I could not sleep a wink when I was lying on the bed. My thoughts were raging inside my mind as the words of my mother rang in my ear.

“When you get bitten by a werewolf, you become his mate,” she said a little while ago when we were still in the kitchen. “And when you become his mate, you can’t escape the prophecy you have with him!”

I sat up on the bed and ruffled my hair, frustrated and panicking.

“Mother, what should I do? I can’t be married to a werewolf!” I said.

But she was already crying before she could answer me. It was as if she was hopeless and breaking down just because of what I said. And then suddenly, she pulled me and widened her eyes.

“Elizabeth!” she said while shaking my shoulders with her hands. “His eyes… what was the color of his eyes?!”
