Chp 1 Pt. 4 Moving Again

Nico

“Yeah. Quiet little thing. Her name is Ahsoka.”

“Like Star Wars?”

“Yeah. I think it’s a cool name.”

“Nadia I think she is my mate.” When I mention this I hear Ms. Hadley gasp and look at us with a apologetic look for eavesdropping, but I know it’s kind of hard not to watch someone sign. I look at her confused as to why she seems concerned about this.

“I’m sorry Nico it’s just that, she is human.”

“That can’t be right. A wolf has never mated to a human.”

“Hello there future alpha. Is there something you need from me,” asks Mr. McGuire.

“Yeah I wanna know everything there is to know about the new girl, Ahsoka.”

“Oh her, she’s a harmless human. Very sweet girl it seems, she is no threat to the pack. She just moved here with her father from Idaho. Very smart girl from what I can see from her class schedule. She is mute but is able to sign. She came to the right school to help her with that. From what the teachers just told me she is a jumpy little thing. She doesn’t like being touched and appears very scared of people,” Mr. McGuire informs while signing so Nadia doesn’t miss out on the conversation.

“That’s odd, why is she so scared?”

“Not sure. She is not very talkative, I mean she doesn’t sign much and appeared to keep to herself.”

“Well if she really is human I’ll need to speak to my parents. She is the only new student we have and Ace is sure he smelled our mate. What classes does she have tomorrow.”

“Tomorrow she has US history, Chemistry and PE.”

“Shit this girl is smart. I have PE with her and that’s it. I don’t have any AP classes.”

“Of course your mate would be the smartest human we have in the school. She flew through the questions given by our teacher faster than anyone,” signs Nadia.

“Come on little sister, I am sure Natasha is waiting for us so we can go get Nuka. Not a word to either of them. I want to talk to mom and dad first.”

Nadia completely ignores me and heads out to the car. Natasha is my twin sister and we are both juniors this year. Nadia is a sophomore. Our little brother Nuka is in the eighth grade. Nadia had an accident when she was really young and she ended up deaf. The whole pack has learned sign language for her as she didn’t have her wolf at the time to heal her or to be able to mind link anyone. I follow Nadia to the car and I can see Natasha jumping up and down in excitement. Of course Nadia just couldn’t keep this information to herself.

“Oh my goddess, brother! You found your mate!”

“Ugh…Natasha no need to screech it out loud. I am right next to you. And I don’t know. Ace is sure he smelled her today but we never found her. I was just informed of the new student, but she’s human.”

“Come again brother.”

“You heard me Natasha. The new girl is human so unless we had a new wolf join the pack this human must be my mate. We need to go talk to dad.”

Natasha drives to the middle school to pick up Nuka and then heads back to the pack territory. I am dreading speaking to our parents. I don’t know what they will think about having a human as the next luna of our pack. She will be a bit of a liability with not being able to protect herself.

“Mom! Dad! We’re home,” yells Natasha to where I am sure the whole house heard her.

The pack house is three stories with a cellar for the wine and other alcohol my parents keep down there. The top floor has my parents bedroom along with five other bedrooms for my siblings and I. I doubt mom is going to have anymore kids so the last bedroom sits unused. The Second story houses the beta and gamma’s family and the main floor has a library, kitchen, dining room, game room and two offices. One for dad, his beta and gamma and one for me, my beta and gamma.

“Come to the dining room, Nancy has dinner finished,” yells mom.

I sign to Nadia that we are heading to the dining room for dinner. She gives me her smile and I can’t help roll my eyes as I turn around so she can jump on my back. I carry her to the dining room as she giggles on my back. Mom smiles at us as we enter the dining room.

“How was school everyone,” asks mom as we enter the room. Oh shit here we go. Natasha definitely has that look that she is going to blurt out what happened today.

“Nico found his mate!” Damn it Natasha.

“What! Oh my goddess! Dimitri come here!”

“No mom, wait!”

I bang my head on the table as I am too late, Dad is already in here. He looks at mom like its the first time he has laid eyes on her. It’s always been that way with them. I hope my mate and I are just like my parents.

“What is it love, you sound excited.” Dad grabs my mom by the waist bringing her closer so he can kiss her.

“Can you guys do that when we are not in the room,” I groan not wanting to watch my parents make out.

“I’ll remember that when you start making out with your mate Nico,” says mom.

“What, you found your mate Nico,” asks dad excitedly.

I glare at Natasha and she just smiles and walks over to her chair. I set Nadia down so I can use my hands. I know she hates being left out of the conversation.

“I think so. Ace is sure he smelled her throughout the day, but we couldn’t find her. I asked Mr. McGuire about what new student had arrived. It turns out the new girl is human.” I cringe waiting for their reaction.

“Ummm…are you sure your mate is human,” asks dad.

“I don’t see how she is not. I have met every she-wolf in our pack as well as all the other surrounding packs. Ace smelled her today. He sure she is our mate but I haven’t laid eyes on her yet.”

I can see mom and dad are mind linking each other, like we all aren’t standing right here knowing they are talking about me. Nadia gives me a hug before sitting down next to Nuka to dig into dinner.

“Well, let’s not jump to conclusions son. Try and find the new girl tomorrow and see if she really is your mate. It could be your mind playing tricks on you.”

“I have PE with her tomorrow. What if she does turn out to be my mate? Have you ever heard of a human mating to a wolf?”

“Well no but if she is your mate the goddess has a reason to pair her to you. We trust the goddess in her decisions so you should as well. We will accept her no matter what. It’s telling her and her parents of the shadow world that will be difficult. What is her name?”

“It’s just her and her dad. I don’t know what happened to her mother. Her name is Ahsoka.”

“Like from Star Wars,” asks dad.

“Yeah, though try not to make a big deal about it. I could tell she gets that question a lot and she seemed a bit annoyed by it when I asked,” signs Nadia.

“That would annoy me too. I won’t say anything.”

“Well lets eat. We can figure out what to do tomorrow if she does turn out to be your mate,” says mom.

I didn’t expect my family to be okay with me being mated to a human. I truly have the best parents ever. While we eat we all mind link to keep Nadia in the conversation. There is laughter and teasing all around. I wonder what my mate is up to right now.
