Chapter Eighteen

Clarissa

We finished our food and Jake got up to pay the bill. Talia saw him go away and hopped on the chair beside him.

“Just what is going on?” She asked me and I looked at her in confusion.

“What is going on?” I asked in the same confused voice,

“Is there something you aren’t telling me, sis?” She asked and folded her hands on the table while looking into my eyes.

“I don’t understand” I tried to say but the nervousness in my voice betrayed me.

“Why do I feel you are hiding something from me? Don’t tell me you have fallen for that hottie.”

I made an elaborate show of opening the cap of the bottle and pouring water out of it into a glass, “No idea what you mean.”

I sipped water to buy some time as Talia began her interrogation.

“I saw the way you two looked at each other, even at the council home and now here. At first, I thought you were glaring at each other in the council office. You were always looking at him and I thought you were scared of him so you wanted to ensure not to go
