The Mysterious nightwalker

Logan opened his eyes suddenly and sat up, he sniffed the air trying to catch a scent but he could perceive nothing, he was still uneasy as he was certain that he had caught a scent that forced him to wake up.

Just as he was contemplating on that, he heard sounds that came from the hallway and that got him on alert, someone was out there, but who could be out there at this time of the night? It was past midnight and he was certain that everyone had gone to bed before him.

Logan stood up immediately and walked to the door, he stepped out to the hallway but it was cold as the night, he looked to both sides but there was no one there. Were his ears playing games with him? He was sure that he had heard footsteps coming from that hallway.
