Shadow Pack Hunt

I had called the Shadow pack to have dinner at the packhouse tonight, to celebrate another hunt well done.

Chase and I were discussing how we could train the pack tomorrow as we have overheard how the hunters are training harder to kill us.

Chase is my beta, he is a year younger than me and has black hair and brown eyes.

I appointed him my beta after he showed immense courage at the Elders meeting. There was a knock at the door which stilled the pack, the smell of wolfsbane entering the area even though he is standing outside.

Dakota, a member of the Shadow pack, looked at us in confusion throwing her hands up in the air getting up to open the door, "Please don't all jump at once." she said, rolling her eyes.

I linked Dakota, "There is a hunter at the door. Calm the fuck down!" She nodded before she opened the door.

Dakota opened the door and with her very preppy voice and jump in her step, "Hi, can I help you, sir?" The hunter was wearing a black jacket with the Crescent Hunter crest on his left side of his jacket. He was looking inside as if to look for a stowaway.

Dakota cleared her throat, closing the door a bit more so that he could only focus on her. The hunter gulped looking up at her then smiling.

"Sorry about that ma'am, there was an incident at the Orileys farm and the lady said the perpetrator ran in this direction," he said looking around.

Dakota leaned her head to the side, she then turned to us and jokingly asked, "Anyone decide to go on a killing spree tonight and not tell us?" his face fell as Kade, her mate stepped up and apologised for his mistake.

"Please excuse Kade, sir he was dropped as a child," Chase said mind linking Kade to sit down.

She turned to look at the hunter trying to stop laughing, "I'm sorry sir, you are out of luck. No murderers here."

Closing the door Dakota came and sat back down by Kade, "What the fuck babe? He was a hunter, looking for the wolf who had been on a killing spree, he could have killed you." she said wrapping her hands around his neck.

"If the hunters are looking into this then that means they are looking for wolves," Steph said moving forward in his seat.

Cordelia looked at everyone's facial expression and turned to link only with me, "You don't suppose the Laican is back?"

"Can't be. The elders sent him to slumber with no way of getting out." I replied to her cutting the link off between us. I looked at Chase indicating to him outside on the porch. While the rest of the pack went on doing what they wanted to, discussing the possibility of maybe a rogue werewolf being set loose or a mass murder going on a killing spree.

As Chase and I went out Radley looked at us and blurted out, "Anyone second the opinion that the Laican is at it again?" he said putting his hand up.

I let out a low growl looking at him annoyed at his question. Chase turned to look at him and then turned to me, "It's possible, a new werewolf which has been turned cannot control his anger and claws at anything around him."

Looking at all of them, I looked at Chase and said: "If it's the Laican, we will need to do patrols at night, taking shifts between the pack wolves." Radley being the coward that he is, "You want me," he said pointing at himself, "to go out there, in my wolf form while hunters are out there and look for a Laican who can kill me in just one flick of a hand?"

"You as an omega are supposed to listen to your Alpha, you nitwit!" Chase said through his teeth.

We followed Chase inside to where the rest of the pack was and informed them of our decision to do patrolling at night. Some of the girls started getting excited while others didn't look pleased. The boys all looked at us confused and started asking questions about the Laican and what would happen if they die.

Reassuring them Chase and I dismissed the pack and informed them that we would take the first patrol.

Both Chase and I circled around the lake and near the packhouse but did not pick up any scent of a Laican. We moved over to the park on the east side nearby some houses in the woods. I felt eyes on us as we were sniffing around but ignored it hoping it was just a pass by.

Mate! My wolf inside kept shouting.

"You go ahead, I'll catch up with you in a bit." I linked with Chase and he walked off sniffing further.

Mate! Mate! Mate! My wolf howls became louder.

I saw a small human figure staring at me from afar, she had a bow and arrow in her hand and she was aiming it at me. My heart began racing and I started running towards the lake, without a second thought she shot an arrow at me and it grazed my shoulder.

I let out a growl and made my way towards her. She reloaded the arrow and before she could shoot it at me I managed to grip it in my teeth and break it.

I spat it out, cringing at the subtle taste of wolfbane.

She swung a knife at me and I just missed it, I couldn't concentrate with my wolf constantly screaming here in my mind, mate. I staggered back looking into her crystal blue eyes, I almost got lost in them when she swung the knife at me, cutting into my shoulder.

I let out a growl and lunged forward scratching her neck in defence.

She yelled out in pain falling to the ground, "Go check if she's okay." my wolf said, I shook my head dismissing the thought

She was beautiful, her hair was jet black and long, her skin was fair and had an olive tone to it, her build was small but not too small, she can fight and she looks like she can kick my ass if I get on her nerves.

Walking towards her, I took in her scent as she lay there in pain when I heard Chase's call. I howled and made my way back to the packhouse.

"She will be okay. She is one of us. She is my mate." my wolf said reassuring me.

After Chase and I briefed the pack about what we found, I informed them to keep their eyes out for hunters while they do patrols as well.

Closing the meeting we dismissed the pack, I made my way upstairs to my room where I lay down staring at my ceiling.

I couldn't help but go back to the park where I had met my mate, she was wearing a black tight short with a black tank top, she had a harness for her knives and guns which hugged her toned thighs perfectly. I wanted her here but she was a sworn enemy of ours. How do I introduce a hunter to the pack and trust that she won't kill them off?

I spent the rest of the night thinking about scenarios on how I can meet her again until I was pulled into a dark sleep.
