Clarissa

After he said that line, he simply stepped away from me and began walking inside. I quickly looked around but thankfully nobody had seen him say that to me.

Somehow, his voice and his words had reassured me.

I was not sure why I felt like I should believe him but in the brief second that our eyes had met, I had felt that if anybody could pull me out of this mess, it was him.

After all, he was the one to have put me in that in the first place.

‘...but I want something in return’

What did he want from me? Should I trust him enough?

While I was lost in thoughts, Talia straightened up and we all entered the large hall that had rooms on either side that served as offices of various employees.

The large hall had a waiting area with rows of chairs on either side and a small passage in the center to walk toward the reception.

The guard was directly taking us to the council head’s office when a woman in her earlier thirties stepped out of the office hurriedly.
