landed my eyes on the werewolves lining up in front of Trojan.

"We, the warriors of the Blue Moon Pack, swear to serve the new Alpha with loyalty and honesty. Long live the Alpha!"

All of them said that in chorus, and everyone applauded.

The two corners of my lips slowly lifted as I watched Trojan's majestic appearance on stage. He's being bowed at by the werewolves, and he was just looking at them as the crowd clapped their hands in amazement.

So, this is what being powerful looks like.

"Isn't he attractive?"

I immediately closed my mouth when I heard my mother speak. I sheepishly looked at her. She must have seen me star-struck watching Trojan on stage.

I know she only wants me so badly to marry Trojan and be his Luna that's why she asked that. She doesn't really care whether I find him attractive or not. Besides, the answer is no. I don't find him attractive.

"I wasn't looking at him because I find him attractive. I was just feeling envious of the spotlight he's having," I replied firmly. I looked back at the stage. "I don't want to just stand here, nor stand next to Trojan. I want to own the stage and have my own spotlight. I want to be submissive to the crowd."

I don't know where I'm getting all the confidence to tell all of this to Alpha Lucia. She didn't say anything and just turned her attention back to the ceremony.

I was expecting her to stop me from being delusional again, as she calls it, but she just didn't respond. I thought that maybe she just got tired of telling me to know my place. I knew she wouldn't believe me. She never listened to me.

I crossed my arms and watched Trojan as he shook the hands of powerful Alphas in the werewolf world.

I'll be in his shoes soon.

Mark my words.

(Trojan's P.O.V.)

My eyes turned cold as I watched her look at me with adoring eyes. She's slowly blinking, obviously hypnotized by her own imagination. I looked away.

"Don't you see the admiration in her eyes? I think we just made her fall in love by standing here as the new powerful Alpha," Lupus thought.

I scoffed silently.

"What?" my wolf asked in a suspicious manner.

What she said in the forest echoed inside my head again. I closed my eyes, trying to control my anger.

"Nikita is not worshipping us. She's just worshipping her future self."

My grip on the microphone tightened.

"Huh? What do you mean?" Lupus asked confusedly.

"Forget it."

I automatically plastered a smile on my face when I saw my mother looking at me. She waved her hand, cheering me on stage.

But I didn't forget that I had another announcement to make today. I looked at the alphas of each pack, and I was sure they would be shocked when I told them about that plan of mine.

"Once again, thank you to all the alphas for coming. I have a training program that I would like to announce."

"I will be setting up a school in the Blue Moon pack that will provide not only fighting skills but also bookish knowledge, just like the human schools do. Everyone in every wolf pack can apply, and my intention is that everyone, including the other packs, will join forces to create strong werewolves to fight against the rogues."

I catch their attention; I see the joy in their eyes, because not all packs have good training instructors, and I want to create this opportunity for all wolves to make up for the deficiencies of other weaker packs. Although packs will always fight with each other over territory, the school is not only a place to train their skills but also a place for everyone to get to know each other better and break down barriers.

It is also a place where people can get to know each other better, break down barriers, and unite to fight against rogues.

While everyone looked at me with admiration, my eyes only wanted to catch that familiar figure.

My mate, Nikita, and I saw the same affirmation in her eyes.

I guess it's time to announce her as my mate then.

"Tell us about your mate, Alpha!" said the daughter of the alpha of the pack, jumping out of nowhere.

"Just do it!" Lupus urged me too. "You're going to tell everyone anyway, so just say it now. tell everyone that Nikita is our Luna."

With that in mind, I turned my attention to Nikita once again, but her eyes were completely devoid of the elation she had felt before. Her eyes were full of resistance. She even dodged my gaze.

I clenched my fist.

"Do it, Trojan! A woman often likes to express her shyness by denying it, and as long as we announce it in public, I'm sure it would be a very romantic act for any woman." Lupus said excitedly.

Would Nikita think so too? No! I won't declare her as my mate until her temper has become meek. My mate can be a stubborn woman, but not as the Luna of the Blue Moon pack.

I made up my mind. I'm going to say that...

"It's my sad announcement to tell every one of you that I haven't found my mate yet."
