Chapter 8: Preparation for the Prom Night

Summer's Point of View

I was severely traumatized by what transpired that night. I arrived at school early because I couldn't sleep since every time I closed my eyes, I saw that awful beast.

The announcement wall was crowded with students. Oh, yes, prom night was quickly approaching.

"Hey," Sam said as I was studying the prom poster details.

"Hey," I said.

"So who are you going to bring?"

"I'm not sure,"

"They're allowing outsiders,"

"It would be so crowded,"

I had the honor of being crowned prom queen the year before. I was quite well-known at school, and a lot of guys tried to approach me, but they were all turned down.

"Hi, Summer. I was just wondering whether you could be my prom date--,"

"No, not interested," I cut Jameson off right away because I sensed it coming.

"Woah, that's actually not cool, you just said earlier you're not sure, who your going to bring,"

"Yeah, Not Jameson though, Sam,"

"He's kind of cute,"

"Hahaha funny, all of the dudes for you is cute,"

"Because they all are, you know, they have different kinds of beauty,"

"I get it, but please raise your standard just a little bit,"

"You're too hard, Summer!"

"I'm sorry, just stating facts,"

"I don't care, I need to go now, see you later, bitch,"

"See yah!"

When we arrived in the locker room, Sam abandoned me. When I closed my locker after putting all of my books in it, I was surprised to see Jameson standing behind it.

"What the hell, Jameson!" "You frightened me."

"Are you sure you don't want me to be your prom date?"

"I'm sure, now if you could please leave me alone," I sarcastically replied as I walked away.

When I walked into my classroom, I noticed a bouquet of flowers on my desk. I received letters from people asking whether I might be their prom date.

"Ugh… This is quite irritating."

I left the classroom and did not return to class because I had a headache. I was only at the school park when time went. I don't have the stamina to wander around, nor do I want to go home.

"Lonely?"

"Wilder?"

"Uh-uh"

"What are you doing here in school grounds?"

"Nothing, just chillin' then I saw you,"

"I just don't want to go to class, everyone was so annoying."

"What did they do?"

"I'm assuming you heard about the prom night already,"

"Yeah,"

"Dudes were inviting me to be their prom date,"

"That's great, right?"

"NO! It is not," "They're not my type,"

"I see what's the problem here,"

I had a brilliant idea: I could ask Wilder to be my prom date! That's all.

"How about this?" You're welcome to be my prom date!"

"What? Me?"

"Yes, you are better than those other guys,"

"I mean, sure, why not,"

"Okay, problem solved,"

I got up because I was happy. Wilder gladly accepted my offer because he was a fantastic match for me. I noticed these girls staring at us as we walked out of the school.

"C'mon ladies, I know I'm handsome," Wilder said as they laughed.

"You're so silly,"

I encircled him with my arms. He was truly unbelievable.

"Thank you," I murmured as we approached my house.

"You're welcome, princess; see you next time," he said as he walked away.

It was late afternoon when ennui struck. I need to do something productive because I missed class today.

'I'd want to go shopping.'

I changed my clothes and got ready to head to the shopping. I wanted to look at several gowns, hoping to find something I could wear to the prom. I'd also look at coats for Wilder, because he appears so elegant and affluent, so I'm sure he'd wear something extravagant.

"Where are you going?" Dad inquired,

"To the mall, I need to buy a dress for prom,"

"Let's go together, your mom and I would go too,"

"What? No! Dad, it's for teenagers."

"I know but we want to see your school too,"

"Whatever, I'm gonna go to the mall alone, buy your clothes some other time,"

I fled before Dad could say anything else. If there are any mean girls from my school at the mall, I don't want them to see me shopping with my parents. It would be humiliating.

I went to every boutique I could find, and they all had lovely clothing and dresses that I could wear to the prom.

In this one store, I was trying on a crimson ball gown. The gown screamed queen of the night, but I wasn't sure if I should get it.

"It looks good on you,"

"Oh, thank you,"

A lovely lady with pale skin and golden hair approached me. To be honest, she looks like a goddess.

"You're really pretty," I murmured, awestruck by her beauty.

"Thanks, I was also looking for a dress,"

"Oh really, this one would be perfect for you," I offered her a black slit dress that would ideally show off her body figure.

"You think so?"

"Yes, of course, you will stand out,"

"That's so nice of you,"

"What party are you going too?"

"Oh, it's actually a prom night,"

"Really? "Wow, what a coincidence,"

"Coincidence?"

"Yeah, I am also looking for a prom dress,"

"Maybe we are just going to one prom aren't we?"

"Let's say it together, 1,2,3,"

"Texas State University Prom Night," we were both surprised to hear. I hadn't seen her previously at school; was she an outsider?

"Wow, that's insane haha," she exclaimed as she laughed.

"Are you a student at TSU?"

"No, I was just invited,"

"Oh, I see,"

"So, I am going to get this one because I need to go now, It was nice meeting you," I was unable to continue our conversation with the stunning woman because I was taking too long at the shopping center. I really wanted to talk to her more.

"Uhm.. May I ask what your name is? "Just in case I run into you at the party," I inquired respectfully, hoping she'd tell me her name.

"My name is Brigid," she said, extending her hand.

"Brigid, what a beautiful name, just like you,"
