Lyra's POVThe Moon Goddess was supposed to bless tonight.Instead, she destroyed me.I stood before the towering Black Moon Pack Hall, my trembling fingers smoothing the silver fabric of the dress my mother had sewn by hand before she died. It wasn't the finest dress among the unmated wolves gathered for the annual Moon Ceremony, but it was the only thing I had left of her."Tonight," she'd once whispered while brushing my hair, "the Moon Goddess will lead your mate to you. Never doubt her plan."I had believed every word. For twenty-one years, I dreamed of this moment. Every girl in the pack did. We imagined the first spark when our eyes met our fated mate's, the warmth of the bond wrapping around our souls, and the promise that we would never be alone again.I clutched the small crescent moon pendant hanging around my neck."Please," I whispered to the glowing full moon above. "Let tonight be everything she promised."Around me, laughter echoed through the courtyard. Young wolves c

Lyra's POV"I have finally found my daughter."The words echoed through the clearing, stealing the air from my lungs. My daughter?"No..." I whispered, shaking my head. "You're mistaken."The crimson-eyed stranger stepped out of the shadows. He was unlike any werewolf I had ever seen.He stood well over six feet tall, his broad shoulders wrapped in a long black cloak that brushed the forest floor. His dark hair framed a striking face marked by an old scar across his left eyebrow. Power rolled off him in waves, so overwhelming that every warrior in the clearing instinctively lowered their heads.Even the wolves whimpered. The silver-haired woman bowed respectfully."My King."King?I stared at her in disbelief. There hadn't been a werewolf king for generations. At least... that's what I had always been told. The stranger's crimson eyes softened as they settled on me."You have your mother's eyes."My heart pounded painfully."You knew my mother?"A shadow crossed his face."I loved her

Lyra's POVMy heart pounded as the crown slowly rose into the air......and began drifting toward me.Every breath caught in my throat. The silver crown floated gracefully through the moonlight, its crescent-shaped jewels glowing brighter with every inch it traveled. Tiny streams of silver light spiraled around it like living stars.I instinctively stepped back."I can't..."Queen Elena's gentle smile never wavered."You can.""I don't even know what it is.""It is your birthright."The crown stopped only inches from my face, hovering silently. It felt alive. Not dangerous.Waiting.My trembling fingers curled into fists."I don't know how to be a queen.""You are not being asked to become one."Queen Elena's silver eyes softened."You are only being asked to become yourself."A deafening roar shattered the moment."Enough!"Malakar slammed the tip of his blood-red sword against the stone floor. The entire throne room shook. His golden eyes burned with fury as he glared at the floatin

Lyra's POVThe glowing blue eyes remained fixed on me from the darkness ahead.Every instinct told me to run.My heart pounded so hard I could hear it echoing through the narrow tunnel beneath the palace. Behind me, the sounds of battle still raged above as Malakar and his Shadow Guard fought against the palace's ancient protectors.Queen Elena's final words echoed in my mind.Go... The fate of the kingdom depends on you.I took a slow breath and forced myself to step forward. The Moon Crown resting upon my head glowed softly, filling the tunnel with silver light. As its light spread, the darkness slowly retreated, revealing walls carved with ancient symbols unlike any I had seen before. The growl came again.Low.Powerful.Ancient.It vibrated through the stone beneath my feet."Who's there?" I called, trying to sound bravier than I felt. Silence answered. Then the shadows moved.A massive wolf stepped into the light.I froze. I saw him, he was so different from any wolf I had ever i

Kael's POVThe palace shook beneath my feet as I raced through the shattered corridors.Stone rained from the ceiling.Smoke and dust clouded the once-beautiful halls of the Moon Kingdom, but nothing could stop me now.Not after what I had felt. The mate bond had exploded with pain only moments ago.Lyra.She was alive. But she was suffering.Every heartbeat told me the same thing.Find her.Behind me, my warriors fought fiercely against Malakar's Shadow Guard. Their growls echoed through the palace as silver blades clashed against crimson magic."Alpha!" Rowan shouted. "The eastern hall is collapsing!""Get everyone out!" I ordered without slowing."What about you?""I'll bring her home."A deafening crack echoed ahead. Then I heard her scream. My blood turned to ice."Lyra!"Power surged through my body.My wolf took over. With a roar, I slammed into the enormous stone doors blocking the chamber. The ancient doors exploded inward.Dust filled the air. When it cleared...I saw her.S
