ELENA’S POV,

I stared at Ryan for a minute, stunned by the conviction in his voice.

He would dissolve the Council… for me? Fight the very system we were sitting under? I didn’t know how to carry the responsibility of such loyalty. My chest was ready to burst out, but before that could have happened, my eyes did, and warm tears rolled down my face.

“Elena... you don't have to—”

He started speaking, but I couldn't control myself and hugged him without thinking about how it would look to the Council. Both of my arms tightened around his body, and I placed my head against his chest. He tensed up at first, taken by surprise, but then he relaxed. Fortunately, it was just us and my representative in the room, and he seemed busy with his work.

I wanted to thank him, but the words got stuck at the back of my throat. Thank you felt too small and meaningless compared to what he had just promised me. No amount of gratitude I could have offered him would have ever balanced the scales between us. S

  • The Alpha's Unworthy Luna    CHAPTER 58: MARRY JULIAN?

ELENA’S POV,The air in the lobby had a distinct taste—clean, light, and sweet. The light felt welcoming, in contrast to the coldness I felt in the morning. Even though I knew I was going to win the case, there was a little bit of uncertainty in my heart that was impossible to shake off. Now, it felt like I finally woke up from a nightmare I had been in for the last few years. Everything felt brighter, beautiful, and I had no intention of falling back to sleep. When Julian fell, clutching his chest, I feared he wasn't going to make it. Thankfully, I felt no pain when it happened, but it wasn't the same for him. He looked like he was on the verge of death and was begging the Goddess to let him live. His eyes were blood red, ready to pop out of his head, and his screams filled the room. There was no helping him; everyone in the room knew that, and the Council members didn't seem to be fazed at all. Just when I was about to apologize for making him suffer like that, the priestess told us

JULIAN’S POV,“I… accept your rejection.”The moment the words left my mouth, the world went silent.I didn't know how to feel or what to feel because I'd heard the terrible stories about divorce and how it affected the people over a long period. There was a reason why wolves didn't get divorced over small issues. The process of breaking the mate bond was supposed to be very painful. It was so bad that many couldn't even handle the pain of losing their mate like this, and were consumed by anger and madness. I was praying that it wouldn't happen to me when it did.A scream pierced through my mind as my wolf howled in agony. I couldn't understand what was happening at first, and suddenly I felt my heart being pulled upward. It was slow and painful, as if someone were deliberately trying to hurt me. It almost felt like someone was doing black magic, but the truth about my situation was even worse than that.It was the mate bond that connected me to Elena. And as the bond snapped, the so

  • The Alpha's Unworthy Luna    CHAPTER 55: TRIALS

ELENA’S POV,The Trial room was silent. The members of the Council were on their carved seats, going through the evidence my representative presented before them. And just a few seats away from me, Julian was too stunned to speak, and his representative was sweating profusely. He could see the case slipping out of his hand. They didn't expect us to find any evidence against him, Julian proved that in the morning. Even before the trials started, he came to us and asked if I had my things packed. He was confident that the Council was going to be on his side. Hence, when his secretary's name was mentioned, my satisfaction level reached a new height seeing the change in his facial expressions.I was leaning over the heavy oak table that stretched between us and the Council members like a barrier. The old man's sharp eyes studied me as if weighing every breath I took. He made me feel really uncomfortable, however, Ryan’s presence gave me the strength to face him without fear.Thankfully, h

ELENA’S POV,The taste of freedom touched my lips when Ryan started laying out photographs on the glass table. It wasn’t sweet, like I hoped it would be. It was sharp, like the cold breeze after a heavy storm—filled with the memory of rain, but light enough not to feel suffocating. The longer I looked at the photos, the worse they got, and the final blow came when I saw them in the restaurant. It was our spot, our little corner within a bustling environment, the place where we had our first date. And he tainted whatever specialness was about that place by inviting an outsider. I didn't expect to be hurt by the pictures, but seeing him share what was supposed to be only ours with his secretary shattered the few good memories I had of him. After that, I couldn't bring myself to look at the flash drive Ryan placed on the table. I was afraid I might find something way worse, something I couldn't unsee for the rest of my life. Hence, I chose my mental peace over curiosity. I trusted Ryan,

RYAN’S POV,I had been waiting for the right moment to present the evidence to Elena.I couldn't believe Lauren tried to help her after everything that happened. From the look on her face when Julian tried to defend her, I knew she had no interest in him. She was with him for some other reason. Elena was too naive to notice those things; she believed Lauren wanted Julian for herself, and that's why she gave her the photo.I haven't seen it, and knowing Elena, I was confident she wouldn't show it to me. I didn't ask for it either, because Corbin was able to secure much better evidence against Julian. He thought he was being sneaky by hiring the Shadow Pack to do his dirty work, forgetting who I am and where I came from.I had been in politics since my teenage years, and those years taught me some valuable lessons. When Elena told me that she wanted another way, as expected from someone with a heart of gold, I knew it was the right time. She didn't want to use the photo because whatever
