[KAEL]

I left Melissa standing in that clearing.

Didn't look back. Didn't acknowledge the desperate way she called my name. Saen prowled just beneath my skin, silver still bleeding through my vision, every instinct screaming to rip her apart for destroying that moment with Rhiannon.

The command I'd used—the raw Alpha dominance that had torn from my throat—still echoed in my bones. I'd never lost control like that. Never let my wolf take over so completely.

Rhiannon's face haunted me. The way she'd frozen. The confusion and hurt flickering through her hazel eyes before she'd walked away anyway.

'Should have chased her,' Saen snarled. 'Should have made her understand.'

"She needed space." My voice came out harsh. "We terrified her."

'We protected what's ours.'

I stormed into the packhouse, ignoring the wolves who scattered out of my path. The fury rolling off me made even seasoned warriors press themselves against walls.

My office door slammed shut behind me. Papers scattered from the d

[RHIANNON]Music resumed. Laughter returned. The feast officially began as pack members moved toward tables laden with food, as children resumed their chaotic games, and as the carefully maintained peace of Crescent Moon territory expanded to include celebration.Kael guided me toward the head table where Emrys, Isolde, and several elders waited. My legs felt unsteady. My heart still was racing from his speech—from the way he'd looked at me in front of everyone, like he was declaring something he'd been holding back too long."You okay?" he asked quietly as we walked."I don't know."Honest. Raw. Terrifying. He nodded like he understood. "Neither am I."That simple admission—that he felt this uncertainty too—somehow made everything easier. We reached the table. Isolde smiled warmly, gesturing to the seats saved beside her. Emrys raised his cup in silent salute, dark eyes knowing. The elders watched with expressions ranging from approval to curiosity.I sat carefully, hyperaware of eve

[RHIANNON]The gong sounded as we stepped over the threshold—a deep, resonant tone that echoed through the manor and signaled the feast's beginning. My pulse jumped. Around us, doors opened and pack members emerged in their finest, voices rising in excitement as everyone moved toward the courtyard where music had started in earnest—drums and stringed instruments weaving together into something joyful and ancient. Laughter echoed off stone walls. Someone sang a traditional blessing song, voice rising clear and bright.Arie linked her arm through mine, steadying me as we joined the flow. The corridor felt longer than usual, every step weighted with anticipation I couldn't quite name.My heart hammered against my ribs. Nyx pressed close beneath my skin, her presence both comfort and warning.'He's waiting,' she whispered. 'At the end of the hall.'I knew before I looked. The corridor opened toward the courtyard entrance, torchlight spilling golden across the threshold. And standing there

[RHIANNON]The courtyard glowed like something out of a dream I didn't know I was allowed to have.Golden ribbons twisted through posts and railings, catching the late afternoon sun until everything shimmered copper and honey. Long tables stretched across the clearing, already heavy with platters of roasted venison, spice bread still steaming from the ovens, and autumn vegetables glazed in butter and herbs.Music drifted from somewhere near the training grounds—fiddle and drum, warm and inviting.Children darted between benches, shrieking with laughter, chasing each other with streamers that trailed behind them like colorful tails. One nearly collided with my hip before veering away, giggling. I caught myself smiling. Actually smiling without forcing it.'You're healing,' Nyx whispered from somewhere deep inside my chest. 'You feel it too.'I did. The ache in my ribs—the one that had lived there since Laziel's rejection—felt lighter today. Not gone. Never gone. Scars didn't vanish jus

[ARIE]Harvest Feast Day always started too loud, too busy, and too alive.I woke to laughter echoing through the packhouse halls, crates dragging across stone, and the sharp sweetness of baking bread drifting from kitchens below. The pack hummed like a living thing preparing to celebrate.I loved it. Every chaotic, overwhelming minute of it.My feet hit the floor already in motion. Within the first hour, I'd tied ribbons to lantern posts outside, handed herb bundles to decorators, and relayed messages between Cora and the musicians setting up near the firepit. This was where I belonged—in the middle of everything, useful, included. Part of the pack's heartbeat instead of just listening to it from the edges. The old oak in the courtyard needed one more strand of amber leaves. I climbed the lower branches easily, tying the decoration with practiced fingers.Memory caught me without warning. My father lifting me onto his shoulders during the last Harvest Feast he'd attended. "Higher, Pa

[KAEL]I couldn't unsee it.The way Rhiannon's had healed that pup. Just inevitable. Like healing had decided to happen through her whether she understood it or not.I stood outside the infirmary longer than necessary, listening to normal pack sounds resume after the pups dispersed. Laughter. Training calls. Life continued.Everything felt different now.The feeling tightening my chest wasn't awe. Wasn't fear alone. It was responsibility—the kind that settled deep and refused to leave.I'd planned battles. Led warriors through impossible odds. Strategized against threats I could see and measure.Miracles were different. Couldn't be commanded. Couldn't be controlled. The infirmary door opened. Mira emerged, grey hair pulled back, expression knowing."You have questions," she observed."What is she?" Direct. No preamble. "Not if she healed. How."Mira studied me with eyes that had witnessed decades of pack life. "Come inside."The infirmary smelled like herbs and old stone. Symbols carv

[RHIANNON]The sun sat high when I joined Arie near the pups' training circle.Dust hung in warm air, mixing with laughter and the earthy scent of young wolves learning their bodies. I rolled up my sleeves without thinking, ready to help however needed. This had become routine. Natural. Belonging without fighting for it."You're early." Arie grinned, handing me a water container. "Eager to be tackled by enthusiastic pups, I see?""Someone has to keep them from destroying each other.""That's what I keep telling people, but no one believes omegas make the best referees." She nudged my shoulder affectionately. "Too soft, they say.""Soft isn't weak.""Preach." She moved toward a cluster of pups arguing over who got to demonstrate the next drill.I settled near the practice dummies, steadying wobbling pups and offering gentle corrections. Not commands. Just encouragement delivered with patience Bloodstone had never taught me.Nyx stirred faintly in my chest. Watchful. Calm. Almost smug.
