Ken found me in the cottage just after dawn.

"News from the Pack house," he said quietly. "The shipment arrived yesterday. Lexie consumed the tea as expected."

My pulse quickened. "And?"

"No reaction. Her eyes didn't flash gold." He paused. "But she complained of feeling worse afterward. Claimed the tea made her nauseous and demanded the kitchen staff be punished for serving her something spoiled."

I almost laughed. Of course she did. Turn suspicion into sympathy. Classic Lexie.
