Jade’s pov:Paulina and I were training under Trevor’s watchful gaze when it happened. We felt a surge of energy fast approaching. We needed no damned warning bells to stop everything, and start gathering the pups that had been playing nearby.“Luna Jade,” Trevor let out calmly, “Everything’s going to be okay.”I merely nodded at him, even as fear gripped my heart in a tight hold. This was basically happening because of me, and I had not made peace with the fact that I was a bringer of doom, simply because I existed.“Paulina,” I let out urgently. “Mom and Tyler will be under your protection.”“But I was supposed to be right there with you, mistress,” she argued at once, not quite understanding the change of plans that was so last minute.“The best way to get to us would be through our little ones,” I insisted, before grabbing her wrist, making her stop, “I trust you, Paulina. I trust you with my life, with my son, with my mother… and with my pack.”“Yes, mistress,” she nodded gravely
Alex’s pov: In true Luna way, Jade had outdone herself in her training. We could feel it in the way she moved gracefully and almost feline-like. From as far as I remember, she was always a proud warrior – back when Eli bullied her on her first day of school, back when Jessica tried to attack her out of jealousy too. She never allowed her circumstances to define her. And now more than ever, it seemed like she was slightly obsessing over the kind of help she could provide. The Alpha King was coming in roughly a couple of days if Anna’s prediction was right – and they usually were. I didn’t know what that meant for the pack, but I knew that they were ready to fight alongside us. After taking out all the bad weeds, and having a sincere talk with the pack, where we asked them to lend us their strength… I was almost surprised to see that the omegas were the first ones to react positively – so beautifully too. “We will stop at nothing to make sure the pack remains safe,” one of them le
Jade’s pov: Only 1 week remained till the fateful date. Indeed, it had been 2 weeks since Anna announced that the King would be coming. And while we expected it to be a troublesome matter, we had trustworthy allies. Sherry and Kade sent over a dozen warriors to help out, with training first and foremost, but also to ensure no one would be hurt if possible. Ian had promised to be here himself, together with his gamma and a few warriors, in 3 days. As the pack’s Luna, and because I was the reason behind such chaos, I trained as diligently as anyone around. It was 3 pm. I was training with Paulina. With her soft guidance and indulgent patience, needless to say that I made great progress. “As a light witch,” Paulina began softly, “You can easily manipulate two elements... Maybe even three if you put your mind to it.” “I only seem good with fire though,” I pouted, hating how I had failed to make a ripple in the water, without touching it for some time. “You’ve only started training
Jade’s pov: A week passed since I resumed training as any dedicated warrior would. The mornings were dedicated to wolf training. On most afternoons, however, I trained as a witch, under Paulina’s guidance. Indeed, she might call me mistress, but I was still a real damn novice at this. She gave me a grimoire to look into, and I often found myself studying it.I was curious, sure, but I also wanted to be able to use my powers without overexerting myself. She told me all about exhaustion’s tell-tale signs. The issue was different although I tried to not say it out loud. Oh, I recognized said signs all too well, it was actually stopping that was an issue for me. One evening, as I put Tyler to sleep, Alex turned to me and said softly, “How’s training going for you, love?” “Peachy,” I offered him a small smile.“Will you be able to stop when you feel exhaustion set in?” He asked, straight and to the point, hitting the nail on the head. I couldn’t help but grimace a little. “What’s t
Jade’s pov: Upon reaching the pack house, I sought mom out at once, knocking on the door ever so slightly. I soon found her feeding Tyler the bottle. “Looks like someone’s missed you, darling,” she cooed softly, before lifting her gaze up and greeting me with a smile, “Hey, sweetheart.” “Hey, mom,” I hugged her and hugged my little boy in the process. Alex’s chuckles reached me from behind. I then didn’t waste a second to kiss Tyler on the forehead. Forehead kisses, as always, were meant to be kisses of protection. There was virtually nothing I wouldn’t do for my son, my family, and my pack… And even though I knew that my emotions might bring me to my knees one day, I just hoped the fall wouldn’t be too painful. I also prayed that my family and my friends would be there for me, cushioning the fall, if such a time ever came. Alex approached from behind, even as I gently grabbed Tyler and put him on my lap, cradling his head with my arm, and allowing him to drink his milk happily
Jade’s pov: Coming to the feeling of sweet pleasurable tingling making me feel alive, I opened my eyes groggily. I was no train wreck but I didn’t exactly feel okay either. I felt drained, and lifting up a hand felt like a real chore. Alex was tracing patterns with his thumb across the back of my right hand, and I reveled in the feeling. “Slept well, love?” He asked, a hint of teasing in his voice, though his concern was obvious. I let out a noncommittal Hmm in the back of my throat. “Is that a yes?” He chuckled, and didn’t even wince as he did so, even though I knew was injured. “Where am I?” I didn’t recognize the ceiling or the room where I was. “We’re still in Kade’s pack, love,” he supplied with a small smile which was no doubt meant to comfort me. “You needed the rest.” “And you needed treatment,” I nodded at him, agreeing at once, before voicing out my concern. “Are you okay, or at least better, honey?” “Of course, love,” he nodded, reassuring me with his words, with
