I didn’t know whether Alex intended to do the sneaky vixen real harm, and I didn’t believe it would be of any consequent issue really. Considering she had betrayed her alpha, and treason was usually punishable by death…

Jessica was still struggling to get his hand off her neck when the door to his office opened. The elders made a dramatic entrance and the one who spoke up first was haughty – more than I would like if I were to be honest, “Alpha Alexander, have you lost your mind?”

“I have my reasons,” Alex said simply without even glancing their way.

“Let’s hear them,” another one supplied, the glint in his eyes making me stiffen at once.

They knew more than they let on, that much was obvious, and they had it against me and Alex.

“Jessica betrayed the pack,” I told them in a calm tone despite the feelings warring within me.

“And how, pray tell, did she do that?” The elder went on, his question hanging in the air for a moment.

    Jade’s pov: I was wearing dangerously high heels, a risque silver dress, a jacket covering my bare back, and a hairpin on my wavy hair. There were rose petals leading up to the gazebo where we settled, and soon he was bringing over meals. The smell that reached me had my mouth watering, and it was everything I could do not to drool. Many pack officials came, to pay their respect to the former Luna of the Moonlight pack, but also to see how well the hybrid, that I was, behaved. Only I was so much more than just a hybrid. I wasn’t just a werewolf who could also use witchcraft. I was a mate, a Luna, a mom. There wasn’t much they could do or say to upset me anymore. I had come to accept who I was. Heavens, the prophecy itself, which admittedly had brought in a lot of pain and stress to my loved ones, wasn’t exactly something I feared. I had Paulina reach out to her family and ask about it. All in all, the prophecy described this hybrid – me – as someone with unparalleled power, great control, and no willingness to compromise when it came to her loved ones. I was all that and more.
