{Axel POV}

“Coffee,” she said, going past my desk. “Back in ten.”

Isla had a bad habit of announcing where she was going. Nobody in this building tells me where they’re going. I employed four hundred and six people, and most of them haven’t spoken to me; they would rather take the stairs to the fortieth floor than share a lift with me.

The door shut. I picked up the phone.

“Dalia. From now on, you don’t give coffee to anyone on this floor who isn’t my wife.”

Nine days ago, I told Dalia not to t

  • The Alpha's Unwanted Bride   The Picture in his wallet.

    {Isla’s POV} The stranger crouched down on the step below me so we were the same height, and he didn’t touch me.“Breathe out longer than you breathe in,” he said again. “In for four. Out for six. I’ll count.”So, I did. Because, to be honest, I didn’t have any other ideas. He counted, slowly, and there was something about his voice. I closed my eyes and imagined it was Axel saying it, and somewhere around the fifth time, the air went all the way in again.“There you go,” he said. “That’s it. Do you feel better now?”My hand came back first. Then my lips and my legs and my hot face because a stranger had just watched me fall apart in this dress with no back.“Sorry,” I said.“Don’t be. I used to get them too. My daughter gets them. Ever since her first shift. She was five, and it frightened her.”

  • The Alpha's Unwanted Bride   Blackwood’s Purchase

    {Isla’s POV} Cassandra fixed it for me before I left.I said it to myself all the way up the rest of the drive. And just when I thought things couldn’t get worse. There was no fucking dinner. It was a party, and the only reason he brought me was that he needed my signature. How convenient.I couldn’t tell which was worse. My sister fixing his collar while I practiced flirting with him in the room. Or bringing me to a party for my signature.I was not going to cry. I looked pretty, and I looked sexy.Someone opened the door before I could. It was a woman in white, just standing there, smiling at me like I was a gift.“You must be Greyhaven,” she said.Greyhaven? Not Isla. Not Mrs. Blackwood. Greyhaven. I looked at Axel, and he didn’t try to correct her once.“Margot,” Axel said.Just her name. So easily. Like he had said it a thousand times. Probably more times than he had said mine.“I’m Isla,” I said.“Oh, of course you are.” She took my hand in both of hers. Her hand was soft and c

  • The Alpha's Unwanted Bride   Nineteen Degrees

    {Axel’s POV} I am always two hours late to Gorman’s party.If you arrive on time, people think you are open to unnecessary conversation. If you arrive hours later, they are too drunk to bother. I learnt that from my father before he decided to get himself killed.Marcus was supposed to collect my wife and drive her to the venue. But Marcus was busy. I could have sent a driver. But I went myself because it was faster. Also, a driver would have made her late. Also, I needed to be by her side to make sure she behaved herself and did not wear anything revealing.Then I opened her bedroom door, and her face was inches away from the maid’s.Was she kissing the maid? No. That’s not right. She was probably blowing something off her eyes.They had both been laughing before I opened the door. I could hear it from the end of the hall. I thought she invited a man into her bedroom. But it was a maid. I didn’t have sex with my mate, Cassandra, to stay loyal to my wife…I mean, my contracted wife, a

  • The Alpha's Unwanted Bride   How to seduce my husband 101

    {Isla's POV}The second the clock in his office said five, I was out of that chair.Not walking. Running. I wish I was joking. I ran past Dalia’s desk before she had finished standing up to say Have a nice day, Mrs Blackwood. I had two hours left. I had no dress. No jewelry. No shoes. I mean, you can't blame me; I had no idea my husband would ask me out this fast.My husband. The same man who had looked at me for eleven days the same way you look at a houseplant, and who this morning, out of no freaking where, asked me to dinner. I have been dying to see how he eats.Then he told me what not to wear. You do not tell a woman what not to wear unless you have been thinking about what she looks like in other things. That’s just science. And to be fair, he had only seen me in silk.The boutique was on Averly Row, the kind of place that hands you a glass of wine and closes the whole shop down for someone worth it. Or as they would call it. A big fish.A girl with gold hoops and a name tag

  • The Alpha's Unwanted Bride   New Day

    {Isla’s POV} I had about two hours of sleep.Not because of the burn, though the burn was there; it burned each time I turned over.At half past one, I was still at the waiting area where the healer treated me, apparently smiling at the wall.At two, I was lying in bed thinking about what Cassandra said. “He calls himself a powerful Alpha, but he can’t tell the difference between his mate and a scam,” I said to myself, and by three, I did everything in repeat.So when I reached the lobby at twenty past six, I had eye bags, a growling belly, and a huge burn at my neck, chest, and belly. I just knew today would be awful.“Morning, Mrs. Blackwood.”I stopped walking. And looked at the guard. He was smiling at me. The same guard that hadn’t said a word to me even when I dropped a folder and four hundred pages of grain tariffs; he watched me pick up every single one from behind his desk with folded arms.“Morning,” I said.He smiled at me again till I walked away. I pinched the inside of m

  • The Alpha's Unwanted Bride   Household Cheeks

    {Isla’s POV}I stayed there long after the door shut.Long enough that my legs were starting to feel numb.Don’t write your whole life in a diary. A black notebook. Under the last drawer in my room at my father’s house, placed in a way that was not noticeable.The last time I saw it was a few days before the wedding. I hadn’t thought about it ever since, because nobody cared about me enough to be curious about what was in my diary. I had been distracted by everything that had happened in this house. It had never crossed my mind that I’d left years of my life under a drawer in a house I’m never going back to.Everything that had happened to me. My mother, Mrs. Elwood, every single thing I have ever said out loud. Every single thing Vanessa and Cassandra had done to me was in that book. Everything, including the night at the garden, written at four AM in the morning with my hands still shaking from my father beating.The front door opened behind me.“GET OUT!”Nothing.“I mean it, Cass
