" What do you mean by I have a job to pose as a fake mate ?" I asked my father. I couldn't believe what he had said, he came home lamenting how I had a job as a fake mate to some wolf that I had never met. Why would he agree to a stupid deal without my permission?

"You should stop asking questions and prepare yourself, you are leaving tomorrow and you have no say in it, " He said as he tried to avoid my gaze, of course, he would be too embarrassed to maintain eye contact with me.

" That will not be possible, I will let the Alpha know about this," I said but my father let out a deep chuckle as he took what I had said as funny. It seemed he also want the Alpha to know about it and if I end up telling him, it would only make his work easier and faster.

" You can go ahead to do that, if you must know, Damien is a much stronger werewolf than the Alpha, he can't help you ". I narrowed my eyes. The last time I checked, Sebastian, the Alpha of my pack was one of the strongest werewolves at that time and I was still yet to see a much stronger wolf than him. Does that mean I was finally going to see one? and even work for him.

I became frustrated, my father no longer seemed sorry but instead, his tone and his voice were filled with cockiness.

" What happens to Gabriel, how do I break the news to him? you know how we have been planning to become mates, he has promised to mark me as

his'. " I said but it seemed to have angered my father, he hated whenever I mentioned Gabriel's name.

" Are you seriously thinking of that weak Omega, Damien is a very powerful wolf and a future Alpha, it would be of your benefit if you stay by him even if it is just for a short period " He tried to reason with me but my mind was made up, it was a no for me.

" Why must I choose an Omega, aren't there other suitable werewolves in the pack?" These were the questions he had been asking me. As an Omega, it would only make sense if I was to be a mate to a powerful wolf so I can be protected.

That was the mistake my mother made, she was a very weak Omega same went for my father. He couldn't protect her even till death. I knew that was his reason for debunking me from having an Omega mate and I was very grateful that he cared for me but he can't just force me to go against my will.

' If only I never met your mother, she probably would have been alive.' He often said those words, although I have never met her.

" I have told you to never mention that name, are you trying to embarrass me in front of the pack? " He yelled at me.

Realizing that my father had made up his mind and it would be impossible to convince him, I said nothing more and stomped to my room.

" Don't forget, tomorrow we are leaving!! " he yelled.

Immediately I entered my room, I threw myself to the ground and wept. Although I was just going to act as a mate, I still felt hurt, hurt that my father could make such a drastic decision without my notice, hurt that this could be a reason for Gabriel to leave me, and hurt that I was being treated like a puppet.

After a long while of sobbing, I cleaned my tears since crying and lamenting would be of no help. I decided to go break the news to Gabriel.

I stopped at his door as I constantly rehearsed the words to tell him but something was wrong, I had that feeling of uneasiness, so with hurried steps, I opened the door and rushed up to his room to witness the most heartbreaking scene that had ever cursed her eyes.

There, I saw Gabriel with another lady, a werewolf but she didn't seem to be an Omega.

That was one of the reasons why my father had told me to stay away from him. Gabriel was known for his lust for females, he didn't care about their levels or how powerful they were, he was only after pleasure but it seemed I was ignorant of the signs as I was blinded by the thing called love.

What hurts the most was that Gabriel was so focused on the lady that he didn't realize my presence. I saw the look in his eyes, it was golden brown which meant he had reached the peak of his desire.

With shock taken over me, I couldn't bring myself to say anything, so I slowly left his room. I didn't know what I felt at that moment but it was not jealousy, it felt like anger. I knew why he did it, I had refused to give him my body which he had constantly asked for even when I had told him to wait till we become mates but I guess he had other plans.

The moment I got to my house, my father, who was in the living room, was shocked to see the tears scattered all over my face. I was ashamed to tell him that he was right.

" I have decided to do what you asked! " I blurted out but my father, who was supposed to feel relieved, shook his head in disagreement.

" I don't care what Damien would do to me, seeing you like this makes me sad, there's no amount of torture that would amount to that," He said but the tears kept flowing out which made him fold his face in displeasure, little did he know that my tears were for another reason.

" What's the matter, I said you don't need to pretend to be Damien's mate! " he said.

" No father, I will be a hired mate to Damien after all, it's the least I could do to save our lives, " I said.

My father immediately realized that the tears were not just because of Damien but there was something else, so he walked up to me and gently patted my back.

" Now, tell me what's…. . "

" It's Gabriel, I saw him with a female " I burst into tears.

My father gnashed his teeth, he knew it was inevitable, that was what weak wolves like Gabriel were known for, they tend to commit the evilest crimes but my father couldn't bring himself to feel sorry for me.

He had warned me to stay away from Gabriel but I didn't heed his warning and now, I had paid the price, heartbreak. It would have been understandable if he was an Alpha or a powerful wolf, then I could cry all I want for missing a chance to buy the side of an Alpha or a powerful wolf.

" I knew it, stay away from him but you won't listen, do you expect me to say sorry? " He said.

" I know, it's all my fault and I will do as you said ". I said for a smile to form across my father's face, the so-called Gabriel had made his work easier.

With nothing left to say, I lazily went to my room.

" After all this is done, I will never let you mingle with Omegas again " he murmured.

The first thing I did when I got to my room was to throw myself onto the bed and immediately dived into dreamland since I saw sleep as the only way to pass out time till the next day when I would meet with the stranger who had saved my life.

" Honey, honey wake up, it's time to go ". My father said as he gently shook my body but he was not alone, there was a strange wolf present in my room as he stared intimidatingly at the sleeping log.

Immediately I opened my eyes as I felt a very strong presence in the room, the aura the stranger had emitted was quite intimidating.

The first person I saw was my father who had woken me up and then, the strange presence hiding in the dark corner of the room.

' Was he the one? ' I thought.

" She's awake! " My father said to the strange wolf who seemed to be on the brink of losing his patience.

" Good, let's go! ". He came out of the shadow for me to see his intimidating face. The moment our eyes met, I felt like he had touched my soul with them. He had no emotions on his face, everything was just……. blank!

My father gestured for me to get out of bed which I did.

The stranger sized me from head to toe with his eyes and he didn't even hide it, he could already guess how weak I was.

' Pathetic! ' Anyone who had looked into his eyes would easily guess that was thought the light

" I will take it from here, she is coming with me ", without waiting for anybody to say anything, he aggressively took my hand and dragged me outside my house.
