Vaughan’s Pov
My eyes took in the crowded hall, where Dorian’s party took place. I hate everything about the damn party, but it was a sacrifice I had to make for being here. Dorian was a dimwit to believe I was here for his darn celebration, when I had important things to attend to. As I scanned the huge hall feeling anxious all of a sudden, I felt a pair of eyes on me. It was Dorian’s mate. I wondered why she gawked at me so shamelessly, when her mate was right close to her. “There are so many boring females here”. Hank, my Omega whispered beside me, disrupting my thoughts. His eyes peered around for anyone that caught his interest. “For once keep your blazing dick to yourself”. I muttered, as I watched the dancers perform on the stage. A sweet scent hit my nostrils. It was so faint for me not to even have perceived it. I turned around instantly, searching through the crowd in the hall, as I tried to discern where the scent came from. “At last! Someone to make up for this shitty party”. Hank said out of the blue. I moved my gaze in the direction of his attention. My eyes settled on the person that just limped through the entrance. She looked out of place in the hall, with her poor choice of dressing. She definitely wasn’t a maid. ‘MATE!’. Zane growled unexpectedly, surprising the hell out of me. I blinked my eyes, to reassure myself that I wasn't daydreaming. Her dark hair covered her face, and it made me more curious to see how she looked. I then noticed she was carrying something in her arms. “A pretty sight, huh?”. Hank jabbed his elbow at my side, and disrupted my line of sight. I scowled at him. ’MATE’. Zane screamed again, as she got closer to me. My whole body became stiff, as all kinds of emotions ran through my head all at once. She was a few steps away from me, when a glass of what I didn't know splashed on my shirt. From my disordered state, someone rushed to my side, as her strong perfume hit my nose. She began to wipe my shirt. How dare she touch me?! “I’m…I’m so sorry”. She whispered, pressing her whole body against mine, I saw the blush on her cheeks. She was enjoying this. Senseless dumb wit. ‘Get her off you! Mate is here!’ Zane yelled, and I could feel he wanted to take control. I managed to pry her off my body, just then I heard Dorian’s order. “I want her dead!”. Who was he referring to? He was already at my side. “I’m so sorry”. He glanced at my already stained shirt. “She would surely pay for this”. He gritted out, and I saw the raw anger in his eyes directed at the person responsible for spilling the drink in me. But I had something more important to do. I turned around trying to take a full glimpse at my mate, but I saw her running towards he entrance to the hall. Wait…Dorian was referring to her! ‘How dare he try to kill her?!’. At Zane’s words, my feet moved on their own accord, sensing the danger in the air. I need to get to her before Dorian’s men catch up with her. ‘Let me take over’. Zane ordered, as Ieft the Dorian’s packhouse. ‘No! I need to handle this on my own’. I disagreed immediately. Zane wasn’t as logical as I was, and he could complicate things further by acting on impulse. In no time I’ve surpassed the wolves that were after her. Their strength and agility was nothing compared to mine. I traced her scent to a well hidden cave, and it led me outside DarkValley, and into the woods, but I almost missed my steps as my feet collided with something solid. I froze and stopped in my tracks as my eyes took in the stiff naked corpse on the bushy ground. From the dried blood all over his face, I didn’t need a soothsayer to tell me what had happened. The nature of the corpse was the same, as the one found in my pack, a few weeks ago. It was the main reason I was in DarkValley. Dorian’s shitty party was just an excuse to be here. No injury whatsoever on their body, but just the oozing of blood from their eyes, nose, mouth and ears, then there wouldn’t be a heartbeat, after a few minutes. Whatever it was would get in, and manage to leave without a trace. Having enemies was a norm for me, I had countless of them. Those that hate my guts, and those I provoked on purpose, but I knew these recent attacks weren't done by my kind, rather something else. Almost two decades, and I had never experienced anything out of the ordinary before. ‘The fucking creature was here!’. Zane yelled, clearly more agitated than ever. I sniffed around, even though I knew whatever had attacked him was long gone. My eyes continued to inspect the woods. I came here to find the solution only to discover another victim. Did it follow me here? ‘What is going on? Why are you running after her?!’. Hank’s sudden voice in my head interrupted my strain of thoughts. ‘I need your ass here, right now’. I ordered in a rush, ignoring his question, just as I noticed my purpose for this chase in the first place was getting farther away from me. ‘Where are…?’. I didn’t wait for him to complete his sentence, before I explained everything to him, and cut off the link. Shit!. I had lost her!. Where the heck did she run to?. ‘We need to find her. What if that creature is still around?!’. Zane’s last sentence was all I needed as I searched for her, using her scent as a guide. I walked deeper into the woods, not sure if she was around, or had gotten away. I got to a part that looked cleared up a bit. A debilitated house came into my sight, and I made my way to it quietly trying not to make a sound so as not to alert them in case anyone was there. But just then I saw her with another male, as they walked out from the entrance of the house. She held a small duffel bag along with her. I stilled at the sight in front of me. They crossed the threshold of the old house, walking deeper into the woods. I focused on the male whose body weight rested on hers as they slowly trudged forward. An emotion I never thought existed within me, sprung up clouding my head. She was with another male, and he was leaning so fucking close to her. How could she?! Can’t she feel our matebond?! ‘Who the hell is he?!’. Zane’s fury was pulsing through my veins as my eyes continued to follow their slow movement. ‘Take him down! I want to tear him into pieces! Let me out!’. My legs began to move stealthily on its own accord, listening to Zane’s quest to spill blood.RAVEN’S POVMonths later…“It’s a girl”. The nurse said to me, as I heaved out a loud breath, panting like my life depended on it. A loud shrill cry filled the air. A reality check that I wasn't hallucinating. Vaughan, who had been holding my hand, all through the labour, kissed my forehead. A huge smile was plastered on his face, as he craned his neck, to take a peek at our daughter who was just born. “You did amazing”. He whispered, in my ears, as our newly delivered baby was placed on my chest. I bent my head, as my shaky hands touched her for the first time. It felt like it was a dream. She was nothing I imagined, but everything at the same time. “Damn, I wasn’t even spared a detail”. Vaughan gushed beside me, his eyes locked on her, as she snuggled against my bosom. I chuckled faintly, realizing I birthed a child who took all of her father’s features. At a glance one could notice that. “Not even one bit”. I whispered. The only indication that indicated she was mine, wasa few
RAVEN’S POVWalking through the corridor of the dungeon, I was yet reminded of the reason why people were kept here, and one of them being someone I had trusted, hurts me more. I stopped a few feet to where she was locked up. These past few months, I hadn't seen her, but with the new development I knew this would probably be the last time I would see her, before she finally leaves. Nothing had prepared me for the sight in front of me. She was nothing of the lady I knew her to be. She looked so gaunt, her cheekbones more visible than ever. My heart immediately went out for her, at her condition, but letting her know how I feel wasn’t the right thing to do. She met my gaze, but didn’t even blink an eye.“Vaughan has agreed to let you go”. I managed to say, after a while. No reaction whatsoever from her. “I don't ever regret ever being friends with you. You did what you did, and it can’t be helped, but when next you have a friend I hope you would at least be honest about your feelings
RIEV’S POVVaughan's knowing gaze, at my direction, gave me the clarity I needed badly. Without further delay, I dashed after Dorian, feeling the untamed fury to kill him, as it pumped through my veins. After months of deliberate planning, and hoping he would fall into the well laid trap for him, he did it, not much to our surprise. I gave out orders to Vaughan’s men, who had accompanied us to the meeting. In search of him, I scrutinized the surroundings, feeling a bit wary, as I sensed the discomfort of my wolf. He had arrived before we did, which made me clueless of how he got here. No car was speeding away, which only indicated he was still around the vicinity. I couldn’t even perceive his scent around, making me doubt if he had indeed left or dissipated into thin air. I stared at the building which I just exited.Taking the stairs two at a time I ran up the last floor of the building. Something didn’t feel right, within me. With steady strides I took to the rooftop. His scent per
VAUGHAN’S POVTHREE MONTHS LATER…I sat up from the bed, staring at my sleeping mate, who had her back to me. This has been her favourite position ever since her stomach began to get bigger out, but with time everything would be over, and our baby girl would be here. I glanced at the small clock. “Shit!”. I swore, realizing I would be late if I didn't leave the bed, but as I threw a leg to the floor, Raven’s hand suddenly held my arm, she sat up slowly. “I thought you were asleep”. “Not when you keep staring at me, but I actually wanted to see you off today”. She muttered, yawning loudly, stretching her body. She never woke up this early.“I have everything in order”. I kissed her cheeks, which were rounder with the pregnancy. “Do not say a word about them”. She glared at me, as she saw my smile, aware of what I had in mind. “I said nothing, and besides it's the prettiest cheeks now”. I didn’t understand why she hated them. I rubbed her stomach gently. “It seems like she is gettin
RIEV’S POV“Seriously?!”. I scoffed, as I pulled Della into my house. Sane or not, I didn't want her to get on Raven’s bad side. Raven might be receptive to her presence, but it was like a ticking time bomb, one mistake, and she could snap at her, not caring if she was in her right mind, and to crown it all she was with a child.“Do not forget why you are here”. I said, gouging her expression, but a grin pulled up at the corners of her lips. I wasn’t surprised at her change of personality. I had been aware of it, before Raven’s arrival, but the change was swift. I had my doubts about it, but it was obvious she had dual personalities.“How could I forget that, I’m the hopeless one here, but you know what?”. She cocked an eyebrow at me, and began to twist the end of hair. Her gaze is flirty, just like the old Della I was used to in the past. “More than anyone, your sister is the bad bitch here, unless she could have wrapped the best Alpha around her fingers, so you can’t blame me”. Sh
RAVEN’S POVHours later…In Redmoon…“Be careful with her!”. Vaughan yelled out, as Fia hugged me tightly, spinning me around like a little child. It was almost noon before we arrived. My legs felt cramped up, due to the long journey. “Gosh! It was faster than I expected”. She said, when she finally released me, and I narrowed my eyes at her words. “Don’t get me wrong, I’m ecstatic about your arrival, but knowing what kind of person he is I never imagined he would be so easy to deal with”. She muttered, her face brimming with happiness. “Well, it is what it is”. I muttered, and scanned around, noticing Vaughan’s mother, as she hugged Sierra tightly, while bawling her eyes out. After almost two decades, and all the emotional turbulence Altair had put everyone through, it would surely feel surreal to her. Everything felt different, the air was different, from how it was before, and I knew it was because of Jade’s betrayal. I saw Gale and Hank, who was also around Vaughan, telling him
