“I can’t believe you are doing this to me! Let’s see what Dad will say once he finds out you kidnapped me! You moron,” I snarled at him, but he seemed unbothered at all.

Instead, he closed the gap between us and gazed into my eyes. I made sure he could see the pure hatred in me. But the intensity of his gaze made me nervous. I smelled him so fine, so amazing... It reminded me of the fresh lavender field with the touch of earthy, refreshing scent of morning dew. I had to suppress myself from closing my eyes and sniffing at him.

“We both know that you can’t do that, Giselle. You are too afraid to go back to your dad, and because you are too stubborn to go back to the Sidney manor, then I have to keep you here just to make sure you are safe,” he uttered, and then his eyes went down to my stomach. “And that... thing.”

That thing.

Those words cut my heart like hot knives, and tears of anger started to burn in my eyes. “How dare you, Caden Einsworth! I want you to take me back to the city before I call the authorities.” I hissed at him threateningly between my teeth.

The arrogant grin on his face disappeared, and his eyes glinted red, which almost made me gasp. I never saw Caden get so angry before, but there was no way I would let him humiliate me like this. He couldn’t make me stay in his manor like a prisoner.

“You have no choice, Giselle. Either you stay here or you go back to your father. You choose,” he answered me with a threat.

I glared at him. I knew he was just doing it for the baby. “I hate you, Caden,” I hissed at him.

“You can hiss all you want, Giselle. But you are now inside my territory, and that means you will do whatever I say. Welcome to Highridge Pack,” he grinned at me mischievously and then signaled the head maid to accompany me to my new bedroom and left.

My knees weakened as soon as he was gone. I had no idea what I was even doing. I never wanted to see Caden or even have him around me. I started to panic inside while walking behind the headmaid. She was not a talkative person, though—a woman in her late forties who was wearing eyeglasses. She had that strict look on her face. After demonstrating my new room, she abandoned me there without mentioning her name, as if I were trash that their master picked up at random.

I couldn’t blame her, though. They didn’t know anything about me, and I had no intention of telling any of them that I was the daughter of the second-most powerful Alpha in this region. Only I left my father and the pack to save my family from a huge scandal I had with the Alpha of this Manor.

Will Caden be able to hide everything from my family?

I had no idea what his plans were. And it scares me.

*****

I didn’t sleep well last night.

The new surroundings, the new scent of the things around the room, and the new scenery made me a little wary and uncomfortable. After living in cheap apartments for over a month, I got a little used to the smell of old wooden furniture, the noise of the busy street outside, and the yelling neighbors.

Everything here was perfect. The room was painted white. Beautiful sheer curtains were hanging on the huge windows. All I could hear outside was the noise coming from the sea birds flying outside the manor. I didn’t know what to expect in this place, but there was no way I would let Caden decide things for me, even if it meant I was under his and his pack’s care.

I looked down at the crumpled white blanket and closed my eyes.

That night, I still couldn’t get it out of my head, no matter how much I convinced myself that it was all a huge mistake. But why was it so beautiful in my memory? Why did it feel like an exquisite dream instead of a nightmare?

A few knocks on the door almost made me jump, and a maid entered my room with an anxious look on her small face. She uttered nervously, “Uhm, ma'am, your breakfast is ready in the dining hall with the Alpha. He is already waiting for you. Do you need my help to get you prepared?”

“He’s waiting for me?” I asked, a little disoriented because I never thought Caden had any time to deal with my mood swings. “In the dining hall?”

“Yes, Ma’am. He told me you have to be there in ten minutes, so we better hurry.” The young maid nodded her head at me, her eyes careful not to stare too long at my face, which made me a little uncomfortable to see she was scared.

“Come here. I don’t eat people,” I smiled at her. “Let your Alpha wait.”

There was a small panic in her eyes, though, but she stepped inside my room and started preparing my bath and my clothes. I took time cleaning myself. I intended to annoy Caden and make him g*dd*mn wait until he got famished.

When I got outside the bath, there were already three maids waiting for me. All of them looked pale as they worked on my hair and helped me dress. One of them asked me to follow her to the dining hall. Her steps were small but fast. I wanted to tell her to slow down, though, but she looked terrified already, and I didn’t want to stress her more.

We entered the dining hall with a huge, annoying smile on my lips, and my eyes went straight to Caden’s face. I would never lie. I enjoyed the look on his face as he glared at me.

“What time is it already, Gisselle? Didn’t the maid tell you to get here in ten minutes?” He asked in a low voice as he suppressed his anger.

God, I like it when he’s mad.

“Well, you know I don’t live by the rules. You used to be an artist, and you know that.” I gave him an irritating smile and winked at him. I thought I saw his nose flare before he closed his eyes and calmed himself down.

It looked as if he wanted to lash out something at me, but then he decided not to and gestured for me to start having breakfast.

I raised an eyebrow at him, and we started eating in silence. Since I moved out of the Sidney Manor, I never had any proper breakfast, and having slices of bacon and eggs was just satisfying.

“I want you to go with me,” I said to him after I chewed my food, and he gave me a curious look in his eyes. “I need to go to a doctor and buy something for the baby.”

He frowned, “Isn’t that too early for that yet? I mean the baby things—”

“I know. But I don’t want to stay here the whole day doing nothing.” I grumbled and gave him a blank look on my face. “You said you would do anything for me to stay here, right? So you have to go with me for my daily check-up. That’s the deal.”

“I thought you never wanted me around you, Giselle,” he said, squinting his eyes at me with a teasing grin on his face. “What made you change your mind?”

Oh, was he challenging me? Thought he could bend me with his gorgeous grin?

There was a minute of silence between us as we stared at each other. I wish it didn't show on my face how nervous I was. Or how I adore that charming look on his face. I couldn’t let him win. He would never know what I felt about him, because that would only cause me huge heartbreak.

I knew who he wanted. And it was sad that he was only stuck with me because of the small pup he called ‘thing’ inside me.

“You wanted me here, right? So deal with it.” I tilted my head and acted cute with a fake smile.

But, to be honest, I was too scared to go to the doctor alone. I have never been in a clinic or hospital since I was a child and had a bad fever. My father used to tease me that the reason I was so stubborn and angry was because of that fever that almost killed me when I was six. It wasn’t funny, though. But I thought Father was so scared for me that day that he wanted to just make a joke out of it to hide his pain.

He leaned against the backrest of his chair, a little exasperated. “Fine. I’ll just adjust all my appointments this day, and we will go to your doctor.”

“Good.”

The wolf inside me smiled victoriously. She will have her mate the whole day.

“What will happen now, Caden?”The night was so tranquil and the sky was clear and full of stars. I can’t remember the last time I felt this safe and peaceful—no fears. I had everything I needed in life.“Hmmm…” Caden smiled and pulled me against him. His skin was hot against mine and it was so difficult to suppress myself from biting my lower lip hard. Goddess. He’s just lying beside me and I couldn’t help but admire his beauty.Especially those gorgeous green eyes.He gazed at me and caressed my cheek. ”We will move to Einsworth Manor in three days.”My eyes widened a bit, “The Manor? But wasn’t it destroyed—”“I had it built again. I didn’t make any changes to it. I wanted it the same as before, and it made me miss you when I looked into every corner of that building. I thought you would love it.”“Oh, I love that house, Caden.” I smiled at him, feeling so happy, “So many crazy things happened there and... and that house was my witness of how I tried to fight for both of us.”“That

“Love? How are you feeling?”I gazed into Caden’s eyes. He was lying on an inclined bed, his eyes drooping after he gave three bags of blood to his brother. All of us were relieved when we found out that Caden and Otis were the same blood type.“He’s my brother indeed,” Caden smiled at me and reached for my hand and held it.“Three bags, Caden? You are going to kill yourself,” I hissed at him. “The doctor said he only needs one!”“It’s fine, love. My body will produce them in no time.” He squeezed my hand. His eyes were gentle as he gazed at my face, “I just found out that there are two more patients who need the same blood type so I volunteered to donate to them as well.”The worries in me disappeared, and my shoulders relaxed from the anxiety I felt since we came here to the hospital. “The operation is a success,” I told him with a weak smile and I leaned closer to give him a soft kiss on his soft lips. “Otis will live.”My husband made a sigh of relief and closed his eyes. I could

My heart felt like exploding as I watched Caden fight with Miranda.I won’t lie but even with his age, Miranda moved like he was just in his thirties! His agility and his beetle skill parred with Caden but there was no mistake that Caden was stronger. I don’t know how Miranda could endure those powerful strikes and Caden’s razor-sharp claws. It seemed his regeneration ability was much faster than normal, which was alarming.Miranda was trying to exhaust Caden and that’s not going to happen!“Luna, please, stay still!” the healer pleaded. I felt the last silver bullet leave my body after the healer extracted it from my shoulder and slowly, my cells and tissues started to redevelop and my wounds closed. I ignored the healer’s advice not to push myself yet and went towards my husband, wanting to help him make Miranda surrender.[Giselle! What are you doing? You still need to fully recover!] Caden said in fret as he landed on his four feet, not too far from me.[I want to help, Caden!] I

I couldn’t count how many of them rained silver bullets on us from the mezzanine floor of the facility. The sound of the ricocheting bullets was terrifying to the bones. What made it worse was my fear for Gretta and Otis because Otis was already losing so much blood, and Gretta was in the middle of panicking. What are we going to do!? Are we all going to die here!? I thought as tears rolled down my face, remembering Catherine’s smile and Caden’s soft laughter whenever I did something silly. Then, from somewhere outside the building, a loud cry of a werewolf echoed all over the place, and I realized it was Caden’s call for his pack to regroup. A new hope made me smile, but then I realized...Caden didn’t know there were men inside this building who were armed with guns! It would be a massacre once his unit entered the building! My heart rammed against my chest. Adrenaline pumped wildly in my veins as I thought of how to distract all of them while Caden’s men broke inside. But the bulle

Miranda’s baleful laugh filled the whole place.Caden’s body went rigid in tension as we waited for what Miranda would do next. The old man still had a tight grip on the chains, and Gretta was too weak; she fell to her knees.Something in my throat choked me after I gasped. Goddess, I couldn’t watch my sister being tortured! [Caden! We can’t wait any longer! Gretta is hurting!]But Caden stayed focused; his eyes were sharp, glaring at Miranda and his whole pack of sentinels. I wished I knew what was going on in his mind, but as an Alpha, Caden had the ability to shut his mind off from me and the others. All I knew were the emotions he felt as he waited for the perfect timing to attack. Still, he was irritatingly calm and steady. It made me wonder how many battles he went through to be so sharp and composed like this, even in a situation of life and death.“Release her, Miranda. I am here! It’s me who you want, right?” Otis screamed again.Miranda gestured for his men to seize Otis and

But we are already so deep in the forest. We should have found any trace of them already.]Caden turned to a sudden halt, and everyone, including me, stopped and watched him search and sense our surroundings. I felt my husband's frustration, but we couldn’t stop looking at our siblings. Gretta must have gone to negotiate with Miranda, but I was scared that Otis might have found them and that cunning old man—I was scared of what he would do to the two.[Maybe we should split searching—][NO! Not an option!] Caden almost yelled. His voice calmed down, but he was still in distress. [You are not going to wander in this forest alone, Giselle. I won’t let you.][But it’s the fastest way!
