Chapter 4

This is unusual and mostly uncalled for, that is in her own point of view and opinion. You can as well ask others for theirs or contribute yours too but guess what? It doesn't matter, whatever your thinking is doesn't matter!

Especially that of her decision, it does not matter as hers would mostly be classified as a trashed type of decision and her opinion too.

Petal sat down and let the maids do whatever they think befits her and is necessary on her face and hair after they made her wear the most expensive robe in the States.

No one else got it for her other than her father since he's rich enough to afford twenty times of 24 karat gold, purchasing such an expensive robe would cost him nothing. Yeah, nothing.

She was supposed to dress formally but her father insisted she dress like the royals. Who is she to dare go against his decisions in any way? He owns her, it's his to decide on her.

After what seems like forever, the maids announced to her that they were done. All she was able to do in return was let out a sad smile as she nodded her head gently, the dry look on her face was clearly visible.

"You look really great, my lady." One of the maids complimented her look and truth be told, she looked gorgeous and breathtaking that any man wouldn't hesitate to glance at her twice.

She felt like crying her eyes out but she can't, she can only watch herself as she dwells in self pity, her heart aching.

Today, her father had organised a huge and luxurious birthday party for her. Other kids would have been super excited for this but it is definitely not her.

To cut a long statement short, she never wished to witness today, coupled with the fact that she was happy in the morning. If only she knows her newly found happiness would be cut short.

The sad smile on her face spread wider, telling on her current mood and feeling. She realised she was just a fool to have believed her father's words earlier that day when he had talked to her and told her he had changed.

She thought he's organising the party as a means to express how sorry he is but she was proved wrong because her father has another plan of his own up his sleeves. Is that not what he told her the party was for and she did believe him. Blindly, yeah, blindly.

She could not cry, no she has been acting all weak and pathetic for as long as her existence, with no iota of courage inside her.

She was forced to realise how worthless she is and on a bitter truth sees why her father treated her like a slave. That is the kind of feature she possesses.

Just an hour or two before now, she had overheard her father discussing it with some men. She didn't get the chance to see their faces on how she would be sold out to any one who is interested in buying her.

"I think I've tolerated her enough, her presence alone makes me want to puke on myself." She heard her father's voice which made her stop on her track. She needs no one to her he is referring to her.

“Then why would you throw such a huge party for this since it's an auction?” She heard one of them reply to her father's statement with a question.

“I have to make it look that way. Her buyers would be convinced of how costly she is and pay lots for her –” Her Father replied nonchalantly with a dark chuckle afterwards. “– You have to think from a business perspective too, my dear...”

Her heart seized the moment she heard those words, she knew her father despised her a lot but the fact that he is throwing a huge party to sell her off is really uncalled for.

Did he not say he is throwing the party for her nineteenth birthday as a token of his apology? How did he turn to a party to auction her for sale, eh?

“We can call it a farewell party, yeah, it is...” Her ears burned really hot against her head, refusing to listen to the rest of their conversation as she raced back to her room. Her eyes were already itching from the cry, the tears kept falling down her cheeks without control.

She need not be told cause it's clearly visible and plain before her eyes. Her life would never get any better, it would only keep growing from bad to worse. Yeah.

Anyone could have found a way to escape this cruel fate but she decided not to, she still wanted to attend the feast because she thought she owed her father one.

At least for making her survive this long. Even if his hatred for her was deep, he still keep her alive as his slave. Did he not?

           ***

The feast is yet to begin but people are already trooping inside the huge hall that's to be used in twos and threes while some came in groups.

With each ticking seconds, her heart raced and thumped faster in her chest, making it difficult for her to breathe properly. She dreaded what the future holds for her.

Since there is still some more time before the feast starts, Petal thought it would be the best idea if she took a few walks around the huge castle.

‘Who knows if I would ever get the chance to come here again, what chance does a slave have to come back to her home?’ She thought within herself as she let out a sad chuckle. ‘Let me feast my eyes with the castle's beautiful view and surroundings for the last time while I still get the chance to…’

After spending more than half an hour touring the castle's touring, Petal decided to go back to the hall. She knows she might be needed soon enough.

By the time she gets there, more dignitaries in other werewolf packs were present already, she was able to tell by their expensive look and clothes.

She craned her neck as she looked around for the sign of her father but he was nowhere in sight. She sigh deeply as she decided to take a seat amongst the audience.
