Chapter Three

KAEL

"Your mum has been worried, you need to come back home, she has refused to eat till she sets her eyes on you". "Dad I'm not a child, you people need to stop treating me like one, I'm on my way back".

I've been away for three days trying to clear my head after I lost my best friend. We got into a fight some days back with a few wolves from a dangerous pack but not as dangerous as ours, we were outnumbered and he was killed. 

Reggie had been my best friend since childhood and our wolves got fond of each other since we became friends. He was like a brother to me, I couldn't bear losing him so I had to run away from the entire pack for days. 

I stopped picking up everyone's calls and replying to messages, I just wanted to be alone and clear my head. But then I got a call that my mum was sick so I had to rush back to go see her, I can't lose any other person, especially not my mum.

My drive home was filled with rants and advise from my dad, reminding me that I was the only child and I would inherit the throne and be in control of the pack when he leaves. 

But that wasn't my problem at the time, I was still angry about losing my best friend, I wanted revenge, I couldn't believe wolves from another pack had the balls to kill someone from our pack, my own best friend. 

Tears filled my eyes and I lost focus, I forgot I was still talking to my dad and put a heavy pressure on the accelerator.

I was moving so damn fast, "watch out!" My wolf screamed, I immediately started matching the breaks. I heard a loud sound and stopped, "I think you hit someone" my wolf whispered. 

I immediately ran out of the car, and I saw a man running towards a truck and drove off, but i ignored him and focused on the lady on the floor, I just hit someone. 

I quickly carried her, put her inside the car and drove real fast. 

"Can you perceive that?" She's human! She's human!, what was she doing out in the forest? And where are you taking her to? My wolf asked with shock."

 "We're going to the private house and doctor Williow will com check up on her, I'll call him now. No-one will find us there" I replied.

"Hey Will, there's an emergency please hurry down to the private house I'll meet you there soon, come alone, I just hit someone" I said with shaky voice.

At that point I didn't know what to do and it seem my wolf was even more confused than me. He kept whispering "She's a human!" While I drove to the private house. 

But there was something special and strange about this human, her smell gave me peace, I wasn't scared because I knew she would survive.

 I kept using the rear view mirror to stare at her occasionally. She had nice dark hair, her skin glowed like the sun and she had a few burns on her body like she got burnt by fire. Her smell was all over the car, even my wolf was just inhaling like he just found his favourite cologne.

"This is not good, you just hit a human. You know what your father said about the human he saw when he was much younger, his own father killed it on the spot she is not going to survive around here, humans have been extinct for years, they don't belong here"

My wolf kept reminding me of things I already knew, of course I know humans have been extinct, and of course I know she would be killed by any wolf that sees her on the spot. But I was happy I found her, I felt she was the one thing I had been looking for, but she was human too. 

"You are not saying anything Kael, what are your plans? I want to know, you just went all soft like a banana the moment you found her, speak up!" My wolf said like he was trying to take charge

"Kane! You speak like you don't feel what I feel too. The connection, the peace she brings, her smell alone is melting my heart, tell me you don't feel the same way" I calmly replied 

"I do but she's human, how do we keep her away from the pack, sooner or later someone is going to find her and it's going to end badly, you will lose that connection you speak of in seconds"

I didn't listen to Kane, I just kept driving and stealing a glance at her while I drove. She's so beautiful and I couldn’t wait to see what her eyes look like.

 I drove fast, and we got close to the abandoned church, that was a sign that we were close to the private house. I quickly called Williow to know if he had arrived and he confirmed he was at the house.

We got to the house and I quickly rushed her in. "Lie her on the sofa, she was badly hit" Williow said.

 He then stopped and looked at her for a second, moved backwards and looked at me in great shock. 

"Where did you find a human? This is not right, why did you bring her with you, why didn't you kill her" he kept asking while his hands shoke like he just saw a dead wolf come back to life. 

"You see what I told you, she is not safe. Not even in the hands of the doctor you trust, humans aren't one of us Kael" my wolf whispered with sadness in his voice. 

Deep down, I knew he wished she wasn't human, looks like we both have fallen for her but he couldn't admit it.

"This is not right, I'm not touching her, I'm not treating her, you have to take her back. She has to leave or I kill her myself!"
