#Chapter 42- Half A Day

Aurora’s POV

Something shakes me from sleep, and I swat at it.

“Not yet,” I groan, burying my face into the warmth. It smells amazing, like the spiciest fire burning in the fall, and it feels even better. Little sparks whisper through my body as I sink into the warm body.

A chuckle reaches my ears before something gently skims across my cheek.

“We’ve arrived at the Redwater Pack, little human, and unless you want them to see me carry you inside, you may want to wake up.”

Thorne’s voice.

My eyes fly open, and I sit up, finding that in my sleep, I moved away from the window and tucked myself into his side. Heat fills my cheeks as I pull my leg off his lap and unwedge my arm from behind his back.

Tucked against him would be an understatement, actually. I looked like I was trying to climb him in my sleep.

“S-Sorry,” I mumble, rubbing my tired eyes.

Aurora’s POVEveryone in the room gasps before silence falls. It’s completely quiet except for the sloppy sound of Angeline kissing Thorne. Just one action, and I know this woman has to be Thorne’s ex, Angeline. That’s the only explanation. This had to be her. The woman who Joseph said Thorne is in love with. The one I know is supposed to be coming back this week, but even as I look at her, I can’t believe it’s so soon. And actually seeing her is very different than having to watch her kiss Thorne in the middle of the office. My chest tightens, and a sick feeling rolls through me.“I came back for you,” Angeline says, not worrying about the room full of people watching them reunite. Couldn’t they have done this in private where I wouldn’t have to watch?Angeline takes Thorne’s face in her hands, “I want to be with you, Thorne, and I don’t care what I must do. It was a mistake to break up because of an argument. I know that now, and I will make things right between us.”The dramatic fl

Aurora’s POVThorne hasn’t said anything about finding me in the midst of a nightmare last night, but my face still burns from embarrassment. I’d fallen asleep on the couch and began dreaming only to find him there when I woke up.And it was the worst nightmare yet.It started like all the others, with the shadowy male figure. He creeps around the corner, his face concealed in darkness, and coming right toward me. This time, I’m not on the balcony, but my heart is hammering just as hard and fast as that night. “Leave me alone!” I cry, running from the shadow man. The forest comes on quickly, surrounding me and plunging me into an even darker night. I don’t stop running, though. He’s right behind me, and if I stop, he’ll have me. My feet get caught up in something, and I tumble to the ground with a cry. Then, the man is on top of me. He shoves me into he ground and wraps his hands around my neck, cutting off my air supply. “No!” I cry, hitting him as best I can. It doesn’t phase the

  • The Alpha's Secret Human Sugar Baby   #Chapter 53- Date Night… Not

Aurora’s POVI feel like half the office is taken over by Ivy, Jackson, or Ethan. I’m avoiding them everywhere, and I do mean everywhere. It feels like each time I turn around, one of them is near me. What’s worse is that Ethan is walking toward me right now.I scoot around the edge of the lunchroom, but he catches me before I can escape.“How have you been? I wanted to invite you to dinner,” Ethan says, “I thought you were lovely at lunch the other day.”“I’ve been good, Ethan, but I’m sorry. I can’t do dinner,” I say, glancing at the door. “Excuse me.”Before he can say anything else, I scurry out the door. Ethan kind of freaked me out the day Emma had set us up for lunch, and I hoped we wouldn’t run into each other again. I didn’t think he would want to go out again. Also remembering that lunch makes me think about how Thorne rescued me that day. It wasn’t the first time he had saved me either. He’s done so much for me, helping me at every turn, and all I’ve given him was sex and a

  • The Alpha's Secret Human Sugar Baby   #Chapter 52- Making Plans

Aurora’s POVWith Alpha Sanders’ promise to look into the incident, Thorne and I return to normal life—or as normal as it is when you’re the secret mistress to the strongest Alpha.“I want you to stay home today,” Thorne says as I walk out of the bathroom.“What? Why?” We’d gotten back from the Redwater Pack last night, and he hadn’t said anything about not going to work today.“You should take a break today and relax,” he says while buttoning his dress shirt. He moves to his tie, fussing with it for a minute before I swat his hands away and tie it for him.“Thorne, I’m fine.”“Having nightmares every night for the past two days isn’t fine,” he growls, tipping my chin up. “You were in a serious accident and need to take time to recover.”The mention of my nightmares is a low blow, but true, nonetheless. We stayed two extra days at Alpha Sanders’ pack so Thorne could look for the person who hurt me, but he didn’t have any luck.“I wasn’t hurt, Thorne. I was just scared,” I tell him, pr

Aurora’s POV“No, please,” I beg the shadowy figure. “It’s time to die,” the unknown man growls. His hands grip me by the shoulders as he shoves me closer to the balcony’s edge. My back hits the railing, and my feet come off the ground. I try to scream for Thorne, but my voice doesn’t work. I claw at the man, my hands moving right through his shadow form. “No one can save you now.” I scream as my body tumbles backward. Air rushes around me, the ground racing toward me until… bam! I bolt upright, gasping for air and whipping my head around to find the shadow man. He’s no where in sight and neither is the balcony. In fact, I’m laying in a large, soft bed and I’m not splattered on the grass beneath the balcony. The soft light from the bathroom illuminates the room, and when I reach back, there’s nothing there. The sheets behind me are cold, meaning he left a while ago. Thorne left even after he told me that he would stay.Turning over, I search the dark room for a sign of him, my ey

Thorne’s POVAurora whimpers and cries in my arms, the scent of fear overwhelming my senses as I carry her back to our room. Every time I shift her in my arms, she startles. She hasn’t looked up at me, keeping her face firmly planted in my chest.“You’re safe,” I whisper, rubbing my cheek on the top of her head. “I’ve got you. You’re safe.”I repeat the mantra over and over, tightening my hold on her as I walk. I need the contact and holding her and pressing my cheek to her hair is helping calm my agitated wolf and me. Watching her fall like that took years off my life, and the only thing keeping me from shifting is the fact that she’s in my arms. Her cries have become quieter, a big difference from the desperate and broken cries from just a few minutes ago. She was freaking out but now she’s just crying quietly. It’s a bit unsettling.I push the room door open with my foot and close it the same way, walk over to the bed, and try to set her down. However, Aurora clearly has other plan
