I parked the truck in the garage and headed inside. My feet were guided by Sutton’s scent. Everyone was congregated in the kitchen. I went straight to Sutton and pulled her into my arms. The last two days apart had been excruciating. I was almost grateful for the valid excuse to bring her back home.

“Progress?” I barked at Max, keeping Sutton pressed against me.

“We were able to track the vehicle to a vacant house in the subdivision a couple miles down,” Max informed me. “The team is in place to raid it as soon as you give the word.”

“They believe the culprits are still inside?” I asked.

Max nodded. I reached through the mind-link to the waiting team and gave the command.

“I’ll go requisition a van to transport our new guests,” Max said, closing the laptop in front of him.

It took us longer than we planned to get ready but neither of us was actually complaining. It was the most time we’d gotten to spend together, just the two of us since we had come to the packhouse. I hadn’t realized how frustrating it had been to have us constantly going in opposite directions until today. And don’t get me wrong, I was grateful for the chance to get closer to Jack. He meant so much to Lucas and would always be a big part of his life. But it was nice to not have to worry about doing something inappropriate in front of him.Even when Lucas took me out to lunch, we still seemed to be in our little bubble. I couldn’t remember a time I’d ever felt so happy and content. Knowing where we were going after our meal, I tried to hold onto that feeling as strongly as possible. As we left the café, Lucas opened the truck door for me. I moved to get in but he grabbed my arm to stop me. St

It was the sun shining through the windows that woke me the following morning. My body was still so incredibly relaxed I thought I could sleep for a week. As came further into consciousness, memories of the events of the night before happily flashed through my mind. The treatment I’d received from Lucas was by far my favorite part.I shifted in order to sink further into the mattress and closer to my impressive mate. He mumbled something in his sleep and threw an arm over me. I couldn’t help but smile. I laced my fingers in his and tried to fall back asleep, but found myself tracing lines along his hand instead. Contemplating how much my life had changed in just a few short months. Nova yawned and stretched in the back of my mind, listening at the edge of my thoughts with contentment.“It’s entirely too early for you to be awake,” Lucas grumbled in my ear.I chuckled. “I&

I leaned against the wall and watched Sutton usher everyone into the elevator. The corner of my mouth twitched as she swayed slightly on her feet. It was the most carefree and relaxed I’d ever seen her. A pang of jealousy emerged that I hadn’t been the one responsible for this state, but I pushed it aside. The night wasn’t over yet. I still had every intention of improving upon her current state.Setting my glass on an end table, I spotted a bottle that had been left behind. With a grin, I slipped it into my pocket just as Sutton came up and threw her arms around my neck. She pulled me into another hungry kiss. The scent of her arousal hit me immediately and she was already tugging at my clothes.I was loving her enthusiasm. I had already discovered that I greatly enjoyed when she took charge. I would happily relinquish control to her… another night. Tonight… I had other plan

I wiped my hands with the stained rag, tossing it aside as I exited the cell. Rhonen huffed as he paced my head, licking his chops with satisfaction. I still didn’t have all the information I wanted but I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t relieved some of the stress I’d been carrying. I wasn’t lying when I said I didn’t relish the violence I was capable of. But that didn’t mean I couldn’t realize the attraction. We were still animals at our core, after all.“That’s the third one to name blondie over there as their leader,” Jaden stated, indicating the last cell on the row. “But you knew that already.”I opened the bottle of water he offered without a response. We had kept them all together initially. Observing how they interacted with each other before starting to separate them throughout the night. It didn’t take long to figure

The last rays of twilight were clinging to the sky as I approached the rubble pile that was still lying at the edge of the newly cleared land. Despite the myriad of other smells hanging in the air, the scent of Sutton’s blood hit me immediately. It spurred Rhonen on. He was pushing at the barrier hard.‘Calm down,’ I urged, despite feeling the same effects from our mate’s blood as him. ‘Remember, he’s been dealt with.’‘Send a message,’ Rhonen growled. ‘No one touches mate.’‘I think we sent that message loud and clear, buddy,’ I replied. My orders were explicitly clear when I instructed Jaden to take the bastard’s body back to the border. We’d been keeping track of the areas the Dawn Stalker patrols would frequently get close or try to cross. They’d be finding parts of their fellow pack memb

We returned to the packhouse after searching the apartment. I let Rhonen run for a while longer, taking the time to map out a few new patrol routes for the security team. Once we were satisfied, we headed for home.I wasn’t able to access the information on the phone. Even if it had been charged, there was almost guaranteed to be a password. However, we had just the man on our tech team to help us with that. So, I still considered the night a success and my mood was significantly better than it had been. And I had every intention of finishing the day by ravishing my mate until she passed out.I left Jaden at his floor and eagerly waited for the elevator to ascend. Once the doors opened, I was reminded of why I hadn’t been home in the first place. The sound of laughter filled the apartment. It should have been a good thing, but right now, it was keeping me from Sutton. She was surrounded by her g
