CHAPTER FIFTY FOUR

NASH

I wake with a pounding headache. My stomach is roiling, and I feel like I might explode. I roll over to find myself on my bed in the pack house, dusky twilight spilling through the curtains.

I am alone.

“Sarah?” I call out, but no one responds. I shake my head, trying to clear it. The last thing I remember is her old pack attacking us, just like her friend Arnold warned us they would.

As the Alpha, it’s my responsibility to check on my pack in the aftermath. Despite how sick I feel, I haul myself out of bed, grabbing my robe and wrapping it around myself as I pad downstairs.

Everyone is in the living room, in various states of sleepiness and injury. Juliana and Amanda are tending to the most injured, wrapping bandages around bloodied arms and passing out ice packs from the basement freezer.

“Where’s Sarah?” I ask, looking around for my Luna. “Is she okay?”

“She’s not here,” Juliana says, her tone apologetic and gentle. “We don’t know where she is.”

“I do,”
