The minutes stretch on, and I stand there with my heart in my throat, waiting impatiently. As I wait, I can hear faint noises coming from the woods - the sound of feet pounding against the ground, as well as loud grunts and yells as Adrian and Jacob compete in their race.

There is no way Jacob can win this, I think to myself.

I need to help him. Sure, it will be cheating, but I really like Jacob, and I am tired of my brother's smug attitude, so I want to teach him a lesson!

There is one other power I inherited from my parents besides my special blood. And that is, magic powers. I haven't mastered it quite yet, so I am not as good as my father, but I can still do some tricks. My father had warned me about it and told me not to use magic too much since I am not very good at it yet. But I am willing to try it for Jacob today!
