ALPHA XAVIER POV

A mischievous smile played on my lips while I listened to Valerian talk and advocate for Isabel. I could have understood if he had only spoken about it and moved on to other subjects.

But he dwelled on the topic, passionately appealing for Isabel's course. "I have a question Val, and I'd be grateful if you answered honestly." A name I usually call him.

Valerian looked at me searchingly, I could see the desperation in his eyes as he tried to figure out what was going on in my mind. "Okay, shoot."

"What happened out west?"

“I don't understand,” he seemed confused, "What are you talking about."

"I am saying, what happened all through your journey when you linked up with Alaric and Renata."

"Nothing," I noticed he was now a bit unsettled.

"You know, you've been all in my face since you returned advocating for Isabel like you've known her your whole life. It makes me wonder if something happened that I don't know of?" I said softly while I watched his every reaction.
