Vaughan Pov

“Hybrid?”. I repeated after her, as my eyes landed on Raven. How is that true? Hybrids weren’t even common amongst our kind. Mating with another kind was something that had been against wolves for as long as I could remember.

“She can’t be…I mean she would know if she was one”.

“You don’t get it. Look at her, and tell me you don’t find her odd about her”.

I hate the way she used the word ‘odd’ for my mate. If there’s anything my mate was, she was never odd in my eyes.

“There is nothing wrong with her”.

“No, I did not mean something was wrong with her, but take a good look at her hair, her skin”. Minka argued.

I stared at Raven. Her hair color had always looked beautiful to me, it was gray at the root, but it was beautiful. Her skin was just the perfect tone, although more fairer than normal.

“No matter how hard you try to insist that she isn’t different, deep down inside you know the truth”.

“So…I agree that she is perfectly different, but everyone can’t be the same

Vaughan’s Pov What could have happened to her in the past that she had thought I would kill her for being a hybrid? “She might have been subjected to some sort of mistreatment in the past regarding her being a hybrid”. Minka said, confirming my thoughts. I felt a fiery rage surge through my bloodstream, at the thought that she had been maltreated. I recalled the burn on her thighs, as I refocused my gaze on her.“You think I would kill you? Just because you are a hybrid?”. I snorted. She thinks I cared about a rule that was created centuries ago by god knows who?“Look here”. I held her face in my palms, raising her head to mine. ”I will not hurt you, at least not because you are a hybrid”. She was breathing heavily, and I saw the rise and fall of her chest. “I don’t belong here. Hybrids shouldn’t stay in packs, no one wants me here”. It seems she was uttering the words just like she had heard from others, and now it was engraved in her head.“I decide who stays here or not”. I sn

Vaughan Pov “You need to help her in rediscovering her gifts, because they are of great advantage over the creature lurking around”. Minka said as soon as we entered my office.“How are her abilities an advantage to us?”. I sat down, feeling a migraine making its way through my head. “She saved the children. All victims we have had in the past, all died before we could even get to them, but she saved them, don’t you get it?”. Minka was right, but Raven shouldn’t be the only option.Letting her know about the situation with the recent attacks wasn’t something I had in my mind, but I guess with the new development of things I had no choice. Yet it should be when she was mentally stable.“She had no idea of how it happened, I bet if she was placed in that same position again, things might go wrong”. “You aren’t her mouthpiece”. She jabbed her index finger at me. Using my position against her wasn't the best idea, that was why I kept a leash on my temper. “She needs to learn more abou

Raven PovI should be asleep by now, after missing the most important part of my night’s rest, but my mind was overwhelmed by everything that had happened.I held the blanket close to my body. It felt as if I was dreaming, and all these things that happened were just an illusion to trap my mind. Yet the only situation that made me realize everything was real was the fact I had lost my hearing. I had saved the children, and that was my only solace at the moment. Nothing could have ever prepared me for this. Alpha Vaughan had told me a while ago that it was all linked to who I was. I had hidden gifts that needed to be acknowledged.Being a hybrid I didn't expect much from anyone or life itself. All my life I had to deal with the consequences of being a hybrid. Everyone detested a hybrid, and I had to constantly hide my identity. I always knew I was odd. When Riev got his wolf, and years later I didn’t. It was a hard time knowing mine wasn’t there, and might never show up, but Riev ha

Raven Pov I woke up with a warmth behind me. I turned around, and I was met with Alpha Vaughan’s sleepy tousled hair, and face. He was still sleeping and shirtless. I could see the hair spread across his chest. My hands itched to touch it.When he finally pried his eyes open, I could swear that the room brightened up a notch, as he flashed me a small smile. I felt my insides melting slowly like butter under the sun. His arms tightened up around my body. His tongue peeked out to wet his lips, and my eyes traced his movements, wishing his lips were on mine. It was as if he heard my thoughts, because he suddenly moved his head forward, his lips a few inches from mine. I closed my eyes in delight, and inched closer to him, ready for the kiss, but a flash of brightness hit my face, making it quite hard for me to keep my eyes shut. I opened my eyes, shocked at the intensity of the brightness. It was more than I had ever imagined. I scanned the room befuddled at the change of scenery, and

Vaughan’s Pov“Who got the newest mated Alpha all steamed up?”. Hank asked, as he strolled into the office, as if he owned it. He pissed the heck out of me.“So, who is your newest bed warmer?”. Gale asked Hank, after he settled on the chair close to him. He sipped his tea slowly, but I doubt it was tea in there.I had an emergency meeting with the two of them, after the little chaos of the previous day. “None of your goddamn business”. Hank replied coolly.“It’s mine because one of them made Fia angry the other day”. Gale spat at him. Gale never joked around with his mate’s wellbeing. He was a damn loyal partner. “It wasn’t my fault that the bitch I brought here was rude to your mate”. Hank snapped.“Stop it! I didn’t call you guys for this. When we are done, you are free to go for each other’s throats”. I used my Alpha’ tone. They were able to at least stop scowling at each other. They always behaved like cats and dogs. At times it was fun to watch, but we have a lot to do. “What

Raven’s PovI got out of the room, and I was befuddled at the man that stood outside. I had been sleeping throughout the morning, and I felt bored more than ever. He slightly dipped his head at me, and I was yet reminded about the obvious fact that I was mated to an Alpha. Any treatments I got was due to Alpha Vaughan’s authority, but it didn’t sit well with me. Being a Luna came with its own responsibility, which I would gladly evade for something else.At the bottom of the stairs a young girl stood there. I noticed the way her face brightened up, as I began descending the stairs. Can’t I be alone without anyone around me like a fly? I’m not breakable. She bowed to me, and I felt like rolling my eyes at all these formalities. She handed me a notepad.‘Hi, I’m Elsie. The Alpha assigned me to take you to Minka’s house”. Had she been standing here, waiting for me since morning?. Instantly I felt guilty, and I gave her an apologetic smile. She was nice enough to jot down things for me.

Raven’s PovFew days later…“No, I don't think I mastered it enough”. I said to Jade. She quickly wrote something down, and gave me the note, giving me a puppy look. ‘I trust you, just give it a try’. I gave her a worried look, indecisive of what to do.Minka had been teaching me a few techniques on how to seek out my suppressed gifts. It requires concentration, and deep meditation. The first day had been very difficult for me. She was very stern, and didn’t tolerate any slacking off. I had shed a few tears of frustration, but had never complained. Even when Alpha Vaughan had asked me about my experience, I had told him I was good. I wasn’t going to whine like a spoiled child, when everything was done for my own sake. But I was already getting used to it. Alpha Vaughan always came to pick me up from Minka’s house, whenever I was done with my practices. Sometimes he acted as if I was a piece of fragile glass that was going to break, due to his constant concern about me. Everything

  • The Alpha’s Hybrid Luna   Chapter 28

Vaughan’s PovI had wanted to surprise her, but I knew it was a big mistake, when I sensed her overwhelming fear. Paying Dorian a visit was to know the whereabouts of her brother. Since my men had searched for him thoroughly, and he was nowhere to be found. The thought that he might be here was something that had just occurred to me last night. That was why I hid the truth about our visitation from her. Dorian had no idea Raven was my mate, and had thought I would use her as my slave and kill her at the end. But seeing the way my mate trembled beside me, gave me all the clues I needed about him. “Breathe Raven. Breathe”. I said soothingly to her, even though I knew she could not hear me. I glided her body to mine, as Hank pulled into Dorian’s driveway. Her body was stiff. I had heard everything he did to hybrids, and I knew for certain that even though he might not have maltreated her physically he had hurt her psychologically. I heard his method of punishment was so sickening. It

Raven povHours earlier in Matoma village…“What is her name?”. The lady at the village’s clinic asked, after I asked about Maggie. She pulled out a big wrinkled old book of record, underneath a book she was writing on. I saw her trace the previous day’s date, and my eyes widened in shock at the number of people who visited the clinic. It was an outrageous number of people.I then surveyed the crowded space, discovering the people around were mostly injured people around. Why were there so many injured people? Some limped around, or cradled their arms. I saw a young girl who was still in her teens with a bandage on her head. My heart immediately went out for her. Was it a normal thing to get hurt all the time or I was missing something?“She had been discharged”. The lady said, “...but her condition was severe yesterday”. I said. She shouldn't be discharged, Altair’s hit had been too fatal. “Are you sure…?”. He had told me not to bring her up, so it was for me to make sure she was ok

Vaughan povI banged incessantly, on Minka’s wooden door. I was holding back from taking it to the ground because of the respect I had for her privacy. I checked the wristwatch on me, and it was already past six. I have been here for the past fifteen minutes, and yet she hadn't shown up. “How long are you going to take? It's been three days already”. I yelled, as I continued to hit the door. I didn't close my eyes a wink throughout the night, and kept watch till it was morning. I didn't see Riev, after he left the dungeons yesterday, but I knew he was around also waiting for Minka’s arrival this morning. She was our last resort. After another fifteen minutes, and at my wits end, she finally opened her door, her face groggy from sleep, but I knew she hadn't been sleeping because the lights in her room were shining bright as daylight.“Why are you here?”. She asked, squinting her eyes, in confusion, which made the hairs on my neck stand up immediately. Had she forgotten what she told m

Raven povDusk came in a blur, and I found myself still mulling over the reason why I wasn't happy. I had a husband who loves me, and any girl would love to be in my position as his wife, yet I wasn't satisfied. Something was obviously lacking in his love. Although I believed he cared for me, the rational part of me could sense he was keeping some things away from me. Bored to death, with Maggie who wasn't in the room, to keep me company. I left the room with no intention of having dinner. I didn't feel like eating at the moment, but I knew I would have a late night snack. It was something I did all the time. I caught myself immediately, realizing I didn’t even recall ever having a late snack here, but deep in my mind I knew it was something I did often. Lost in my thoughts I didn't realize when I lost my way. Unfortunately, I couldn't see any maids around, which made me a bit anxious. As I walked further in the hallway, I noticed an opened door, hoping it was someone I could ask fo

Raven povIn no time I woke up with a loud scream. My eyes wet from tears, and my body filled with perspirations, while I reeled from the odd dream I just had.“Are you okay?”. The same young girl, from before burst into the room. “...yes…”. I whispered, staring at the girl oddly, while wondering how she knew I was distressed in the first place.“I’m… sorry for barging into your room, but I heard your voice, that was why I rushed in thinking you were hurt, I didn't know you had been asleep”. She said, as if reading my mind. Her head was bent facing the floor, as she avoided my gaze. What sort of dream was that? I had never seen such wolf before.“I’m okay, thank you”. I dismissed her, but she stood there. “You can go”. I said.“It’s already time for lunch”. I peered at the small clock on the small table beside me, and realized I had been sleeping for almost three hours. “If you don't mind, I would love to dress you up”. She said, her eyes hopeful, and without thinking much about it,

Raven pov“Oh my…You look so beautiful, my lady”. One of the ladies, dressing me up, gushed behind me, touching my hair, which was brushed and packed behind my nape, with different adornment on my slicked hair. She came forward and touched an area on my cheeks, smiling brightly at me, while another adjusted a headpiece on my head.“Thank you”. I muttered, feeling uncomfortable with the little chaos around me. I wondered what the occasion was for, but I kept the thought to myself.“The dress suits you well, my lady”. Another praise, as soon as I was shoved into a tight fitting long gown, which accentuated my curves. It felt like all my internal organs were rammed together. I couldn't breathe properly. I stood like a piece of art being adorned by nosy onlookers. “Come on, you are needed outside”. An older woman came up to me from behind, but I didn't move.“Is there something that can be done…here”. I pointed to my waistline, where I felt discomfort. “It’s too tight”. I muttered, my ex

Vaughan pov“You look horrible, I wonder what my sister sees in you”. Riev said in disgust, as he walked into my office, and plopped on an empty chair. I didn't know how I looked, but It was definitely an eyesore. I had barely had any sleep last night, and had been holed up in the office. I avoided our room like a plaque. Everything in there reminded me of Raven. I couldn't remember how I had coped sleeping there before she came into my life. Life just seemed to be gloomy without her around. ‘Let's get to the bitch’. Zane growled in my mind, but I sat down feeling reluctant to face Jade. “What about the old…any traces of where they could be?”. He asked, his eyes furrowed in concern. “That old hag must be shitting me!”. He yelled, after I told him what Minka said. He stood up, and ran both hands through his hair. “I don't care what you both discussed, but I will find her myself, you guys are of no use”. He blurted out.“Do you know the village of the witches?”. It had been a though

Riev povMindlessly I didn’t know when I released her arm, then I noticed the way she cradled it, wincing in pain. Staring down at the arm I could notice the bandage there. I took a step closer to her, but held my myself back, the question why she had that injury, burning on my tongue.“I…didn’t mean to follow you, but there is something you have to know”. She muttered, and eventually met my gaze. It was strange seeing her anxious. “My brother…he is planning a war with some other packs who are against RedMoon”. “Why are you telling me this? I don’t look like the Alpha of RedMoon”. I said, nonchalantly, masking my surprise tone. But I was shocked at why she decided to tell me this, when she knew we were enemies. “For your sister. I owe her this, I ruined her life in DarkValley. If anything happens to her. It would also affect you”. She was clearly contradicting herself. She said something but meant another. I chuckled.“And why should I believe you’ve not? You also planned this wit

Riev povMiles away from RedMoon…“Are you sure of where you are going?”. I asked the Omega, who was driving the car. He looked better than the last time I saw him. It was strange that we were always with each other during operations like this. “I know her more than anyone does in the whole pack”. He said, but I scoffed in irritation.“You know her well enough not to know what she was up to all this time”. “I want to believe that she was manipulated into doing this”. He huffed out a deep sigh, I sensed the masked emotions beneath his calm demeanor. “Manipulated my ass”. I refuted. It was a well sought out plan of hers. Her questions about me staying back after the incident with Raven, with her stupid confession of love, out of the blue, were all the clues I missed out. I chuckled smugly as I remembered it. I must have been crazy to think it was genuine. I’m sure she would have laughed herself to death about my reaction. In all honesty I cared for as a friend could, and also wished

Vaughan pov“You shouldn’t feel bad about not doing anything to help”. Riev said to him, hugging him. “We are going to bring her back. It isn’t an option”. He flashed his eyes to me, indicating I agree with him.“Yes, Mason”. I muttered, and touched his small shoulders for the first time. I could now realize why Raven was so attached to him, he was more bright for his age. “I should have known about this even before I left”. Riev said, as we both watched him go. “His wary eyes when Jade had showed up in his room, when he wanted to say something to me. She had been threatening him for a while”. Then I also remembered Raven’s concern about his quiet demeanor. She had also sensed something was wrong with him, and to now know he was being threatened by Jade must have been a scary experience for him, since Raven was always in her company. The signs were there all along, no one knew it, except the little boy that had been caught up in the middle of all this. “That wench should be caught,
