ログインThe nearby mall was one hour away from Einsworth Manor, and I saw how uncomfortable Caden was while standing in the middle of the baby section because all the salesladies were staring at him with suspicious and admiring eyes while whispering to their co-workers. Even the other moms were looking at both of us like we were some kind of celebrity, and Caden hated the attention.
I wanted to laugh when I saw his face turn red.
“What do you think would suit the baby? Blue or pink?” I asked as I smiled at him.
“I know what you are doing, Giselle, and it’s not funny.” Caden glared down at me and then looked around, careful not to look scary in front of everyone. “And why are you making me choose? You don’t even know if it’s a boy or a girl!”
“Yellow then.” I ignored how upset he was, and then he sighed.
“Fine. Do you think you are punishing me by making me this uncomfortable? We’ll see...” He hissed at me and then went towards the saleslady and talked to her for over three minutes.
At first, I got curious about what he told her until three more salesladies assisted the one that Caden approached and started packing all the yellow stuff that was displayed.
My eyes widened. “What did you do?!” I asked him.
He gave me a side-eyed look and then smirked, “No need to choose. I already bought all the yellow baby stuff, so go back to the car. The saleslady knows what she must do.”
“What?! That’s not how things work!”
“Go back to the car, Giselle,” he hissed at me, giving me a warning look. Scared that he might do something more ridiculous than buy all the yellow things displayed in the baby section, I let Caden lead me to the car park and pouted when he started the engine.
‘How about the things you bought? We’re leaving them here?” I asked with both of my arms folded on my chest, “I can’t believe you just did that, Caden!”
“Did what? I can even buy that whole d*mn mall if you want me to.” His eyes were sharp when he made a short glance at me, and I suddenly just became helpless. Yes, my parents were also rich. But not as crazy rich as Caden Einsworth. He continued, “They are going to deliver it to the address I gave them. Then my men will transport it straight to the manor.”
"Are you too careful about people knowing your address?" I made my voice a little small and cute, yet in a taunting way.
“Stop talking at me like that, Giselle,” Caden warned me once again, but this time, his eyes darkened. Both his hands were on the steering wheel, yet he hadn’t turned the engine on.
“What? You’re starting to regret that you took me from my apartment?” I laughed at him sarcastically and then tilted my head to the side and raised an eyebrow. “Am I making you mad now, Sir Alpha?”
My eyes widened when Caden suddenly leaned closer to me and grabbed me by the shoulders. His lips landed on my soft lips, and he kissed me so crushingly that I was in complete shock and was totally frozen. It felt surreal, but his alluring scent was all over me, giving me the urge to close my eyes and kiss him back. Yet my pride would never let me until he pulled away, and his dark, threatening eyes gazed down at me like he was ready to devour me inside his black, luxurious car.
“That will happen if you keep on annoying me,” he murmured in his husky, sultry voice that made my heart frantically beat inside my chest.
God. What had just happened?
While we were on the way to my doctor, there was a lot of tension between us. His taste lingered on my lips, and I never dared lick them in front of him, too scared that he would attack me with his savage kisses again.
It was embarrassing that I didn’t get so upset with him after what he did.
The doctor was already expecting us when we came into the hospital. She was unexpectedly young for a doctor, and she was beautiful.
My jealous heart was not comfortable with that woman.
Especially when she hooked her arm around Caden’s arm as they walked towards her clinic with me behind them.
A snarl escaped from my lips as I threw a deadly look at them.
“Oh, Giselle. By the way, this is Jenny Miller. She is going to be your OB-Gyne and will take care of you.” Caden introduced the blonde doctor, who was wearing huge eyeglasses that didn’t fit the shape of her face.
It took me a lot of self-control not to roll my eyes at both of them. I wanted to claw Caden’s face off. Why was he smiling so widely at her when, every time he looked at me, I felt like I was the worst person he had ever met?
“Don’t worry, Miss Sidney, your secret is safe with me.” She smiled at me sweetly for a brief second, and then her bright eyes stared into Caden as they talked about something—something about their high school days or whatever the f*ck it was. I didn’t care.
I just wanted this first checkup to be over, and then I would tell Caden I didn't want her as my doctor.
Dr. Miller asked me a few questions that were a little embarrassing for me and Caden. Did he tell her it was his baby? I had a feeling she knew because she kept looking at him as I answered. Questions like, When did it happen? When was the last time I had my menstruation and other things that made me almost want to cry.
“Okay,” Dr. Miller said, looking at me a little alarmed when she saw the tears brimming in my eyes. “You will be okay, Giselle. I am here to help you. You will be safe with me,” she whispered soothingly as she guided me inside a small room where there was one single bed and an apparatus near it. I got a little scared. My face went pale when I saw on the other side the metal pieces of equipment, especially a clamp-like thing on top of the metal table.
When I glanced at Caden, he was a lot paler than me, and I had to restrain myself from throwing that metal stuff on his head.
I was upset. Of course! Why was I the only one dealing with all this pain and fear?!
“Relax.” Dr. Miller smiled. “I am not going to use those things for you. I will just perform an ultrasound to check how the baby is inside.”
She applied a cold, sticky liquid to my belly and began sliding the equipment over it. She showed me the screen and smiled, “Ohhh, what a strong angel! We cannot yet determine the gender, but I assure you, the baby is healthy.”
I didn’t know, but I felt so relieved and pleased that tears fell from my eyes the moment I heard my baby’s heartbeat. And then I unconsciously gazed at Caden’s face, and he was looking at the monitor with a huge smile on his face.
The feeling was new to me. It was like my heart was so full of love that I was scared it might explode in my chest. Emotions flooded me, and I had never felt so happy like this in my whole life, just hearing the heartbeat of the little pup growing inside of me.
I haven’t met him or her yet, but I already love him or her.
Then I wished for a girl.
I wish my baby were a girl.
“Thank you, Jenny. Thank you for helping us.” I heard Caden thank Dr. Miller, and I saw both of them shake hands. I was starting to like her, but then I couldn’t trust that wide smile on her face when she looked at Caden.
“You can trust me with all your secrets, Alpha Caden.” She gave him a small handbook, and I saw their fingers touch again. I felt like all the hairs on my nape stood, feeling very annoyed at Caden’s stupid smile at the lady. “This is her handbook, and her next schedule was already written in there. I will send her the vitamins she needs, and in three months, you will finally hold your small angel.”
I froze. Oh, she knew.
Caden gently guided me back to the parking area, and both of us were silent as we got into his car. I could see that Caden was in a good mood. Was it because of the baby or the doctor?
“What?” He asked when he saw me glaring at him.
“Stop smiling like a goat.” I scoffed at him, and he rolled his eyes at me.
“I always forget you have that awful temper,” he uttered while shaking his head. “But today is a beautiful day, and I am happy that the baby is healthy.”
The beautiful feeling that I felt just minutes ago was replaced by sudden sadness and fear.
Is that all he only cared about? The baby?
I didn’t utter a single word until we got into the manor.
I was too hurt to speak.
Can Giselle make Caden fall in love with her?
I winced. The pain had been getting a lot more intense since last night, to the point that I felt like my hipbone was going to crack open. There were waves of pain every two hours, and I couldn’t sleep well anymore. I felt a little anxious about it because I needed more time until Caden came home, but I knew the baby was coming at any moment. It was something I had no control of.Madelyn had already returned to the hotel, and Beta Henry was away, dealing with a business meeting in the absence of their Alpha. I was technically left with the maids in the manor, and I didn’t know what to do!“Oh, baby, not now, please…” I whispered as I exhaled and inhaled through my mouth, just to calm myself down as sharp pains started to shoot down my hips. Beads of sweat formed on my forehead, and I couldn’t do anything but grimace as I groaned in pain.“Goddess, this is too much!” I exclaimed in agony.I started moving around my room and took the baby bag with me while I slowly and carefully went do
“I’m happy you remembered me this time.”“I always think of you, Giselle. It’s just mom—”It was so good to hear Caden’s voice after not calling me for several days. Just one word from him, and all the anxiety in me disappeared, and I couldn’t help but smile as I listened to him. I had a feeling my little shifter was glad as well because the pup kept on kicking as if he or she could also hear his or her dad's voice through me.I sighed. I started to regret that I didn’t insist on knowing what the gender of my baby was. I never thought I would have a hard time addressing the baby, whether it was a boy or a girl.“What happened to Marissa? Is she all right? Is your mom with you?”There were seconds of silence from the other line, and I heard Caden exhale in exasperation. He sounded exhausted, too. “Yes. She is safe. I had an encounter with the enemies, but don’t worry. I am fine. I didn’t receive anything deadly from those bastards."“What?! You’re hurt?!” I exclaimed in panic, “Does th
“H-Hey, Caden, I’ll go with you.”Caden glanced at me briefly and then went straight to his wardrobe to get some clothes. Even though he was so composed, I could see the panic in his eyes while shoving stuff in a suitcase. I felt the tension on his body as he walked around his room, looking for things he would bring for that trip to find Marissa.I couldn’t understand what happened. After he told me that Marissa was missing on an exotic island where she went for a short vacation with one of her friends, I started to scare myself that maybe it was the same thing that happened to my dad when his enemies tried to kill him.“I don’t want you to go,” I pleaded after I grabbed his arm and stared at him in the eyes. I was scared. So scared that someone plotted this to get rid of him—that it might just be a trap to make him go to a place where his enemies expected him to come.Caden stopped what he was doing and gently held both of my arms with a reassuring look on his face. “I will not stay
Despite the fact that I turned the bottle upside down and made Caden’s attention all mine, I still couldn’t sleep with the fact that he and Gretta met. What did they do? What were the things they talked about? Did Caden tell my sister about me so she wouldn’t worry anymore? Did he tell her that, after all this time, I was just hiding under his protection? Did he mention that I was pregnant as well?I stared at Caden, who was peacefully sleeping by my side. Marissa was on vacation; that’s why he never had to sneak every night just to be in my bed. I was happy that Caden loved to sleep beside me even though he knew we couldn’t make love just the way we used to because, at any time, I was ready to give birth to the only heir of the Highridge Pack. The idea made me scared yet thrilled at the same time, wishing my baby was a boy who looked exactly like his dad. That dark, soft hair, clear green eyes, and perfect little nose. I smiled and imagined holding my little pup in my hands with Cad
“Where did you go? ”“Why do you suddenly care? ”“I am asking you, Caden! ”I felt him remove his hand around my waist and then pull me by my shoulder and force me to look at him. It was a little dark in my room, but the austere expression on his face made me think that he didn’t like it when I questioned him about what he did the whole day. It’s just funny that he thought I never cared when, every time he was not around, I knew he could feel how anxious I was.Or maybe he was just trying to avoid the question because I didn't need to ask it in the first place.“I just had a meeting in another city,” he replied, breaking the silence between us.My wolf snarled. Liar.If only I hadn’t caught him entering the coffee shop where I saw Gretta, I would have believed what he said, even if my wolf told me otherwise. My heart felt like it was being poured by a pale of ice-cold water, knowing that he lied to me. It was more painful than seeing Gretta again after so many months of hiding, and I
My eyes widened. From the car window, I saw my sister, Gretta, alone inside a coffee shop in a city, two hours away from the Einsworth Manor. At first, I was so suspicious about where Marissa would take me, but seeing my sister peacefully sipping a cup of coffee not too far away from the car made me want to run outside and call her name.To tell her I was here.I bit my trembling lower lip as tears trickled down my face. I thought I already cried all the tears I had last night, but seeing my sister after a long time of hiding made the pain worse. The guilt I felt hit me twice because I couldn’t let her know where I was. I couldn’t let her know the situation I was in or how I ended up being here.“I just thought that maybe you need to see your sister,” Marissa murmured beside me while we were in the backseat of the car. Her voice was stoic, though, which created tension between us.I didn’t know her intention or why she did it.“No,” I answered firmly, “I can’t let her see me. It will
