Being a hybrid was seen as an obscenity against the moon goddess. Raven must contend with the harsh brutalities and discriminations of the world that despised her. After being rejected in the past, due to her identity, she had to endure the adversities in her life, and struggle to cater for herself, and also her older brother who was bedridden. An unexpected entanglement with Vaughan, an enigmatic Alpha with an aggressive wolf, made her already troubled existence more challenging. Having Raven close to him wasn't Alpha Vaughan’s objective, considering he had never desired a mate. But when he discovered she was a hybrid, whose identity was a mystery he had to unravel, as she wielded the power that could save his pack from an unstoppable force, he found himself unable to withhold his ideals. Nevertheless, her identity was just the bedrock of his problem, for he must go against a predestined fate to save their dwindling connection, or lose her forever.

Raven’s Pov “Don’t go”. I ignored my older brother and moved to our small dresser, and began spraying a black hair dye over the part of my hair that was filled with specks of white hair, concealing the hues. “Dorian, that bastard wouldn’t hesitate to kill you if he finds you in his packhouse…”.He never addresses Alpha Dorian by his title, but that was less of my concern at the moment. We need money Alpha Dorian was celebrating the birth of his pup. It’s a good opportunity. “I will be fine, you worry too much”. Sometimes I wish he wasn’t older than me, so I could have the upper hand in my life decisions. “I hate all of this, I hate the fact that we are hybrids. I wish I wasn’t stuck here like this, I just… I fucking hate everything”. He rattled out in frustration, as he gestured towards his injured left leg that was rotting away due to lack of proper treatment. I couldn’t help It as I moved to where he laid on the bed, he always acted tough, but not today, because I saw right through his mask. “I also hate this, more than anything, but it would kill me if you don’t get to walk again. Just this once, we need the money”. I whispered, the my last words.“ “But it’s still early”. He muttered tiredly and I knew he had agreed even though he didn’t say it. “I need to go now, unless the patrol officers will notice me, when it begins to get brighter. I will be back before you know it”. The promise was for myself rather than for him. We were each other’s backbone. I left our isolated home, which was in the middle of the woods, outside DarkValley. I made my way through the path that led to the unknown border line of the pack. Ever since Riev was shot, I frequently visited the pack to look for work, or we would die of starvation. I made it to the packhouse. It took me a while, before a maid was nice enough to show me the way to the kitchen area. The cooking was already in full swing, young girls like me, scurrying from one place to another doing their designated work. “Hey! What are you doing here?”. A middle aged woman screamed at me. Deep frown settled on her face as she glared at me. “I’m…I’m here to work”. I stuttered, my eyes moved to the floor avoiding her eyes. “Work?”. I nodded my head in response. “I don't need anyone else, leave at once“. She said, and began to walk away. “Please…give me any job…anything will do, I will work. Please”. I ran up to her, and fell at her feet immediately. She became quiet for a few seconds, before she ordered I follow her. I was to carry the bags of flour needed for the cooking from the storehouse to the kitchen. Just as I dropped the heavy bag of flour I carried into the kitchen, I first saw some of the girls in the kitchen , giving me a scornful look, then I felt a gaze behind me. I turned around and my eyes landed on the kitchen head, her expression more fiery than a beast. “You wench!”. She bellowed at me, and I instinctively flinched backwards. She sauntered towards me, her eyes were filled with rage. Her left hand shot forward abruptly, startling me and before I could understand what she wanted to do, she backhanded me across my cheeks. I held my tingly cheeks, my vision blurry, as I gazed up at her face. I saw two girls moved to my sides immediately and grabbed my arms. “I tried to help you, but you dared to steal!”. She continued, her eyes blazing with fury. Steal?. I saw the opened bag of flour, which I had brought in, but it wasn’t flour that was in it. It looked like…it was sand!. “That’s…that’s not true…I didn't steal…”. I stammered, shaking my head vigorously. She was definitely mistaken, I’ve gone to bed on an empty stomach countless times, but the thought of stealing had never for once sprung up in my mind. She slapped me hard again, as if aggravated by my words, and I could taste the blood in my mouth. “You have the guts to lie to my face, when the truth is glaring!”. She spat to my face, and slapped me once again, the hit more rougher than the previous ones. Tears sprang instantly from my eyes, my head was reeling from the slaps. “I should have known better than to allow filth work here!”. “Why would I steal when I’m here to work?, please believe…”. Then it happened in a blink, my entire body was covered in sand. “Yeah, I would believe you If this sand turns into flour”. I coughed voraciously, and I even found it more difficult to breathe. It felt like I was being suffocated. “You will surely pay for…”. “What is going on here?!”. I heard another voice as the whiff of the person’s perfume hit my congested nose, through my disoriented state.RAVEN’S POVMonths later…“It’s a girl”. The nurse said to me, as I heaved out a loud breath, panting like my life depended on it. A loud shrill cry filled the air. A reality check that I wasn't hallucinating. Vaughan, who had been holding my hand, all through the labour, kissed my forehead. A huge smile was plastered on his face, as he craned his neck, to take a peek at our daughter who was just born. “You did amazing”. He whispered, in my ears, as our newly delivered baby was placed on my chest. I bent my head, as my shaky hands touched her for the first time. It felt like it was a dream. She was nothing I imagined, but everything at the same time. “Damn, I wasn’t even spared a detail”. Vaughan gushed beside me, his eyes locked on her, as she snuggled against my bosom. I chuckled faintly, realizing I birthed a child who took all of her father’s features. At a glance one could notice that. “Not even one bit”. I whispered. The only indication that indicated she was mine, wasa few
RAVEN’S POVWalking through the corridor of the dungeon, I was yet reminded of the reason why people were kept here, and one of them being someone I had trusted, hurts me more. I stopped a few feet to where she was locked up. These past few months, I hadn't seen her, but with the new development I knew this would probably be the last time I would see her, before she finally leaves. Nothing had prepared me for the sight in front of me. She was nothing of the lady I knew her to be. She looked so gaunt, her cheekbones more visible than ever. My heart immediately went out for her, at her condition, but letting her know how I feel wasn’t the right thing to do. She met my gaze, but didn’t even blink an eye.“Vaughan has agreed to let you go”. I managed to say, after a while. No reaction whatsoever from her. “I don't ever regret ever being friends with you. You did what you did, and it can’t be helped, but when next you have a friend I hope you would at least be honest about your feelings
RIEV’S POVVaughan's knowing gaze, at my direction, gave me the clarity I needed badly. Without further delay, I dashed after Dorian, feeling the untamed fury to kill him, as it pumped through my veins. After months of deliberate planning, and hoping he would fall into the well laid trap for him, he did it, not much to our surprise. I gave out orders to Vaughan’s men, who had accompanied us to the meeting. In search of him, I scrutinized the surroundings, feeling a bit wary, as I sensed the discomfort of my wolf. He had arrived before we did, which made me clueless of how he got here. No car was speeding away, which only indicated he was still around the vicinity. I couldn’t even perceive his scent around, making me doubt if he had indeed left or dissipated into thin air. I stared at the building which I just exited.Taking the stairs two at a time I ran up the last floor of the building. Something didn’t feel right, within me. With steady strides I took to the rooftop. His scent per
VAUGHAN’S POVTHREE MONTHS LATER…I sat up from the bed, staring at my sleeping mate, who had her back to me. This has been her favourite position ever since her stomach began to get bigger out, but with time everything would be over, and our baby girl would be here. I glanced at the small clock. “Shit!”. I swore, realizing I would be late if I didn't leave the bed, but as I threw a leg to the floor, Raven’s hand suddenly held my arm, she sat up slowly. “I thought you were asleep”. “Not when you keep staring at me, but I actually wanted to see you off today”. She muttered, yawning loudly, stretching her body. She never woke up this early.“I have everything in order”. I kissed her cheeks, which were rounder with the pregnancy. “Do not say a word about them”. She glared at me, as she saw my smile, aware of what I had in mind. “I said nothing, and besides it's the prettiest cheeks now”. I didn’t understand why she hated them. I rubbed her stomach gently. “It seems like she is gettin
RIEV’S POV“Seriously?!”. I scoffed, as I pulled Della into my house. Sane or not, I didn't want her to get on Raven’s bad side. Raven might be receptive to her presence, but it was like a ticking time bomb, one mistake, and she could snap at her, not caring if she was in her right mind, and to crown it all she was with a child.“Do not forget why you are here”. I said, gouging her expression, but a grin pulled up at the corners of her lips. I wasn’t surprised at her change of personality. I had been aware of it, before Raven’s arrival, but the change was swift. I had my doubts about it, but it was obvious she had dual personalities.“How could I forget that, I’m the hopeless one here, but you know what?”. She cocked an eyebrow at me, and began to twist the end of hair. Her gaze is flirty, just like the old Della I was used to in the past. “More than anyone, your sister is the bad bitch here, unless she could have wrapped the best Alpha around her fingers, so you can’t blame me”. Sh
RAVEN’S POVHours later…In Redmoon…“Be careful with her!”. Vaughan yelled out, as Fia hugged me tightly, spinning me around like a little child. It was almost noon before we arrived. My legs felt cramped up, due to the long journey. “Gosh! It was faster than I expected”. She said, when she finally released me, and I narrowed my eyes at her words. “Don’t get me wrong, I’m ecstatic about your arrival, but knowing what kind of person he is I never imagined he would be so easy to deal with”. She muttered, her face brimming with happiness. “Well, it is what it is”. I muttered, and scanned around, noticing Vaughan’s mother, as she hugged Sierra tightly, while bawling her eyes out. After almost two decades, and all the emotional turbulence Altair had put everyone through, it would surely feel surreal to her. Everything felt different, the air was different, from how it was before, and I knew it was because of Jade’s betrayal. I saw Gale and Hank, who was also around Vaughan, telling him
