Dina's POV
This had to be some kind of joke, right? Why would anybody want to kidnap me? I was--- well, me! I was as interesting as a sack of potatoes! Hell, I still couldn’t fully wrap my head around what the hell Levi saw in me, but---
“You can’t be that surprised,” Michael rolled his eyes at me, unable to believe how incredibly gullible I was. “This isn’t exactly the first time they’ve tried to kidnap you.”
Ok, true!
But that was because of Dylan, right? Levi said that--- Oh, wait! We never actually finished that conversation…
“But-but---,” I stuttered, still trying to wrap my mind around it. “Why?!”
“That’s what we’ve been trying to figure out for months now!” Michael groaned. “Why are you the target?”
“I-I don’t---,” I began but
Dina's POVMy heart dropped and my blood ran cold.“Please tell me you’re talking about Las Vegas and not the actual Sin City,” I questioned, feeling a cold shiver creep down my spine. But the genuine fear on his expression said it all.Well, shit!“What would The Vampire King want with us?" I asked, feeling dread slowly creep up my spine. A wolf never wanted to take on a vampire alone and I definitely didn't want to take on a vampire while my wolf was MIA. Sure, a werewolf was stronger than a vampire, but they still had speed and agility on their side.Qualities that were handy in a fight...Only an alpha could ever face a vampire alone and match its speed, but Levi had been the only wolf I'd ever heard of that could take on several of them alone. But then again, Levi's wolf was Bloodlustled and was probably in a deadly league of his own."You don't suppose he'd into burned p
Dina’s POV“Wake up!”I jumped up, ready to fight for my life as the loud voice boomed off the walls of my bedroom. But my feet got tangled in the sheets and I face-planted the floor. I groaned and rubbed my throbbing nose. Damn! Thank the goddess for werewolf healing. Otherwise, I was sure I would be needing a nose job.“DINA!” the voice called again, annoyance clear in his tone now, and just like that, two strong arms grabbed me and hauled me off the floor. “Stop messing around and get up!”“Wha----?!” I muttered, still half asleep and trying to get a grasp on what was going on around me. Finally, I managed to turn around and mentally let out another groan as I finally recognized who the voice belonged to. It was my older brother – and mock guardian – Dylan. He was running around in the dark, grabbing whatever he could get his hands on and stuffing it into a bag. Now, normal people might become slightly freaked out by the sight of their brother stealing anything and everything with
Dina’s POVApparently, Dylan knew where we were going, because I didn’t recognize anything anymore. Now, we weren’t exactly a traditional pack. Our territory had over time merged with a city nearby, mixing the werewolves and humans to some extent. Wolves could, if they chose to, live in the city and still be part of the pack or live in the suburbs. That’s the fancy word we used for the parallel were-society, that was scattered across the territory. The Pack land was so vast, that several of the werewolf settlements had their own zip code and even different dialects. They were mostly run by Gammas or Deltas, who then answered to the Alpha and Beta. And while the Alpha ruled the pack, all the land was private property, making shifting a whole lot easier without having to risk exposure.About an hour out of the city, deep into the forest and on more private property, was the Packhouse, the alpha’s house, and a few other homes for the top wolves and their families. The packhouse once serv
Dina’s POVOh, my goddess!I thought as I replayed the conversation in my head over and over. I had to have heard that wrong! There was no way my brother was going to agree to make me the alpha’s maid!Right?!But then I mentally groaned because I realized--- This was Dylan we were talking about. Anything was possible…“But what about me?” Dylan whined and, with a mental sigh, I chided myself for even thinking that he might be worried about leaving ME behind. In Dylan’s mind, nothing was more important than Dylan.“I told you, I---”But then he was cut off by a terrifying, low growl. And while I wasn’t the one facing off against the alpha, the menace in that growl was enough to make my skin want to crawl off and hide. The alpha said something after that, too low for even me to hear, but I guessed Dylan agreed. Because the next thing I knew the kitchen door opened, and the two men came over to me. In fact, the alpha didn’t stop, until he was standing a mere foot away from me. My heart
Dina’s POVI woke up the next morning with a strange sense of being someplace new. And if you know what I’m talking about, then imagine being a wolf and waking up to that feeling. Everything was… Wrong! The smells, the sounds, the air… Even my body seemed to rebel at the idea of a soft bed and instead, I suffered from phantom aches of the usual springs poking me all night.I scrunched my nose, trying to adjust to the smells. It was like waking up with a hangover you couldn’t remember getting. My body was sore and my mind was blank, with a dull throb somewhere in the back. Don’t get me wrong, though. I slept fantastically!I just wasn’t used to it…I got up and realized that nature called. One look around could confirm that the guest bedroom didn’t have an adjoining bathroom, so with a sigh, I tiptoed out into the hallway trying to find it. I already knew which room was the alpha’s - which I took great care in avoiding - but didn’t show the same concern for the next door. And that’s wh
Dina’s POVI unpacked some of my stuff and caught up on some of my homework. Or at least that’s how I intended on spending my day when I realized that I had to get to campus, or else I wouldn’t be able to finish my project. Since I was broke, I was dependent on the supplies they provided for us on campus.I got downstairs and although it felt weird as shit, I picked up one of the car keys hanging in the kitchen. I even stood swaying back and forth, debating whether or not I should go upstairs to tell Alpha Stone that I was leaving, but decided against it.As I walked by the plastered wall, I made a mental note to bring home some charcoal pencils. I already had a general idea of what I wanted to do with the patches and grinned. Well, if Alpha Stone didn’t like it, then maybe it would motivate him to buy some paint…Luckily, I didn’t need a GPS, because I had a good sense of direction, even if this was my first time driving to campus. I guess that’s a natural thing with all werewolves,
Dina’s POV“Wh-what are you doing here?!” Michael stuttered, gawking at me as if he’d just seen a ghost.“I, erm, work---here,” I shrugged, not knowing how else to explain the situation. Especially the way the alpha kept shooting glances between me and Michael. Did I say something wrong?“I see you know my Beta,” he gruffly commented. I simply nodded, not understanding why he would be angry about that. Wasn’t anyone supposed to know that I lived here? That's when it finally hit me and I paled. Shit! Of course, no one was supposed to know. The alpha was unmated! And I was unmated. And his maid! Holy crape, that was going to spin so many juicy rumors, I was already turning red just thinking about it.Fuck, I was such an airhead sometimes!
Dina’s POV“See ya!”Michael’s voice suddenly entered downstairs, before the door slammed again. A second later, Alpha Stone showed up in the kitchen. I must honestly admit, I was a bit nervous. I mean, I’d known the alpha for less than a day, and I was already screwing up--- everything!Perhaps it was best that I just moved out…“Did I---?” I asked, swallowing the lump in my throat, as he sat down again. “Did I do something wrong?”“No,” he said casually and picked his utensils back up. “I informed him about your brother.”“Oh,” I said, not really knowing what to feel about that. I was relieved that there wouldn’t be some weird rumors about me and the alpha--- right away, anyway... But I was sure they were going to come in the future. I also felt immensely ashamed that I was put in this situation because

Dina’s POVIf I ever see a vampire again – In. My. LIFE! – It will be too soon!My vision was blurry from whatever they drugged me with, and my legs felt like jelly. Scratch that! My entire body felt like gelatin! My brain was woozy and even my wolf was acting like she was high on something. Nothing coherent came from her and I decided to block her out before she gave me a headache.I looked up and noticed I was in some sort of cell. It was dark; the only light coming from a small window on a door on the other side of the wall. I tried to get up, but my body was still sluggish and weak.Which was strange!I could feel my wolf, so why was my strength---? I tried to get up again, but with the same result. I then tried to mind-link Levi, but nothing! The only thing I managed to get was a howl from my wolf, who was acting like someone had lit her tail on fire. She was in pain one moment and
Levi's POVI blinked.“Tattoo?” I echoed in disbelief. Even my wolf was curious now. I’d seen her body naked and bare, and I’d never seen a single spot on her that indicated she had any kind of marking.“She has a tattoo on her back,” Rita continued, unphased by my skepticism. In fact, she was smirking, happy that she knew something that I didn’t: “One that can only be seen in moonlight--- some witchy shit! Scared the hell out of me the first time I saw it.” She shrugged. “She said it was a gift from her mother when she turned 12 and shifted for the first time.”12?!Normal wolves didn’t change until 14! Unless something traumatic happened and forced the wolf; like in my case.“Did something happen when she was 12?” I frowned, not really knowing what to do with this information. It said in her file that she shifted at 14.Was
Levi’s POVI’d been trying to get along with Rita, but all that effort seemed to have resulted in more reasons why I didn't like her. Sure, I knew, I didn’t have the gentlest temper around, but seriously! My anger was in the red zone the second she opened her mouth. She just had an attitude I couldn’t stand. And my wolf straight out hated her!He blamed her that we had to keep away from our mate for so long. If Dina’s scent wasn’t mixed in with hers, we wouldn’t have thought that Mick was seeing Dina. And YES!That was ridiculous, I knew that. But I couldn’t seem to move to pass it!We walked in an awkward silence back to the packhouse. Neither one of us could get there fast enough and, hopefully, Mick would join us soon. So far, he’d been acting as the middleman between us. Otherwise, I think I would have rejected her as my Beta Female already.I
Dina’s POVIt was so painfully obvious that Dylan was the culprit, that I almost felt embarrassed for myself. Who else had been an expert at sneaking in and out of the pack, without anyone noticing? He knew the routine, the shifts, the training… Everything! He knew this pack borders like the back of his hand. And if there was some sort of secret passageway to get in and out of the pack, I know he knew about it! I’d heard him brag about it more times than I cared to remember. And he was the one who helped the vampires and the rogues to get in and out.I couldn’t believe that my brother would sell out his pack like that. The “why” didn’t really matter to me. If there was money in it, it wasn’t below Dylan to sell out his own mother to get rich fast.Thank the goddess that they weren’t around to see what their son had become…My wolf was pissed! Our
Dina's POVI dozed off again but woke up when a pleasant voice sounded in the room.“Alpha?” I recognized Michael’s voice. “I heard she was awake.”I tried to open my eyes again and this time, I successfully managed to make out the light in the room and the tall, dark-haired man in the doorway. Things were still blurry, but I noticed that the more came into focus the stronger my wolf felt. Well, the wolf and human really were one…“She is, but she’s resting,” Levi mumbled, clearly pissed off by being disturbed. His voice was gruff and husky. Apparently, he’d been asleep too. “What do you want?”“I came here to see my best friend so bug off,” another sharp voice said, shuffling the beta out of the way and getting in. I grinned at the welcoming sound of my favorite pain in the ass. Once she got close enough, I could even see her face clearly as a war
Dina’s POVWaking up, it felt like someone had run me over with a semi-truck. Everything was hurting, my muscles were sore, and my throat felt like someone had tried to cleanse it with a steel brush.“She’s breathing on her own now,” I heard a woman say somewhere next to me. “It’s a good sign, Alpha.”Alpha? Levi was here?“Le---” I tried to call out to him, but my voice was hoarse and gruff. As if I’d spent all night screaming. And not in a good way! I had a metallic taste in my mouth and, for some reason, it felt like I had a ton of bricks on top of me, making it extremely difficult to breathe.I tried to open my eyes but was met with complete darkness.“Dina!” A dark, velvet voice sounded on my other side. It was a voice I recognized, no matter where I was.“Levi,” I sighed, feeling tears push against my ey
Levi's POVI roared, making it clear that she was currently insignificant to me.“They-they don’t want her dead,” she screamed, and finally her red swollen eyes met mine. “It-it was for you!”Shocked, I felt my anger dim.The poison was for me?!Why?Had I been the target all along?Had I been looking at this the wrong way the entire time?“They wanted to kill you," Angela continued to cry, as something that looked like regret and pain flashed across them. I just wasn't sure who those feelings were for. "They need her alive.”So, my mate was the target.But---?“WHY?”The question left my lips before I’d even managed to think. It didn't make any sense. Why would they target my mate? What was so special about her? Other than her being the most amazing person I'd ever had the great hono
