Nyxia's POV:

I pushed myself to run faster, the ache in my limbs fading as adrenaline took over. The town was mostly deserted, and I thanked whatever gods were watching that I didn’t have to worry about being seen. I darted through alleys and side streets, avoiding the main roads like second nature.

The familiar streets of town came into view, bathed in the soft, warm glow of streetlights. Slowing down, I caught my breath, mind racing. There was only one place I could go. The thought of it made my chest tighten with a mix of relief and dread.

Ethan.

He was only a few blocks away. His small apartment was safe, and more importantly, he was there—Ethan, with his easy smile and those warm eyes that always made me feel like I wasn’t drowning. He’d hold me, tell me everything would be okay. That I was safe with him.

But was he safe with me?

The thought dug into me. If Desmond found out, Ethan would be in more danger than I could bear. I couldn’t drag him into this nightmare, into the twisted reality that had become my life.

I stood at the entrance of his building, my hand hovering above the door handle. What was I doing? Ethan didn’t know the full extent of what was happening—about the marriage, about Dominico, or the darkness that Desmond wielded over me like a noose.

He knew my family was abusive, but he didn’t know the full truth. I had told him what I could, but how could I explain to him the danger I was in now? That my uncle was planning to marry me off to one of the most dangerous werewolves in the region? How could I bring Ethan into a world he couldn’t possibly understand?

My heart pounded as I stood there, staring at the door, unable to move. What would Ethan think of me if he knew the truth? Would he still love me? Would he see me the same? The strong, independent woman I tried so hard to be?

After what felt like an eternity, I stepped back, my heart sinking. I couldn’t drag him into this. Not now. Not yet.

With a heavy heart, I turned away from his door. I couldn’t go to him. Not like this.

By the time I reached the address Nikolai had given me, the sky was growing lighter, a dull orange creeping over the horizon. The house was a modest two-story home, sitting quietly at the edge of town. The wind rustled the trees nearby, and I paused, nerves tingling as I scanned the area.

Was this really where I was supposed to go?

I shifted back into human form, every inch of me sore and exhausted. After taking a moment to catch my breath, I finally rang the doorbell. The anticipation made my heart pound.

The door creaked open, and I was greeted by someone familiar.

Her strawberry blonde hair fell below her shoulders, her green eyes wide with shock as they landed on me. She wore a floral dress, her posture stiff with surprise.

“Verena?” I blinked.

She looked around quickly, then grabbed me by the arm, pulling me inside. “Nobody followed you?” she asked, her voice low, urgent.

I shook my head, still processing the situation. What was going on?

Verena Lorenzo, one of my colleagues at Evangeline Interiors, was the last person I’d expected to see. She was older than me by almost a decade, but she had always been kind—almost like a mother figure to me. But now...

Did she know I was coming?

Verena closed the door and pulled me into a tight hug. “Oh, sweetie, you look wrecked,” she said in her soft Australian accent. Her warm embrace surprised me, but I found comfort in it.

After she led me into the living room, I couldn’t hold back my question. “What’s going on, Verena? Did you know I was coming? And what about Niko?”

Verena’s face softened with concern, her brow furrowed. “Yes, your brother told me Desmond was up to something, but he didn’t give me details. He just said you needed a place to stay for a while. And of course, I couldn’t let you stay out there alone.”

The tension in my chest loosened slightly, but suspicion lingered. How much did Nikolai tell her?

“What do you mean by that?” I asked, narrowing my eyes as I studied her expression.

Verena hesitated, then sighed, the weight of something unspoken in her gaze. “Nyxia...” She smiled sheepishly, her eyes flickering with a strange glint.

Suddenly, I felt something shift in the air. A strange warmth spread through me, calming every nerve, making me relax in ways I hadn’t in years. My eyelids grew heavy, and before I realized it, a quiet purr slipped from my throat.

I froze, startled by the sound. Wolves don’t purr.

I sniffed the air, my senses sharpening. My heart pounded as I caught the scent—pheromones. Strong, comforting pheromones meant to calm wolves in distress.

I whipped my head toward Verena, eyes wide with shock. “You’re a wolf?”

Verena chuckled softly, nodding. “Took you long enough.”

My mind spun, trying to process this revelation. How had I not known? More importantly, did Desmond know?

“Does Desmond know?” I whispered, anxiety spiking.

Verena’s face darkened, her expression serious. “No, and I’d appreciate it if you kept it that way.”

I nodded, feeling the weight of her trust. “I won’t tell anyone. But... why didn’t you tell me before?”

Verena sighed, leaning back in her chair. “Because being an Omega isn’t something you advertise. Not in our world.”

The words hit me like a punch to the gut. Verena was an Omega? The rarest and most coveted type of wolf. The only ones capable of carrying an Alpha’s child to term safely.

Dominico's POV:I slammed my fists onto Alaric’s desk, my knuckles throbbing with the force of the blow. "What the hell was that about, Alaric?" I growled, my voice dripping with venom. "You told me she consented. Last night, she looked like she was being marched to her own funeral! Not a damn word or look from her suggested she wanted this marriage!"Alaric didn’t flinch, leaning back in his chair, his eyes narrowing with irritation. "That’s what Desmond and his pack showed us," he replied, his tone cold and calculated. "The Hunter family talked her up like a princess—spoiled and adored. We’ve been discussing this for nearly a year, Dom. We needed this alliance. They’re one of the oldest bloodlines. Letting Silverwood swoop in and take her would’ve weakened us."I clenched my jaw, the fury simmering just below the surface. "Of course, you and your fucking politics."Alaric’s patience frayed, and he sat up, his sharp gaze locking onto mine. "Yes, politics. You know exactly how importa

A bitter laugh escaped me, sharp and humorless. “I’m not your slave, Dominico,” I spat, my voice trembling with anger. “I’m your wife. And if you expect me to respect you, then you better as hell start respecting me. Or you can go fuck yourself.”His eyes darkened, the cold, emotionless mask slipping for a brief moment as anger flashed across his face. He shut the door behind him, his slow steps bringing him closer, his towering frame casting a long shadow over me. “Lower your voice, Omega,” he growled, his voice barely a whisper, but the threat in it was unmistakable.“Or what?” I shot back, my back straightening, glaring at him. I wasn’t backing down. Not this time. The heat in my core flared again, making my skin feel like it was burning. But I ignored it, fueled by anger and frustration. “This whole thing is a fucking joke,” I muttered, more to myself than to him. “You, me, all of this.”He remained silent, his gaze locked on me, but the tension in the air was suffocating.“Get ou

Nyxia's POV:It felt like an eternity, but it was probably only a couple of seconds before another wolf burst from the forest—his fur as dark as the night, streaked with gold. He barreled into the wolf on my back, tearing him away from me with such ferocity that I could barely comprehend it. The two wolves clashed in a whirlwind of teeth and claws, their battle filling the air with snarls and growls that made the ground beneath me tremble.I tried to move, tried to push myself up, but my body refused to obey. The pain radiated from every nerve, draining my strength. My vision blurred, the world spinning, and I felt myself slipping away, inch by inch, into unconsciousness. The last thing I saw before darkness claimed me was the dark wolf standing over me, his glowing golden eyes locked onto mine. Something about that gaze sent a shiver down my spine, and then I felt strong arms wrap around me, lifting me off the ground. My vision swam as I looked up into Dominico’s face. His expression

Nyxia’s POV:The heat in my core flared again, but this time it was mixed with something else—rage. Pure, unfiltered rage. I clenched my fists, feeling my nails dig into my palms as my mind raced."Get the hell away from me!" I hissed, my voice trembling with fury. But they didn’t listen. The first wolf lunged at me, his claws slashing through the air, tearing at my wedding dress. The fabric ripped away from my thigh, a sharp sting of pain following as his claws raked across my skin, leaving behind a searing burn. Blood welled up from the wound, soaking through the remains of the dress. I stumbled back, struggling to stay on my feet. Before I could react, the second wolf was on me, teeth bared as he ripped the dress from my back, leaving me exposed to the cold night air."Careful. Don’t cut her too deep—we need her alive," growled the third and largest wolf, his voice sending shivers down my spine. My palms were sweaty and my vision blurred with pain and fury, but I forced myself to f

Nyxia’s POV:"Getting undressed... for the hunt?" Dominico rolled his eyes, his voice dripping with sarcasm.A blush crept up my cheeks. "Oh... right," I muttered, feeling like an idiot. Of course that’s what he was doing. What was I imagining?I watched as he removed his coat, then his vest, before reaching for the buttons of his silk shirt. “Take a picture, it’ll last longer,” he quipped.I snapped out of my trance, realizing I had been staring at him like an idiot, watching him undress. “You wish,” I shot back, rolling my eyes as I looked away, my pulse racing from the embarrassment. I walked over to the small table set up backstage, pouring myself a glass of water, and took a seat on the sofa, desperate to get my mind under control. He scoffed, moving toward me to grab a glass of water for himself. My eyes betrayed me, trailing over his well defined chest and torso. His thick veiny arms were wrapped in intricate tattoos—snakes, roses with thorns, and symbols I couldn’t recognize.

Nyxia’s POV:When the ceremony ended, the hall erupted in howls, their wild calls echoing through the mansion. But there was no joy in the sound—no real celebration. It was all a display, a show of dominance and power. The pack’s unity at its most twisted.Dominico turned to me, his expression unreadable as he extended his arm. I stared at it, hesitating, my skin crawling at the thought of touching him. But I had no choice. I placed my hand on his arm, the heat of his body searing through the thin fabric of his suit, making my pulse race.My mind drifted back to the kiss. My chest tightened, heart pounding as the memory of his lips against mine resurfaced. It was scorching hot, leaving me breathless as if I was about to melt. His scent—sandalwood, forest, and something dangerous I couldn’t place—had been intoxicating. Too intoxicating.I hated that it had affected me so much. I wasn’t a stranger to intimacy—Ethan had been my first, but nothing I had experienced before even came close
