LOGINKarenâs POV
Zaidenâs last words echoed in my head. âDonât leave this room.â
At first, I thought it was just his Alpha possessiveness, his way of caging me. But then the howls began.
The first was distant, sharp a patrol signal. The second came closer. Louder. Then another, and another, until the night split with a chorus that made every hair on my body stand upright.
My wolf stirred restlessly inside me. Danger. Blood.
I rushed to the window, pressing trembling fingers against the cold glass. Below, the courtyard had erupted into chaos. Sunrise warriors shifted mid-run, their clothes shredding as fur ripped through their skin. Rogues dozens of them came crashing over the eastern wall, snarling, frothing, their eyes glowing with feral red light.
The clash was immediate. Wolves lunged at each other. Teeth tore. Bodies slammed into the ground with bone-cracking force. Screams and snarls tangled together until I couldnât tell which belonged to Sunrise warriors and which belonged to rogues.
And then I saw Zaiden.
He was already in his wolf, a towering shadow of black fur and blazing golden eyes. His power was devastating, terrifying. Each swipe of his claws shredded rogues apart. His jaws crushed throats like they were nothing. He fought like a beast born only for war, and the rogues fell around him like flies.
My wolf whimpered, belly-deep and desperate. Mate. Ours.
My human side recoiled. My chest tightened, fear clawing at me. I wanted to run, to fight, to do something but his command held me down like iron shackles.
Donât leave this room.
So I didnât.

Zaidenâs POV
âAlpha!â Coleâs voice slammed through the mindlink, sharp and urgent. âThe rogues are attacking. Iâve taken the pack to the safe house, but our men canât hold them alone. We need you.â
The words had barely finished when the stench hit me.
Rot. Blood. Rogues.
I was already moving, my wolf clawing to the surface. Bones snapped, fur tore through skin, and in the next breath, I was on four paws, golden eyes burning.
The howls of alarm shook the grounds as shadows poured over the east wall dozens of rogues, snarling, foam dripping from their jaws.
Pathetic.
Did they think they could step onto my land and leave breathing?
I launched into the first wave. My claws ripped through flesh, hot blood spraying across the dirt. My jaws snapped shut around a throat, crunching bone in one brutal shake. The rogue dropped lifeless, and my wolf roared in triumph.
But even as I slaughtered, the bond thrummed at the back of my mind.
Karen.
Iâd told her not to leave that room. She should be safe. But her fear bled through the bond, spiking sharp, her wolf restless, clawing to fight.
Stay there, I growled silently, tearing another rogue apart. Youâre mine. You stay where I put you.
âAlpha!â Cole burst into view, his grey wolf ripping down a rogue at my flank. âTheyâre pouring in from the woods testing the borders!â
Good. Let them come.
I bared my teeth, eyes flashing molten gold. âThen weâll remind them who owns this land.â
We surged forward. Blood painted the earth, bodies broke beneath our fury, and the rogues began to falter because it wasnât just Sunrise wolves they were fighting. It was me.
Every kill was a vow, a warning: no one touched my pack. No one touched what was mine.
Not my land, not my wolves, not even my mate.
**********
The rogues scattered at last, broken bodies littering the courtyard. Their snarls faded into the forest as the survivors fled with tails tucked between their legs.
I stood among the carnage, chest heaving, black fur dripping with blood that wasnât mine. The scent of iron and rot stung my nose, but beneath it all, one scent pulsed stronger hers.
Karen.
I forced my wolf back, bones snapping, skin knitting until I stood human once more. Warriors shifted around me, wounded but alive, clearing the grounds. I gave quick orders, my voice still edged with a growl.
âClean this up. Burn the bodies outside the borders. Double patrols. No one rests until I say so.â
Cole padded to my side, his grey fur stained red, before shifting. He bowed his head, sweat dripping down his temple. âAlpha, the borders are secured for now.â
I nodded. âGood. Report to me in my office.â
I cast one last glance at the east wing. Her room. My chest tightened. I wanted to go to her, but if sheâd obeyed, she was still inside safe. That had to be enough. For now.
I turned on my heel and stalked to the packhouse, the air thick with smoke and blood. Inside, silence pressed heavy, only broken by distant howls fading into nothingness.
By the time I reached my office, Cole was already there, bowing low.
âAlpha,â he said, his tone tight. âThereâs⌠an urgent matter we need to address.â
My jaw flexed. Another proble

I lowered myself into the chair behind my desk, golden eyes locking on him. âSpeak.â
Karenâs POV The next morning came. I woke up slowly, the soft light of the sun filtering through my window, warming my face. For a moment, I just lay there, doing nothing, just staring. Then I turned slightly. My eyes fell on the flowers. Right where I had left them. Fresh and beautiful. My chest tightened. Last night⌠was good, I thought. I sat up slowly, pulling the covers off me, my fingers brushing lightly against the dress beside me. I paused, holding it for a second. I remembered he called right after I felt that lonely feeling, when I saw my phone beside me. I exhaled slowly and stood up, forcing myself to move. Work didnât wait for feelings. And neither did life. I first got to the bathroom and performed my morning ritual, then dressed up, carried my cross bag, and left for work. The chief maid had prepared something for me, which I ate and left. I went outside the gate only to see Charles waiting for me. I walked towards him with a smile. âGood morning, Luna,â he bowed. â
Karenâs POV By the time I got home, everything felt⌠quiet again. I closed the door gently behind me, leaning against it for a second as I let out a small breath. The kind you donât realize youâve been holding all day. My eyes dropped to the flowers in my hand. I smiled. Walking slowly into my room, I placed them carefully on the table, adjusting them like they were something fragile⌠something important. Because they were. I sat on the edge of my bed, my fingers brushing lightly over the petals. âTheyâre beautiful,â I whispered, even though no one was there to hear it. I could still hear his voice in my head. âDo you like them?â I let out a soft laugh, shaking my head slightly. âYouâre unbelievableâŚâ The words came out quieter this time. I leaned back slowly, pulling my legs up onto the bed, my gaze still fixed on the flowers. Then my eyes drifted to the dress. Folded neatly where I had placed it earlier. I reached for it without thinking, my fingers curling into th
Zaiden POVWe actually intended on coming back in probably a weekâs time or so. We only wanted to make sure everything was alright before we left. I personally didn't want to come back here. I needed to be with my mate soon and get the Luna ceremony and rites done as soon as possible.I remembered I hadn't spoken to Adrian, so I decided to put him on the line.âHello.ââAlpha,â he greeted.âHow's everything going?â I asked.âPretty good,â he said. âI know you'll soon be back. Just a little touch-up remaining, I promise. Before you even make up your mind to come back, Iâm done.ââYou sound too confident,â I sighed.âYes, I do. I've connected all the dots. I only have the last one remaining.ââGreat. When I'm back, we'd be leaving immediately.ââOkay,â he replied.I went back into the house, going to my room. I saw Thelma and her brother.âUncle Zai!â they screamed and ran towards me while I bent to pick them up.âHow are you doing, kiddos?ââWeâre good!â Thelma said happily. âMom said
Nelissa's POVAfter going all lovey-dovey with Adrian, I left his room for mine. Then I got a text from my dad, telling me to come to his office. I was glad I hadn't reached my room yet.I got to his office and knocked, then I was allowed in.âGood day, Dad,â I said.I turned to the other side, seeing the elders of the council gathered. I wondered what was wrong.âGood day, elders,â I bowed. They nodded.âHave your seat,â my dad said. I sat.âOkay, we called you here because, as we all know, Xavier would be back anytime soon. We need to go ahead with the mating and marking rites.ââDad, I don't think Xavier is ready for that.ââWhat more does he want to prepare for? Time is no longer on our side.ââDad, he might be busy with Alpha duties. We know fully well that he's been busy going from pack to pack, inviting Alphas for alliances for the sake of protecting his pack. We need to give him some time, at least.ââIt's fine, but that'd be anytime soon.ââSure,â I replied, even though somet
Nelissa POV I didnât realize when it started happening. When being around Adrian stopped feeling⌠dangerous, and started feeling normal, I guess that was because Xavier was no longer around and there was nothing to fear, we've been fucking for close to two weeks not everyday though but enough to get acquainted to each other and to think Adrian was never interested, now he's been all over me. I pushed open the door to his room without knocking, already knowing heâd be there. He always was at this hour. He didnât even look surprised. âYouâre getting bold,â he muttered, glancing up from where he sat, sleeves rolled, hair slightly messy like heâd been running his hands through it. I leaned against the door, crossing my arms. âYou donât lock your door.â âYou donât knock.â âSame thing.â A faint smirk tugged at his lips. Goddess!! That smirk. I rolled my eyes and stepped inside anyway, closing the door behind me. The room felt warmer than mine. Or maybe it was just him.
Zaiden POVâYouâre at work,â I said quietly.âYeah,â she replied. âLunch rush. I stepped outside when I saw your name.âI could picture it perfectly â her standing in the alley behind the restaurant, apron still tied around her waist, hair pulled back, phone pressed to her ear like it mattered.âHow are you?â I asked. There was a small pause.âIâm okay,â she said, but her voice softened. âHow are you?ââIâm fine.âShe didnât respond immediately.âYou donât sound fine.âI leaned back against the wall, closing my eyes. âMissionâs over.ââIs everyone okay?ââYeah.âAnother pause.âAnd you?â she asked gently.I hesitated.âIâm still here.âShe exhaled slowly, and I could hear the relief in it. âDonât do that.ââDo what?ââTalk like youâre replaceable.âMy jaw tightened slightly.âI just missed you,â I admitted, my voice lower now.Silence.Then, softer than before, âI missed you too.âGoddess.Those words hit harder than they should have.âI kept checking my phone,â she continued. âEvery
After a while we got to cabin. She couldn't even wait she pulled me into a rough kiss the one that held no emotion or anything attached with it. She was fully in control, she immediately shifted a way from me. âStrip.â She said with a rough voice. âYou don't get to order me around.â I grow
Eryx POV I woke to her warmth. She curled into my chest, still wearing my shirt, her hair a mess against my arm like sheâd claimed the space without asking. My wolf stirred lazily, satisfied, possessive in the quiet way that didnât need teeth or force. I stayed still for a moment, just watching
Karen POV âAfter the call. âI helped the warriors prepare for travel, documents, timing, logistics. Flights had to be clean and discreet. No unnecessary attention. I double-checked everything, making sure nothing was left to chance. Bags were packed, instructions clear, routes mapped out. âBy t
Zaiden POVI saw Xavier sitting with someone. It was Alpha Ralph, the alpha of Black Rose Pack. I guess he was his ally, so I greeted them with a nod and sat down. I guess we were waiting for the other alphas to arrive. Luckily, they arrived in no time, and we started the meeting immediately by int
