LOGINLyra's POV
Darkness swallowed me whole.
I screamed as I fell through an endless void, the wind whipping my hair across my face. There was no ground beneath me, no sky above me—only an endless sea of black that stretched in every direction.
My heart hammered against my ribs.
"Father!" I cried.
No one answered.
The silver light that had burst from my body moments earlier had disappeared, leaving me completely alone.
Then, just as suddenly as the fall had begun...
My feet struck solid ground.
I collapsed onto cold stone, the impact forcing the air from my lungs.
For several seconds, I could do nothing but gasp.
When I finally pushed myself upright, I realized I was no longer in the Forbidden Forest.
Towering black pillars surrounded me, disappearing into a ceiling hidden by swirling silver mist. Strange blue flames floated silently through the air, casting dancing shadows across walls carved with ancient wolves.
The place felt... alive.
As if it had been waiting for me.
I slowly stood, my legs still shaking.
"Where am I?"
My voice echoed endlessly through the massive chamber.
No reply.
Only silence.
I wrapped my arms around myself.
Everything that had happened tonight replayed through my mind.
Kael rejecting me before the entire pack.
The mysterious voice warning me to run.
The glowing pendant.
The silver-haired guardian.
Ronan...
My father.
The word still felt strange.
I had spent twenty-one years believing I had no family.
Now I had found one...
Only to lose him again within minutes.
A tear rolled down my cheek.
"I don't even know if he's alive."
My wolf whimpered softly.
"He'll find us."
"I hope you're right."
A loud crack echoed through the chamber.
I spun around.
One of the enormous stone doors was opening on its own.
Ancient gears groaned as the heavy entrance slowly parted.
Beyond it lay a long corridor illuminated by rows of glowing crystals.
Something inside me whispered to walk forward.
Every instinct told me to run the other way.
But what choice did I have?
I took a deep breath and stepped into the corridor.
The moment I crossed the doorway, symbols carved into the floor lit up beneath my feet.
Silver.
Gold.
Blue.
One after another, they stretched ahead of me like a path.
The deeper I walked, the stronger the strange energy became.
It wasn't frightening.
It was familiar.
Comforting.
Almost like...
Home.
I frowned.
How could this place feel like home when I'd never been here before?
The corridor finally opened into an enormous circular hall.
I stopped in my tracks.
Statues lined the room.
Hundreds of them.
Kings.
Queens.
Warriors.
Every one of them wore a crown shaped like a crescent moon.
At the center of the hall stood a magnificent silver throne.
It was unlike anything I had ever seen.
Its back was carved into the shape of two wolves standing beneath a full moon.
As I stared at it, my pendant grew warm once again.
"No..."
The warmth spread through my entire body.
Without thinking, I took another step.
Then another.
It was as if an invisible force was guiding me toward the throne.
"I shouldn't..."
But my feet refused to stop.
When I finally stood before it, the throne began to glow.
A soft female voice filled the hall.
"Welcome home... Princess."
I froze.
Princess.
The Blood Order leader had called me that.
Now this place was calling me the same thing.
"I'm not a princess," I whispered.
The room remained silent.
Slowly...
The throne shimmered.
A transparent figure appeared before me.
She was breathtaking.
Long silver hair flowed down her back, and a jeweled crown rested upon her head. Her gentle eyes held both sadness and pride.
She smiled.
"You look just like your mother."
My throat tightened.
"You knew her too?"
"I am your grandmother."
I stared at her in disbelief.
"My name is Queen Elena."
She bowed her head slightly.
"The last Queen of the Moon Kingdom."
Before I could ask another question, a deafening roar shook the entire palace.
Dust rained from the ceiling.
Queen Elena's expression changed instantly.
"They found you."
"Who?"
"The ones who destroyed our kingdom."
Another violent explosion echoed through the palace.
This one was closer.
The Queen reached for my hands.
Her fingers passed through mine like mist.
"You must awaken your inheritance before they reach this chamber."
"I don't know how!"
"You will."
Her voice remained calm despite the growing danger.
"It is already inside you."
The palace shook again.
Cracks spread across the floor beneath the throne.
Then...
A loud, mocking laugh echoed through the hall.
"So this is where the royal bloodline has been hiding."
A tall figure stepped through the broken doorway.
His black cloak dragged across the stone floor.
His golden eyes burned with hatred.
Behind him stood dozens of armored warriors.
He smiled as his gaze settled on me.
"At last..."
He slowly unsheathed a blood-red sword.
"...I've found the last Moon Princess."
The stranger's golden eyes never left mine.
"...I've found the last Moon Princess."
My pulse thundered in my ears.
"I don't know who you think I am," I said, forcing my trembling legs to stay still.
"Oh, but you do." He smiled, though there wasn't an ounce of kindness in it. "You simply haven't accepted it yet."
Queen Elena stepped in front of me, her translucent form glowing brighter.
"You have no place here, Malakar."
The man laughed, his voice echoing through the ancient hall.
"I have every place here. Your kingdom fell because it was weak. Tonight, its final heir falls with it."
He lifted his blood-red sword.
The warriors behind him spread out, surrounding the throne room.
My instincts screamed at me to run, but there was nowhere to go.
Queen Elena turned to me, her expression calm despite the danger.
"Listen to me carefully, Lyra. Courage is not the absence of fear. It is choosing to stand even when you are afraid."
"I don't know how to fight."
"You don't need to."
She gently touched the pendant around my neck.
"You only need to believe that your mother's sacrifice was not in vain."
The pendant burst into brilliant silver light.
The symbols carved into the throne awakened one by one, filling the chamber with an ancient hum.
Malakar's confident smile faded.
"No..."
The entire palace trembled.
A beam of moonlight pierced through the ceiling and landed directly on the throne.
The silver light wrapped around me, warm and gentle, driving away the fear that had gripped my heart since the night began.
A voice unlike any I had ever heard whispered through the hall.
The heir has returned.
Every statue bowed its head.
The warriors took an uneasy step backward.
Malakar tightened his grip on his sword.
"Stop her!" he roared.
Before anyone could move, the throne erupted with blinding light.
I instinctively raised my hands to shield my eyes.
When the light finally faded, something rested upon the seat of the throne.
A silver crown.
Its crescent-shaped jewels shimmered beneath the moonlight, as though it had been waiting centuries for this moment.
Queen Elena looked at me with tears glistening in her eyes.
"It has chosen."
My heart pounded as the crown slowly rose into the air...
...and began drifting toward me.
Lyra's POV"Because the King is the prison.”The woman's voice echoed through the chamber.I couldn't move. She had Mother's face.Mother's eyes.Mother's voice. But she wasn't my mother.I knew that.I had to.“Who are you?” I whispered. The woman smiled.“That's the question you've been asking since the night you were born.”Kael stepped in front of me.“Stay away from her.”The woman looked at him.Something changed in her expression. Not fear.Recognition.“You.”Kael's jaw tightened.“You know me?”“I know what you carry.”Her eyes dropped to the black mark on his chest.“The blood of the first King.”Kael looked down at the mark.“I thought that bloodline was supposed to protect the Moon Kingdom.”“It was.”She took another step forward.“Until your ancestor chose the Moon Queen.”The First King. The story we'd already heard. But something about the woman's voice made it sound different.“He didn't just choose her,” she continued. “He chose to betray his own brother.”Kael frown
Lyra's POVThe hand around my ankle tightened.Cold.That was the first thing I felt. Not pain.Cold.It traveled through my skin and straight into my bones.I screamed and tried to pull away.“Lyra!”Kael grabbed my waist.Seraphine seized my hands.Together, they pulled. The hand didn't move.Instead, something beneath the floor pulled harder. My body slid across the stone.“Don't let go!” I cried.Kael wrapped both arms around me.“I won't!”The crack beneath us widened.Black mist poured from it.The dead warriors backed away.Even the First King stepped away from the opening. That frightened me more than anything else.“You know what's down there,” I said.He didn't answer.“Tell me!”His eyes remained fixed on the darkness.“You don't want to know.”The hand pulled again. My fingers slipped from Seraphine's.“Lyra!”I reached for her.Our fingertips touched. Then the floor beneath me collapsed.I fell.Kael caught my wrist. For one terrifying second, I hung over the darkness.Hi
Lyra's POVKael smiled. But I knew that smile. It wasn't his.I had seen Kael smile a hundred times. When he was teasing me.When he was trying to hide his worry. When he looked at me as if the rest of the world had disappeared. This smile held none of that.It was cold.Ancient.Hungry.I slowly stepped backward.“Kael?”His head tilted. For several seconds, he said nothing. Then he laughed. The sound was low and unfamiliar.“You still call him that.”My heart stopped.“Who are you?”His black eyes remained fixed on mine.“You already know.”“No.”“Yes.”He took one step toward me.The dead army moved with him.Hundreds of swords lifted.Seraphine grabbed my wrist.“Lyra, don't.”I couldn't look away from Kael.“Give him back.”Kael's smile widened.“He isn't here.”My chest tightened.“That's a lie.”“Is it?”He touched the black mark on his chest.“He fought.”His voice changed. For one brief second, it sounded like Kael.“Lyra…”My breath caught. His eyes flickered silver.“Run.”
Lyra's POV"Bring me my daughters.”The words did not come from the creature’s mouth. They came from everywhere. From the stone beneath my feet. From the dead warriors kneeling before me.From the darkness beyond the ancient doorway.Even from inside my own chest.I couldn't breathe. My eyes remained fixed on the enormous shape beyond the gate.It had no true face.Only darkness. Two enormous wings stretched across the space behind it, disappearing into the blackness above. Hundreds of pale eyes opened along its body, blinking slowly as though they were waking after thousands of years. And yet, somehow, I knew it.Not its name. Not its history. But its presence. It felt terrifyingly familiar.“Lyra.”Seraphine's voice trembled beside me.I turned toward her.For the first time since I had met my twin, she looked afraid. Not angry. Not powerful.Afraid.“You feel it too,” I whispered. She nodded.“It knows us.”The First King laughed. The sound echoed through the dead army.“You finall
Lyra's POVNo one moved. Not the soldiers. Not the ancient woman. Not even Kael.Thousands of dead warriors stood behind the First King, their empty eyes fixed on me.Then, slowly, they lowered themselves to one knee.Every sword touched the ground. The sound traveled across the palace like thunder.I stared at them in disbelief.“Why are they kneeling to me?”The First King smiled.“Because they remember.”“Remember what?”“Who you were.”I shook my head.“I have never seen any of them.”“You haven't.”He stepped through the doorway.“But they have seen you.”The dead warriors raised their heads.A strange pressure filled the air. Then one of them spoke.“My Queen.”Another followed.“My Queen.”Then hundreds.Thousands.“My Queen.”Their voices merged into one enormous sound.I stepped backward.“I am not your queen.”The First King laughed.“You still believe that.”Kael moved beside me.His sword was raised, though his hand was shaking.“Stay away from her.”The First King looked
Lyra's POVI couldn't move.Kael stood before me.But the thing wearing his face wasn't Kael. Its silver hair was the same. Its body was the same.Even the tiny scar beneath his left eye was there. But his eyes…They were black.Completely black.“You're lying,” I whispered. The creature smiled.“I have no reason to.”I tightened my grip on the Blade of Dawn.“Give him back.”It tilted Kael's head.“He was never yours to begin with.”My heart cracked.“That isn't true.”“Isn't it?”It took one step toward me.“The man you love is only a vessel now.”“No.”“You can still save him.”My breath caught.“How?”The creature smiled.“Kill me.”I stared at it.“What?”“Kill this body.”My fingers tightened around the blade.“If you destroy me, Kael dies with me.”I lowered the weapon slightly.“You're bluffing.”“Am I?”It pressed one hand against its chest. The black mark beneath Kael's skin pulsed. His face suddenly twisted in pain.“Stop!”I rushed toward him.The creature grabbed my wrist
