Chapter 54: Settling Down.

Mason.

“You didn't have to come here,” David snorted, sulking and rolling his eyes.

I quietly drop the things I bought for him on the cabinet, pulling out a chair to sit beside him. Kai runs to him, climbing the hospital bed to straddle him, “Uncle.”

He coos at Kai, cupping his cheeks, “My baby, I missed you so much. I'm sorry that you were hurt and Uncle couldn't help you, I'm so happy to see you well.”

“Uncle,” Kai squeals, laughing as David begins to tingle him all over. I smile gladly, watching the scene.

When they finally settle, David speaks to me again, “You didn't have to come here, Mason. I thought you might have returned to Bavaria City or that fuckface should be able to keep you safe. It's dangerous out here.”

“Don’t curse David and Leo is not a fuckface.”

“Whatever.”

“How are you doing?” I ask him.

“I'm not dead, the doctor says thankfully my intestines are safe, it wasn't that deep so I'm okay and recovering,” He shrugs tiredly, “I'm used to getting stabbed.”
