Nina's POV

"The wardens didn't know I hid a mask in my pocket. I wore it and snuck into Maya's room. You know I was once the Beta of Dusk Watch," Mom started, revealing the evidence. "I was searching for a proof, and then the door opened. I hid in the wardrobe while they chatted with themselves. I was with the recorder. I recorded everything."

"How did they not know that someone was in the wardrobe?" I asked, a little confused. Maya would make sure no one was gaining intelligence on her plans. Perhaps it was just her time to fail woefully and get handed over to the right people to judge her.

"I was lucky. That's all I've got to say," Mom said, and then she played the recording.

"I want five groups of shooters. Separate yourself. Just make sure Nina is shot. Don't shoot at her when she's with a friend, or with Jace, especially. I don't want issues with Velmora." She said, "Does anything else need clarification?"

The rest of the words were not audible. Perhaps they reduced their voi

Aiden's POV "If you feel afraid, remember that my pack signed a contract with Velmora. We are one of Velmora's major weapon suppliers. Your father won't go back on his words." Derek reassured. Father truly desired to watch me rule the wolves he once ruled but the pressure to make sure the process was fair enough made him suggest an open competition. I noticed the shortage of weapons in the store, informed Killian about it but he showed negligence. He didn't even talk to Jace about it. He yelled at me, ordering me to monitor the restocking of the weapons that we need. I never knew it was a blessing in disguise. The men in charge of the weapon store made me understand how weapons were being made and imported from the same pack where Derek belonged to. I spoke to him over the phone. He came over to Velmora to strike a deal with me. He wanted to be an official in Velmora. He loved the atmosphere of the pack and how loyal and obedient the wolves were. He revealed that, even though he'

Nina's POV"How do you intend to resolve this issue?" I questioned, curious about his devious tactics. "This is a deal. How I intend to resolve it is my role to play." He answered. "Are you interested?" "Can you ask for something else in return for the favor?" I asked. Several thoughts ran through my mind as I stared at his desperate, sex-starved face. "All I want is your signature on the five-year sex contract. I have a meeting with my team. I have to return to my pack. Let me know if you're ready to save your little boy or not." A smirk danced on his lips as he said, his fingers tapping on the table to challenge the unusual silence that suddenly reigned. I heaved a deep breath as I concluded. "Fine. I'll sign the contract.""I have the printed copies. Place your signature and the Luna's private stamp on this. As soon as you do that, come with me and let's get this started." He said, his tone filled with desire. "This isn't the definition of friendship. You should be able to do

Nina's POV"This is the most naive approach, Jace. Why would you assume that Nina's presence will convince me to change my mind?" His father fired at us. "I couldn't think of anything else," Jace gently admitted. "Please help me, father. This is a set-up. Declare me innocent and let's get this over with." "You are guilty, Jace. Aiden will seize the throne from you in two days if you can't get proof to show you're innocent." His voice was filled with rage and determination as Derek's words came to mind. He'd pledged to get this sorted out. But I would have to sign a three-year or a four-year contract with him. That sounded nasty and wicked. "Alright, dad. Thanks for refusing to help me. I know you've always hated me." Jace said. "We will leave now. But I will not step down from the seat. If Aiden wants to sit on the throne, he can wait till I am done. Perhaps in the next five decades." "See how nasty and rude you sound. Who would like to help you?" His father laughed at his face. I

Nina's POV"It's a tough one. So I'm gonna give you some time to think about it. You know where to find me," Derek shook hands with me, offered a smile, and walked out of my room. I tried to call him back, but he was out of sight. I could have pinned him till Jace would arrive and see for himself. I locked the door and hurried to the restroom to have a quick shower. I needed to be ready. Jace would soon be here. Half an hour later, I came out of the restroom, wearing a light dress with no underwear. I'd expected to hear several knocks on the door but there was no one. The doorbell wasn't even rung. Jace wasn't coming anytime soon, or was I wrong?I picked up my cellphone and dialed his number. He didn't take the calls either. With a frustrated sigh, I smashed the phone to the bed, crashing onto the same bed as well, my eyes staring at the ceilings. And then a gentle knock came on the door, just as a smile crept to my chin. I ran to get the door open and my heart stopped when I reca

Nina's POV"We're screwed, Nina. Where is your brother?" Jace slammed his fists on the table as he yelled. "Get out of here and find Killian. He must know how this happened!"I quickly got up from the seat, fazed by how desperate he was to get a solution to this. "How could my brother set you up? He wouldn't do that, you know?" "My brother, Aiden, and your brother, Killian, are the prime suspects. They both returned to the pack the night we were in the woods. We didn't return until the following morning. How could I have placed my stamp on this?" Jace retorted, his tone filled with anger and frustration. "I think you need to find a way to make Aiden confess that he did it. Killian wouldn't ever involve himself in this." I rolled my eyes up in my head. Perhaps this was why Killian was skeptical to work with him as the Beta of Velmora. "Listen to me, Nina," he rose up to his feet, his eyes filled with horror and panic, "I don't think you get it. If I go low, you go lower. We're in th

Jace's POV"Do you have proof to show that you were absent from Velmora last night?" Aiden queried as he answered the question. "No, you don't have one proof. This is the reason why you won't win this case. I will advise you to do whatever father tells you to do, so things don't get complicated." "What are you talking about, Aiden?" I questioned, my eyes filled with confusion. "You don't sound shocked. You aren't surprised to know this. Are you?""Of course not. I was deeply sad to hear about the news of the passing of more than fifty wolves of this pack because you approved the killings. Go to the meeting and tell them whatever you can, but you can't win the case. I assure you." "Did you strike a deal with father?" I queried. That was all I could think of right now. My head was spinning. This wasn't sounding hilarious any further. My heart was beating fast. I was being falsely accused and my closest buddies weren't acting bothered. "Why would you say that?" Aiden sat up on the cha
