Alex’s POV

The safe house on the outskirts of the city offered little comfort. I had chosen it myself years ago as a contingency for business threats, never imagining I would use it to hide from my own body. Three days after leaving the medical facility, I still caught myself staring at mirrors, searching for the man I used to be. The reflection showed the same face, but everything else felt altered. Softer edges. Different posture. That persistent sweet scent that followed me everywhere.

I paced the reinforced living room, phone pressed to my ear. Uncle Leonard’s voice came through, trying too hard to sound optimistic.

“The lawyers are reviewing every clause in the will,” he said. “We have strong grounds to challenge the board’s decision. Nathan is only acting CEO. Temporary. You focus on recovery.”

“Recovery,” I repeated bitterly. “They speak about me as if I am broken merchandise.”

Leonard paused. “Some board members are nervous. Graves has already started sniffing around our eastern holdings. Nathan is handling the defense well, but I keep reminding them this situation is reversible. Or manageable.”

I ended the call and tossed the phone onto the couch. Manageable. The word mocked me. I had spent my life making sure nothing required management except through my direct control. Now doctors monitored my hormone levels daily through remote devices. They warned me about the coming heat. I refused to think about it.

A knock sounded at the door. I opened it to find two family aides carrying supplies. They avoided direct eye contact, their postures careful. Even they sensed the change in me. Behind them stood Nathan. He had insisted on checking on me personally.

“Alex,” he said, stepping inside without invitation. “I brought some documents for your review. Thought you might want to stay informed.”

I took the folder but did not open it. “Checking on your investment?”

He sighed as if genuinely hurt. “I know this is difficult. Father would have wanted us to work together during this time. The company needs stability.”

“Stability,” I echoed. “You mean control.”

Nathan’s calm expression did not waver. “The board voted. I did not force their hands. Several members expressed concern about public perception. An Omega leading major negotiations could weaken our position with partners who prefer traditional Alpha leadership.”

I wanted to argue, to remind him of every deal I had closed through sheer force of will. Instead I felt another wave of that strange fatigue wash over me. My skin grew warm again. I turned away so he would not see the flush creeping up my neck.

“Leave the documents and go,” I said.

Nathan lingered a moment longer. “Call if you need anything. We are still family.”

Once he left, I sank onto the couch and opened the folder. Reports showed Nathan had already made several key decisions in my absence. He moved with efficiency and confidence. Part of me hated how well he performed the role. Another part wondered if the board had been right to choose him.

The heat started that evening.

It began as a low ache in my lower back, similar to what I had felt in the boardroom but stronger. I ignored it at first and tried to review more documents. Within an hour the ache became a deep burning need that spread through my entire body. Sweat soaked through my shirt. My breathing grew ragged. Every nerve ending fired with uncomfortable sensitivity.

I stumbled to the bathroom and splashed cold water on my face. It helped for perhaps five minutes. Then the cramps returned, sharper this time. My legs shook. I gripped the sink edge and stared at my reflection. My pupils were blown wide. The scent pouring off my skin had grown thicker, sweeter, designed to signal vulnerability.

This could not be happening.

I made it back to the living room before another wave hit. I collapsed onto the floor, curling in on myself. Pain and something far worse twisted inside me. An emptiness. A hunger I had no words for. My mind fought against it even as my body demanded relief. I was an Alpha. I did not beg. I did not need anyone.

Hours blurred together. I lost track of time as the heat consumed me. At some point I must have called for help because medical staff arrived. They moved me carefully to the bedroom and administered suppressants that barely touched the fire. Doctors spoke in low voices around me.

“His levels are extreme,” one said. “The second differentiation left his system unstable.”

“Compatibility scan?” another asked.

I drifted in and out of consciousness. The pain ebbed and flowed like tides. During clearer moments I heard them discussing options. One name kept repeating. Marcus Blackthorn.

I knew the name well. The Blackthorn Empire rivaled our own in certain sectors. Marcus himself carried a reputation for ruthless efficiency and overwhelming Alpha presence. People spoke of him with both respect and fear. Now these doctors claimed he was my match.

“Ninety-eight percent compatibility,” a female doctor announced during one of my lucid periods. “We have rarely seen numbers this high. His body is rejecting standard suppressants. Without proper relief, the heat could cause permanent damage.”

I pushed myself up on shaky arms. “I will not go to him.”

The doctor met my eyes with professional sympathy. “Mr. Sterling, your body has changed. This is not a matter of pride anymore. The heat will only grow worse. Marcus Blackthorn has already been notified of the match. He has agreed to receive you.”

Agreed to receive me. The words filled me with fresh humiliation. I had once negotiated from positions of strength and now I would be delivered like a package to another Alpha’s door because my own biology demanded it.

Uncle Leonard arrived shortly after. His usual dramatic flair had faded into quiet worry. He sat beside the bed and placed a hand on my shoulder.

“This is temporary, Alex,” he said. “We get you through this heat, stabilize your condition, then we fight the board. I have contacts. We will restore your position.”

I wanted to believe him. But as another cramp tore through me, doubt crept in. My body no longer belonged to me. It answered to new rules, new instincts. I hated every second of it.

The transport came at midnight. Two medical attendants helped me into a reinforced vehicle with darkened windows. I barely registered the journey through the city. Pain clouded my thoughts. The suppressants had worn off again, and the heat returned with vicious intensity. I pressed my forehead against the cool seat and focused on breathing.

We pulled up to the Blackthorn estate, a sprawling compound of dark stone and steel that radiated power. Even in my weakened state I sensed the difference in atmosphere. This place belonged to an Alpha who tolerated no challenges.

The car door opened. A wave of rich, commanding scent hit me immediately. Heavy. Dark. Impossible to ignore. My body reacted against my will, the heat flaring hotter in response. I looked up and met the gaze of Marcus Blackthorn himself.

He stood tall and imposing, his presence filling the entrance like a force of nature. His eyes, sharp and assessing, studied me with careful intensity. For a moment neither of us spoke. The air between us crackled with something dangerous.

“Alex Sterling,” he said, voice low and controlled. “I did not expect our first meeting to happen under these circumstances.”

I tried to stand on my own but my legs betrayed me. One of the attendants caught my arm. Marcus stepped forward and took my weight instead. His touch burned through the fabric of my shirt. My body leaned into him instinctively while my mind recoiled.

“I do not want this,” I managed to say through gritted teeth.

Marcus’s expression remained unreadable. “Your body disagrees. Come inside. We will address this properly.”

They led me into the mansion. I caught glimpses of elegant dark wood and strategic lighting, but the heat made details blur. Marcus guided me to a prepared suite on the upper floor. The room carried his scent strongly, which only worsened my condition.

“Leave us,” he told the medical staff.

Once alone, he helped me sit on the edge of the large bed. I hated how much I needed the support. Hated how right his scent felt despite everything.

“You have fought this long enough,” Marcus said quietly. “Let me help you through it.”

I looked up at him, pride warring with desperation. This man represented everything I had lost. Power. Control. Alpha certainty. Yet my body craved him with an intensity that terrified me. The compatibility they measured was not just numbers. It was a biological trap.

“I was not supposed to need anyone,” I whispered.

Marcus knelt to my level, his presence overwhelming but strangely steady. “The world changed for you. Fighting it will only make this harder.”

Another wave of heat crashed over me. I reached for him before I could stop myself. My fingers gripped his shirt as the last threads of my resistance began to fray. In that moment, with my body on fire and my empire slipping away, I understood how completely my life had shifted.

This was only the beginning.

  • The Alpha’s Pregnant Omega Heir   Old Ghosts

Alex’s POVFlashbackThe office on the executive floor had always felt colder than the rest of the building. Too much glass, too much polished wood and too many people who smiled only when it benefited them.I was twenty-four then. Still the clear heir. Still the one everyone deferred to in meetings. Nathan stood near the window with a file in his hand, speaking in that calm, measured tone he used when he wanted to sound reasonable. The Omega was seated across from his desk.I did not know his name. He worked in one of the lower administrative departments. Young and quiet. The kind of person who kept his head down and did his job without drawing attention. His hands were clasped tightly in his lap, knuckles pale.“You missed the revised deadline,” Nathan said. “Again.”“I submitted it on time,” the Omega replied carefully. “There was a system delay. I reported it.”Nathan smiled without warmth. “That is convenient. Every time there is a problem, there is an explanation.”I was standi

  • The Alpha’s Pregnant Omega Heir   Check Up

Alex’s POVI woke up sore. Not in a dramatic way. Just that deep ache that made me stretch carefully before opening my eyes. My lower back was not happy. My thighs were not happy. Basically everything from the waist down had something to say about last night.Marcus was already awake beside me, scrolling on his phone. The second I moved, he looked over.“You are awake.”“Unfortunately,” I muttered. He set the phone down. “I think I went too hard on you.”I turned my head to stare at him. “You think?”“I am being serious.”“So am I.” I pushed myself up slowly and winced. “I felt that the moment I tried to move.”His mouth twitched. “That bad?”“Do not look proud.”“I am not proud.”“You are a little proud.”Marcus reached over and rested a hand on my hip. “Next time I will be more careful.”“That is a lie and we both know it.”He did not deny it.I swung my legs over the side of the bed and sat there for a second, rolling my shoulders. Marcus sat up behind me and wrapped an arm loosely

  • The Alpha’s Pregnant Omega Heir   Homecoming

Marcus’s POVThe car turned into the estate just as the afternoon light started to soften. Kai sat beside me, scrolling through his phone with that restless energy he always had after work.“You have been quiet,” he said. “Which either means you are planning something or you are thinking about Alex.”“Both can be true.”Kai smirked. “You are getting soft.”“Keep talking and I will assign you to inventory for a week.”He held up a hand. “I take it back.”The car stopped near the main entrance. I stepped out first. Before I could head inside, the doors opened and Elena walked out with Isabella just behind her. Alex followed a step later, looking more relaxed than he had in days.Kai stopped beside me the second he saw Elena.“Well,” he said under his breath. “This is a better welcome than usual.”Elena’s eyes landed on him almost immediately. “You again.”Kai put a hand over his chest. “You say that like it is a bad thing.”“It depends on the day.”Isabella looked between them, amused.

  • The Alpha’s Pregnant Omega Heir   A Day With Isabella

Alex’s POVI woke up to a face hovering directly above mine. For a second my brain did not process it properly. Then pure instinct took over.“Ah—!”I jerked back so hard I nearly fell off the bed, heart slamming against my ribs as I scrambled upright. Isabella stood beside the bed, perfectly calm, holding a cup of tea like she had not just nearly given me a heart attack.“Good morning,” she said pleasantly.I stared at her, still catching my breath. “Do you… regularly watch people sleep?”“Only when they are carrying my grandchild and refuse to wake up before mid-morning,” she replied. “Marcus said you needed rest. I decided that meant checking on you.”I dragged a hand down my face. “Where is Marcus?”“He left for work earlier. He said he would not be back until evening.” She set the tea on the bedside table. “Which means you are stuck with me for the day.”I blinked at her. “Stuck.”“Yes.” She smiled, clearly unbothered by the word. “Come on. Get dressed. I already told the kitchen

  • The Alpha’s Pregnant Omega Heir   After Dinner

Alex’s POVThe meal eventually slowed. Plates emptied, glasses sat half full, and the easy noise around the table softened. Isabella set her napkin down and looked around at all of us with clear satisfaction.“That was better,” she said. “I feel less like this house is surviving on stubbornness and cold food.”Kai stretched his arms above his head. “I feel personally attacked, but I will allow it because the food was good.”Ryker began gathering the nearest plates without being asked. Marcus glanced at him once and did not stop him. I pushed my chair back slightly, full and more relaxed than I had been all day.We stood and started heading out of the kitchen. The hallway felt warmer somehow. Isabella walked beside me as we reached the stairs, unhurried and comfortable. At the top of the stairs, I stopped and turned to her.“Thank you for dinner,” I said. Then I leaned in and pressed a quick kiss to her cheek. “Really. It was good.”Isabella’s face softened right away. She squeezed my

  • The Alpha’s Pregnant Omega Heir   Meeting Isabella

Alex’s POVI woke up to the low sound of movement in the suite. For a moment I stayed still, letting my eyes adjust to the morning light filtering through the curtains. The tiredness from the day before was still there, but it felt more manageable than it had last night. My stomach was quiet for once. No sudden wave of nausea. That alone felt like a small mercy.Marcus was already dressed when I sat up. He stood near the window, speaking quietly into his phone, but the moment he noticed I was awake he ended the call and walked over.“My mother will be here in an hour,” he said. “You do not have to prepare anything special. She is not the type to expect that.”I pushed the covers back and stood. “That is easy for you to say. You are not the one meeting your partner’s mother for the first time while pregnant.”A faint look of amusement crossed his face. “You will be fine.”I was not entirely convinced, but I nodded anyway and went to get ready. By the time I finished and
